And these things are done to contribute to local people as well and when local people will only lose- what will it serve then?

Railway line is needed for poonch rajouri and doda kishtwar.....pahalgam needs road widening ....for a population of less than 1 lakh railway line is waste of resources...govt should instead run electric buses or give subsidies to private players for buying buses...from bejhbhera and anantnag town.
I agree that there will be loss of culivable land. But imo railway needs less land than road. and is important for national security. Yes govt should do dpr keeping interest of growers in mind but in view of security of country it is necessary. Additionally it will also open new spots for tourism. I come from a similar region along the western coast of india. konkan railway changed all that !. railways transportation is a fraction of road transportation cost . This was essential because the capacity of indian harbours along the western coast are being upgraded. kashmir is merely a part in the overall region . railways are essential through pahalgam for connectivity to ladakh . see the bigger picture. bottlenecks are overcome as a whole , not in parts.
