I have an aversion to doing this fight without my discord group. The times I've tried PF are exactly this experience you shared and I don't think I have the emotional fortitude to suck it up that way.
Community is Super ugly. Spend 30 minutes in PF filling, Finally zone in, 2 people in party A both want the same spot, one of them says to roll for it, someone leaves and it goes from 24/24 -> 11/24 and we were only doing positions for less than 1 min. Towers are #1 Group killer Followed by people talking shit causing people to leave. At times it feels like Im still back in wow with how this brings out the worst in people. Idk
Its toxic, its inconsistent in clears even with good groups, and the bonus doesnt even guarantee you get anything. I like the fight itself, but asking me to farm it with how hard it is to get a single clear means this will be truly dead content aside the one mostly empty discord in a couple patches. I've seen many elitists spout it not that hard, which if you are used to doing ultimates and savages yeah its not, but if you want players who dont normally raid to join and this is what they see then you have failed in every aspect. People arnt asking for this to be easy, they are asking for it not to be miserable.
It does feel like there's an issue with NA strats where platform healers die and their alliance doesn't have a rezzer then it's pretty much downhill from there. Probably intended for healers to be on the outside, but just doesn't feel great slowly slipping into a wipe.
Runs can be saved if that happens, but it requires almost everyone to be able to adjust accordingly. I know, because this happened to my alliance once lol My co healer died on platforms because his partner went to the wrong side so he died to tower/pairs, so we had like 3 people dead the entire time until after swap, but because the majority of people knew what they were doing (using tank lb3, healer lb3, healing other alliance members who got swapped to the wrong spot) we were able to recover with minimal deaths and still clear.
Chaotic is just like any EX honestly, but the difficulty is of course increased because of more people. Just like in EX3 for example, if you mess up ice bridge too often the party will disband, thats towers for chaotic. Chaotic has been super fun and barring a few issues, like corpse spawn/ raise locations its a good start. Its the most fun ive had in a while to the point where ive farmed 99 demi1 materia already, and all in pf. P1 is especially fun, so if in the future they do the same for p2, i wouldnt be against it.
I too finished my 99 materia farm all in PF. It’s very doable, which I mention. I just think it could be better and the community could do better. It’s a good first attempt… I just hope the next attempt is designed in a way that is better recoverable - let those who can manage the mechs and potentially save a run do so. Too many runs I’m on tiles and bodies drop on platforms and I can do nothing.
@FFXIVLatti Chaotic is somewhat recoverable, but it does require more than just a few people to save it. I don't know, the difficulty is fine I think personally, the mechanics are not any different from an EX, it's just having weird stuff like corpse spawn mechanics being goofy that makes the experience worse then it is. If for example, you could choose where to respawn either next to the healer who raised you, or at the location you died at, p2 would be a much smoother experience I think Edit: I do agree that the community can and should be better though, having more people should mean having more patience not less.
So I'll say this about the chaotic alliance raid. I learned on CODCAR which is not used by most of the community, but there's a bright side to that. We became close knit. I know the people who can clear on my data center, and everyone else knows as well, so I'll join one of their PFs, or they'll join mine, and we end up getting groups that clear 2 times per hour. It's honestly been a great way to make new friends for me.
unrelated but: is my headset busted, or can i only hear you in my left ear? if that was intentional, please put it in both ears next time. it's very jarring.
@@audiocatttThank you. I don’t use headphones and have an XLR mic so it’s a learning process. I didn’t use recording software but I will next time so I have control over audio channels.
Its like ppl have not played mmo's before, the whole mmo experience is challenging fights with groups of players since the dawn ages, the problem with chaotic is not the fight but the WHOLE NA COMMUNITY, I really hope they take feedback from JP players, because they actually see the content for what it is and dont just want some brainded casual garbage that theyve been putting out recently, already 30 clears in pf I should prob make a vid at this point too😂
The FF14 community as a whole is great. But the toxicity in PF for this particular fight I get. When you've had failed run after failed run and this goes on for numerous parties it just gets exhausting. Even the most upbeat and positive player gets tuckered out of a domino effect wipe because of a towers issue. (And that'll be for farm parties!) What is especially dumb is if a party disbands after 3 failed pulls, guess what, you're likely with mostly those exact same players in your new PF party as 24 people seek a new group. Just, lord almighty, stick with a group and work out the kinks. Ask what's up. Sometimes a person has been on A team side and just switched to C and made a mistake, or someone just had a natural, very human slip-up. It happens.
It's always only the games fault. XIV was proof that a have can 'create' a positive community. Now it's proof of the opposite. You want people to not abandon an instance that clearly isn't going to clear? Reward them for not abandoning. Punish them if they do. It really is that simple. It can be done. It's software. Anything is possible.

I haven't even bothered with it because PF is always a mess. I have zero desire to fight with people. Especially 23 people.
the thing i hate about pf raid is . ppl expect you to instantly knew all the mechanic, proceed to shit on you and then abandone the pf ..

why do i hear your voices on the left side of my headset? i tested other video and they found fine but yours is the only one that does it
It recorded wrong. I mention it in my description, sorry!
