I made this yesterday and it was perfect! So smooth and creamy. Just as good if not better than any green tea I've tried in a restaurant! I only made half the recipe as a test because I was hesitant to use so many eggs if it fails but it was so successful I will definitely be making the full recipe this weekend!
Made this yesterday, it definitely has a "clean" taste. It doesn't have the "rich creamy" texture that expensive ice cream has. I've made another batch of green tea ice cream two days ago and it was FANTASTIC and everyone wanted the recipe. I used green tea in place of cinnamon in the "cinnamon ice cream" recipe from Allrecipes's website with some alterations. Here's my modified recipe: -mix 1 egg + 1 egg yolk in a bowl, set aside -Over medium low stir: 2/3 cup white sugar + 1 cup heavy cream +1/2 cup milk. Let it simmer for a sec, then take pot off heat -after a minute: add 1.5T green tea powder (matcha) to pot, mix well until smooth* (pass mixture through a sieve a few times if you need to) - Pour half of this liquid *slowly** into bowl of eggs, whisking the eggs as you pour. -Pour the rest of the egg mixture back into the pot -Add 1 cup heavy cream to pot -Stir *constantly** over medium low until the mixture coats a metal spoon Then you know the rest (let it cool completely, put it in your ice cream mixer) Enjoy!
Oh my god, I made this today for the first time. I can say that it is truly delicious! And this video seems very easy to follow - I got the ingredients from their website. It hasn't yet frozen but I tasted the creamy mixture and it was delish (make sure it's not liquidy - else you didn't heat it enough - medium high heat I would say).
for me i have to use the Ziploc freezer bag method and take out every 10-15 min and knead it then put back till it gets the right consistency to transfer into a container other wise its a frozen solid block lol
I love your videos ladies. Thank you. This is the same recipe as Thomas Keller's French vanilla, w/ one exception, the tea. I'm making this when I get home.
It's not likely that you'll find them at regular grocery stores, but it's worth calling around to ask. If you can't find any in stores, you can easily get it off of Amazon.
I think you need to have enough fat in the recipe to obtain a soft and creamy final product. But since an ice cream maker is involved, maybe it could work.
I made the ice cream used ur recipe. I have to stir 3 times because i dun have a ice cream maker. It turns out well. Its nice but i dun like it because its too creamy, green tea taste fades. Do you have any recipe that brings out the green tea taste more than cream?
I did the same thing :/ it was too heavy and creamy :P I'm thinking of using just Whipping cream instead of heavy whipping cream. And maybe one or two less egg yolks. :) idk if u make it again, let me know how it is!! :)
Maybe u should try a no eggs ice cream recipe! And just add some green tea powder in. I have tried custard based ice cream recipes before and the eggy taste really cover up the flavour of green tee a
Rachel Lee have you tried just adding a bit more of the macha powder to it the amount given is just for a general taste of it you can always play with the flavoring ingredients just not the base ones for the most part unless you want to make it with yogurt instead of the icecream mix :) good luck on finding a way to make it more to your tastes
This is my favorite type of ice cream
Makala Stevenson it is really delicious! I wouldn't say it's my absolute favorite but it's up there.

The Chinese restaurant that served matcha ice cream is now gone and I’m sad..it was my favorite and still is 😔
Yummy!
I wonder what would happen if you reduced the sugar amount, and added a bit of condensed milk.
I'd love to learn how to make red bean icecream.

One of my favorite ice cream! Hello from Ukraine)
I don't have ice cream maker. Can i put them in freezer instead? Thank you. I m going to try it today.its my daughter favorite ice cream.
My favorite so yummy :)
Where can you buy this kind of ice cream in stores? i've never seen it.
Went to a sushi place. Want this so badly
is it possible to make this without an ice-cream maker?
Yes but that is very tiresome. You need to keep it in the freezer, and then take it out every now and then to mix manually.
So u need to buy an expensive machine for good ice cream or buy your pre made ice cream
You need to put it in a pan- container etc. and store it in the freezer for 2 hours. With the machine, it’s 30 minutes or 25
P.S. Haagen Dazs Green Tea in the USA does not do matcha green tea homemade ice cream justice!
Matcha is my bae
😱😍🤤 too bad I don’t have an ice cream maker 😞
Would it be the same with almond milk ?
Wow!!

Can you find the green tea powder at regular stores? I don't have any Japanese stores near. (Couldn't you just find it in the Asian food section?)
*markets
Japen or chennai market any
It's not likely that you'll find them at regular grocery stores, but it's worth calling around to ask. If you can't find any in stores, you can easily get it off of Amazon.
Trader Joe's if you have one near you
I found matcha in Marshall's department store.
Marshall's is great! I find so many great food products there. 😃
Do you have to use heavy cream?
Luc Chibi
yea if you want it creamy
heavy cream makes the ice cream creamy when frozen, if you didn't use heavy cream it would come out icy crystal instead.
Can this be made without Ice cream maker?
easy to do ;)
is it ok to use hand mixer?"
Can we use milk or yogurt instead of heavy cream please ?
I think you need to have enough fat in the recipe to obtain a soft and creamy final product. But since an ice cream maker is involved, maybe it could work.
