Sylvan Wiltord is one of Arsenal's forgotten sons who couldn't stop scoring. He was our hero when we scored our cruical winning goal away at Manchester United in 01-02 season to clinch our second league and cup dou Arsenal 02-03 Seaman, Lauren, Keown, Campbell, Cole, Pires, Vieira, Parlour, Ljunberg, Henry, and Bergkamp. Toure, Wiltord, Edu, Silverno, Jeffers, and Kanu.
Threw the league away that season. Dropped 12 points from an available 21 between games 30-36 & ended up losing the league by 5 points to Utd. Had we won it that year, we'd have had a Double-Double League & Cup winning side, as well as having won 3 Prems in a row to go with that unbeaten season of 03/04.
@oisin5684 Then again many ifs and ands. ManUtd could say they could've won 2001/02 & 2003/04 for different reasons. The former their much stronger ChampionsLeague campaign than Arsenal's played a part in Arsenal benefiting in the PL (like in 1997/98 also, both seasons if the head-to-heads go differently which they easily could have, ManUtd would've won those titles) but ManUtd were trying new things after winning 5 out of 6 PL's in 2001 bought Veron v.Nistelrooy which meant they changed their formations to still play their normal midfielders it wasn't broken and didn't need fixing but I guess they got bored and tried something new which Arsenal benefited from because it took about a year for that to gel and be consistent (although still scored more than Arsenal in 2001/02 & and got to CL semi's should've reached final unlucky with the Beckham injury no thanks to dirty Deportivo). And 2003/04 ManUtd were top in January before the RioFerdinand ban. Also 2002/03 if ManUtd hadn't won it would've more so been them throwing it away when you look at their record vs the Top8 compared to Arsenal's poor 17pts vs the Top8 (despite 2 offside ThierryHenry goals vs ManUtd) ManUtd got over double that. It was never on the cards for Arsenal to win 3 in a row in that ManUtd era. Try winning 2 before saying you should've won 3 in a row. ManUtd were literally robbed of 4 in a row in 2009/10 (plus the only PL ManUtd didn't win from 1995/96 to 2000/01 was when Scholes should've had a pen at Highbury at 2-2 Nov97 in a game Arsenal needed to win to stand any chance of nicking the title, that was a less worthy title win than ManUtd winning 2002/03).
Nobody cares about that Covid season! That Liverpool team aren’t anywhere near the top 5 title winning team in prem history! That Chelsea 04-05 would piss all over them!
38:46 why isn’t this Pires goal talked about more. Unbelievable effort
