I made this yesterday and it was perfect! So smooth and creamy. Just as good if not better than any green tea I've tried in a restaurant! I only made half the recipe as a test because I was hesitant to use so many eggs if it fails but it was so successful I will definitely be making the full recipe this weekend!

Made this yesterday, it definitely has a "clean" taste. It doesn't have the "rich creamy" texture that expensive ice cream has. I've made another batch of green tea ice cream two days ago and it was FANTASTIC and everyone wanted the recipe.
I used green tea in place of cinnamon in the "cinnamon ice cream" recipe from Allrecipes's website with some alterations. Here's my modified recipe:
-mix 1 egg + 1 egg yolk in a bowl, set aside
-Over medium low stir: 2/3 cup white sugar + 1 cup heavy cream +1/2 cup milk. Let it simmer for a sec, then take pot off heat
-after a minute: add 1.5T green tea powder (matcha) to pot, mix well until smooth* (pass mixture through a sieve a few times if you need to)
    - Pour half of this liquid *slowly** into bowl of eggs, whisking the eggs as you pour.
-Pour the rest of the egg mixture back into the pot
-Add 1 cup heavy cream to pot
-Stir *constantly** over medium low until the mixture coats a metal spoon
Then you know the rest (let it cool completely, put it in your ice cream mixer)
    Enjoy!

Oh my god, I made this today for the first time. I can say that it is truly delicious! And this video seems very easy to follow - I got the ingredients from their website. It hasn't yet frozen but I tasted the creamy mixture and it was delish (make sure it's not liquidy - else you didn't heat it enough - medium high heat I would say).

for me i have to use the Ziploc freezer bag method and take out every 10-15 min and knead it then put back till it gets the right consistency to transfer into a container other wise its a frozen solid block lol

I think you need to have enough fat in the recipe to obtain a soft and creamy final product. But since an ice cream maker is involved, maybe it could work.

I made the ice cream used ur recipe. I have to stir 3 times because i dun have a ice cream maker. It turns out well. Its nice but i dun like it because its too creamy, green tea taste fades. Do you have any recipe that brings out the green tea taste more than cream?

I did the same thing :/ it was too heavy and creamy :P I'm thinking of using just Whipping cream instead of heavy whipping cream. And maybe one or two less egg yolks. :) idk if u make it again, let me know how it is!! :)

Rachel Lee have you tried just adding a bit more of the macha powder to it the amount given is just for a general taste of it you can always play with the flavoring ingredients just not the base ones for the most part unless you want to make it with yogurt instead of the icecream mix :) good luck on finding a way to make it more to your tastes
