Coyote is the type of guy that would help anyone and help someone stay out of danger. Props to you Coyote!!
Its interesting to see how Caimans have evolved for their environment. They have more robust osteoderms to protect from larger threats, more bony ridges on their head to also protect them and nocturnal because that's when the larger crocodilians are out. Some species are very terrestrial because they are smaller so can dedicate more muscle into mobility instead of just supporting their weight.
Yes the curviers dwarf camain is very terrestrial. They hint on land at night and hide in water in the day . One of my favorites.
He gets the caiman cleaned up while Coyote is still all muddy😂.

Honestly I think Coyote is having the time of his life at Costa Rica. He's already found some amazing creatures. Bullet Ant, Screaming Jungle Frog, the Giant Blue Prawn he found, but hilariously lost, and now this thing. Costa Rica seems to me like his favorite place to be for finding these giant creatures. Coyote, I hope your having a blast of a time buddy. Thank you for risking your life for us so we can admire these creatures.

Crocodilians have very powerful closing muscles attached to their jaws, but because of that they have equally weak opening muscles as well. you can keep their jaws shut but they can easily shake you off.

They have a really strong closing force but not an opening force. That's why they can be held by just tape. So he can hold it's mouth with one hand and take the tape off with another, and release it.

Yay! Wonderful job! Thanks for putting him/her back in the wild. I work at a wonderful reptile zoo, and just went through some intense crocodilian training. From capturing, to "holding," to taping, to showing, to back down, etc. etc. So many little steps you have to remember to not get bitten!
