Been a long time using beard brand products, I was afraid of the new reformulations (styling paste, shampoo + conditioner), however I was pleasantly surprised that, while different than their old counterparts, they still work amazingly. I keep coming back to beardbrand as nothing else compares. Keep up the great work.
I still love your products. I appreciate the fact you are not afraid to try to make them better, but acknowledge if it doesn't work instead of letting ego or bull headiness lead you down the wrong path. Keep up the good work and don't give up the fight.
No ones journey in life..or business...is without its hiccups. If anyone can pick up and grow from this, its you, Eric. Thanks again for your transparency to everyone.....KEEP ON GROWING!
Still a great tribe to drop in on and see what’s up! This has been a terrific experience growing a major beard and you guys hit the right chord. Costs have gone up on everything. This is a lifestyle brand and and it’s worth it. You’ve got a loyal fan base I’m a fan.
I respect this video, the honesty and also understand the issues you had. I've just started using your products and must have gotten the bad batches of the paste and balms which I've just put to the side and put down to bad experience. After seeing this I'll reconsider trying again when I have the money. Sadly, I bought the products through an Australian reseller so assume I can't return.
The last few years have been tough on so many people and businesses. Sending positive vibes to all at Beardbrand. Wrong choices and challenges happen. Don’t be defined by the mistakes that you made, be remembered for what you did to grow after them. Excited to hear mention of Europe. We miss having Beardbrand available.
I have always been a loyal customer of BB. The only adjustment I would beg for is to bring back Tea Tree! It was a subscription of mine for years. It was the only item in the beard product world that didn’t cause skin issues!
I have purchased many jars of Old Money beard balm over the years and I used to love it. I’m really hoping you go back to the old formulation because the new formulation doesn’t really work. It’s too thin and doesn’t have any hold. It smells differently too. It’s close but not the same (that’s not a deal breaker, but I wish it wasn’t so and so does my wife who also preferred the old formulation). I have a pretty neat trim beard and the old beard balm in the glass jar used it to give it a good sheen and hold back fly aways. It kept things looking clean. But the new stuff is too thin and doesn’t have any hold. I use it and can’t tell that I put any on. Hoping you’ll consider going back to what used to work. If you do I’ll keep buying more product. I just can’t justify buying any more of the current formulation. Wishing the best of luck as you move forward. Takes a lot of courage to put a video out like this one but also shows everyone you care and you’re doing your best. We get it and understand.
I didn’t realize until now but I’ve been a customer of Beardbrand for 4 years now!! I can’t believe how time has flown by! Discovering Beardbrand in 2020 was such a huge change for me!! Every body that’s part of Beardbrand has inspired me and has given me a love/ passion to love taking care of my appearance. I also love the aluminium packaging as well!! I recently got the beard wash and softener in Temple smoke and my god!! Temple smoke is my new favorite scent!! Keep doing you Eric and keep on growing!👍😁
Thanks for the explanation on the status of the company and brand. This is a tough environment nowadays. Been using your products since January 2016 (Tree Ranger and Spiced Citrus beard oil were my first products). I stocked up on a lot of your discontinued scents about a year ago so I’m not buying anything anytime soon, but I still am loyal to Beardbrand. Best wishes to you guys, and keep on growin’!
Your candor and transparency is appreciated so much. “Keep on growing” is a perfect mantra for both sides of the brand/customer fence. I wish you and your team all the best.
Hopefully this is eye-opening nuance that helps people understand the swings, misses, anvils falling from the sky, slipped on banana peels, triumphs, and fierce rallies in both business and life. Glad to see it only sharpens your focus and resiliency. Appreciate you Eric, the entire Beardbrand team, and the Alliance.
I love when a company is willing to be honest with their group. I hope the best for your company and I will for sure make my next beard product purchase a beard brand buy. Good luck! Keep growing!
Eric, Thank You for your transparency and the brand update. As a longtime supporter, your original sample pack was my first Beard purchase, I have always enjoyed your products and designs. I was sad when certain fragrances went away “Four Vices, “ but growth is about change. I also like the larger size and the aluminum containers. I do look forward to the future of Beardbrand and All that holds. Love, Blessings, and Keep On Growing ❤️🤓🙏❤️
Love your honestly and commitment to quality and excellence and love your products regardless of price. Love the New Utility Balm; "grains" are SO not an issue. I'm very happy to see that the old Temple Smoke is back in UB and hopefully on Styling Balm and deodorant. Your products are an intimate part of my life and are a gift to my life each day - So grateful for you and all you do
Thank you so much Eric! I appreciate your candor and honest and open leadership. Beardbrand is an awesome brand! And has an even more awesome user community!
I love Beardbrand and have been using it for a few years now. I no longer have my long beard, just rocking the stubble and mustache now, but I still use and love the products. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the update, Eric. I'll always side with prioritizing quality over price, and even prioritizing quality over availability (within reason). Every time I use the product I want it the best it can be, and the thought of using something subpar that saves me a few dollars a jar (I jar that I go through maybe once every 2 months) does not appeal to me. That's why I stick with Beardbrand.
I have been with you since the beginning. About halfway through, your journey changes happened, and I gravitated away. Early on I liked the sents available and all the collaboration you did in the start. Several of the sents changed or went away and there was that initial price bump. I tried other brands, and after the aluminum launch I came back. With the larger packaging even with the price bump you are in line with most brands now. So far I am happy and will stick back with BB. I am glad to see the open and honest conversations returning.
I absolutely LOVE this video. Thank you. Well done. My reaction to this excellent video is, “How can I help grow your business?” I’m sure others had the same reaction. Don’t quit. Keep going.
I have always enjoyed your products, and ever since I’ve retired from the Army 7 years ago I have been with Beardbrand (for the most part), it took me a while to find you but I have been loyal to the brand. What I appreciate about you and the company is you’re willing to go on and talk about the issues you are having. So thank you for not being perfect and talking about your struggles. That is why I will stick with Beardbrand!!!
BeardBrand, keep your head up. If things aren’t going right you’re not working. Rome wasn’t built in a day, fine wine only gets better with time. The passion shows, sometimes things work sometimes they don’t. The ones that leave at a drop of a hat are the ones you don’t want. Us true blues will be with you guys for the long haul. You are in a niche market. Most people are too ignorant to understand what’s in front of them. Gold isn’t purified until it’s put through some heat. Accept the heat and start purifying some precious gold. Love ya guys!
I’m a new customer and love the products. My first order was the old money bundle and love all four products. I don’t have the history and just know what I know based on using the products for the past month. Thanks for producing, marketing and selling these beard products.
I would suggest something about shipping. While this isnt an issue for someone who is just getting a balm or just the wash, it comes up if they are getting both. I recently ordered the balm, wash and softener. It seems in shipping that the heavier wash and softener tends to dent the smaller lighter balm aluminum. This becomes a problem (like in my case) if the dent happens near the lid screw on area. This makes trying to screw on or off the lid of the balm extremely difficult. I usually just leave the lid partially on in the morning because I just dont have the time to play with it then. Id suggest a better protective wrap on the balm when being shipped out with heavier items like the wash etc. And.. i miss spiced citrus
Love the products, love the video, love the transparency. I will say that over the past several years I’ve been cutting out products that contain palm oil and I realize that’s probably not high on your list of changes but it would be nice to see companies like yours take a diligent stance against the monster that is the palm oil industry.
Beardbrand is a top of the line product and I love the scents. I use Beardbrand products daily in my grooming care and appreciate your attention to quality of care. I have experienced the granulations in the utility balm but was easy to solve with glass jars by heating in microwave and cooling in the refrigerator. Aluminum makes it a bit more challenging but still not difficult. The quality of the product is worth it and granules brush or comb out easily. The high quality oils are worth the effort. I am excited by the new deodorant line as unfortunately I have a rash reaction to the old formulations. I look forward to staying with you through your growing process. Your commitment to a quality oils, quality scents and to help men grow is admirable.
I don’t mind the crystallization issue. I just take it as expected in the product for the Util. balm. It’s a negligible issue for me. And, I enjoy the balm. As far as the price. It is just fine. I’m a fan of BB.
I had a different brand of product for my mustache that suffered from crystallization, but it didn't affect its performance. And after it's been on for awhile it melts and dissipates to where it is not visible. I don't use it anymore though, and in fact have stopped using any product on my beard or mustache. I have tried light mustache balm and also wax when I stopped trimming my mustache. But after a few months I couldn't stand the hairs in my mouth when eating and drinking. I was constantly having to wipe with a napkin and it was a PITA.
I love Beardbrand, love the new packaging (though the wider tin is hard to screw the cap on and I welcome this change,) and love the new formulation of styling paste. Keep doing what you're doing, I know others feel like I do, and we're with you.
It's been said already, but the transparency in this video is legendary. As a consumer, I just want an honest company. Thanks so much for the video... I have been and will continue to be a valued customer.
It never has. It's always been awesome. Yes, there have been fragrances that I (or the wife) haven't liked so much, but it's all part of the journey. You're still my go-to when it comes to beard care. Cheers!
I am sure that the beard product market is a tough one, and the market is flooded with them. But there is only one BB, and Eric communicates to his customers and doesn’t take the money and kickem to the curb. Products are great, so is the customer service. I think the market will merge with all these beard oil companies eventually and BB will be one of the pillars left standing. And that is because of Eric and videos of honesty and transparency , and a great product.
I bought the sample pack just to see which scent I like best, then I'll buy that scent in a wash, oil, and balm. I like the idea of having a larger size and "utility" that does everything. Hopefully I really like one of the scents. i may even pick up the new collab scent you came out with in a utility oil because it sounds right up my alley and it's not offered in a sample.
Sorry for all the issues you have faced. For me the bottom line is the quality has suffered. I have two jars of Temple Smoke Balm that is grainy and had no scent to them. They have sat on my self for two years.
You should follow the model that fast food chains follow. Yes, continue to grow and change, but keep your classics. (Never get rid of the Big Mac). If you hadn't changed the original formulation of Old Money, I would still be buying your products now. I paid the premium price because I believed I was buying a premium product...I never had an issue with the price years ago.
Your transparency in everything you do has always been so appreciated, and is a reflection of your motivation - to genuinely provide an awesome experience. I have always enjoyed beardbrand products - as a minimalist, especially the utility products - and the overall experience far beyond that of any other products/companies on the market. While the products themselves may be a little more expensive than other available options, you certainly get what you pay for - or rather, invest in. The quality is very much top notch... scents, feel, effect, and so on. Additionally, if price really is a sticking point for folks, more minimalist options are possible with Beardbrand. I have medium-length hair, head and beard, and almost exclusively use the Utility Bar and Utility Balm. Those two simple yet amazing products cover it all - cleaning/cleansing and moisturizing/conditioning/hydrating - literally head to toe. Keep being the awesome and amazing group you are Beardbrand!!
Beardbrand is still the #1 company I recommend to anyone for beard/hair items. I’ve been using your products for 5+ years and will keep using them. I was not a fan of the aluminum cans, but that is a personal preference because I miss glass jars/bottles. BUT the added quantity made it a no brainer. Over the years I’ve only had one issue where the balm/utility would flake off and show on black t-shirts. I melted it and froze it and the problem went away so I figured it was a shipping issue since I live in AZ and it was summer. Looking forward to the new EDP and I should sign up for the alliance form to be a tester.
Old video, but it's great to hear that you're trying to get back into Europe. Thanks to a tip I got from Eric quite a few years ago, I can order Beardbrand to Europe, but the costs are pretty steep. I can't wait to see you guys back in these parts. As for the products themselves, I was seriously disappointed with the new Old Money formulation. But you guys worked through that, got back to the old formulation, and made it right again.
First and foremost, I greatly respect a businessman who is upfront and honest. I was planning on going with a different company only because I wanted to try out some new products from different brands, and then I was going to come back to beardbrand later on down the line. Now because of the honesty I honestly want to skip out on trying new companies and try out the new beardbrand stuff! My only complaint, why did you guys change the most amazing scent you guys got for Europe?? Would've been just a better move to ditch Europe in my opinion. Money says (Old Money) that with how strict that part of the world is they'll come up with something else down the line that is deemed "dangerous" and made illegal.
It's crazy that I've been reading your comments for 9 years. A lot has happened over that time. I looked up the history and it looks like your first comment was on my puppet video. Such an odd video to get started on. :D -Eric
I would've come back, but availability has been a bit rough. I think I first bought your stuff off eBay and every time I've looked there or German Amazon, it's pretty much no-go. I can't recall what the shipping is like directly from your webstore though. Been a while since I've checked.
I would love a test run of the new deodorant. I've been anticipating the release of deodorant 2.0. I really don't like the in store scents and nothing matches all my beard brand stuff.
Hey Eric, Please make product scents little long-lasting when its in the container/ jar cause through time the scent of the utility balm is changing when its in the container itself because it's a 4.5 oz container and its lasts longer than other brands butter. Old Money & Temple Smoke are facing these problem cause I've then both its scent changes through time.
Having been in a small business what he has to say is incredibly valuable experience. If you are thinking about or have a small business listen to this several times, you will not regret it.
I think the new taller aluminum packaging is great. Also I don’t mind paying a premium price for your premium product. Thank you for going back to the original formula. The grains breakdown so easily that I don’t consider it a problem to be honest. In my city we have several thriving farmers/arts/crafts markets attended by thousands every weekend. At those I’m constantly surprised by how many guys with beards there are that those. I’ve often thought I wish we had a booth with beardbrand products because I think they would sell quite well. Maybe you’d be open to having a beardbrand ambassador in an area (such as myself maybe) and run a booth with your products? Just a thought.
@@BeardbrandAlliance looking forward to it good sir. I have struggled to find a decent alternative but also loved to support you guys just for the general vibe and how you carried yourself. this vid is another great example.
I’ve had a few jars of gold line balms for literal years that I use sparingly because it’s so hard/expensive to buy more since you stopped shipping to the UK. There are a few local guys that make nice products but, honestly, nothing I’ve used is as good a Beardbrand products so I’ll definitely welcome your return!
Ya, I hear ya. Y'alls regulators just make it a lot more burdensome to do business there than here in America. Can always use a freight forwarder like myus.com, but that makes it pretty expensive.
I was just starting to get curious about where the company was at and what y’all were up to, so this transparency was well timed and well said. Thank you for sharing your honesty and passion with us. I want you all to be able to take risks, have freedom, in your decision-making. You can trust that I’ll be looking forward to buying again and continuing my loyalty. Can’t wait for that new Temple Smoke!
You guys have some of the ultimate scents ever made for beard products. Specifically the gold line. My only real issue is the dropping of four vices and that new scents aren't introduced. Many beard oil companies have tons of scents available, seasonal etc. Beard brand dropped several scents. Bring back the four vices please. Old money and temple smoke are some of the best ever.
I'm fine with the premium price because the quality is high and the scents are very good. But you went from 6 scents to 3. I would love to see more scents.
Just bought the Utility Balm and sorry, but it's just not the same as the original that came in a glass jar. Grainy, oily, thin, and the scent is off. I understand the operational challenges, but the product is just not the same. Not a repeat but for me unfortunately. Really bummed because I loved the previous formula. I hope you guys get over the hump. Rooting for you.
We have a couple of Four Vices still available on our "found fragrances" page that was only sent to subscribers. www.beardbrand.com/collections/found-fragrances
Eric, your products have been a lifesaver for me and my beard. You will always have the trolls, the naysayers(ie, Shark Tank) and the haters. If the products are too expensive for the penny pinchers let them buy the Crumbo😅 or the Gillette garbage. You get what you pay for! As for the utility balm issues and before your suggestions I had already melted the stuff down and threw it in the refrigerator. The only down side to that action was the fragrance deteriorated a bit. The only way I’ll quit you guys is when my beard hair falls out or you go out of business but with your business mind Eric, that’ll never happen.
Eric I appreciate the updates and the candor. I’ve been a Beardbrand customer for nearly five years. I have to admit that I’ve been frustrated on and off with the changes and lack of available inventory recently. I know there’s a fine line between not communicating enough and communicating too much with customers. I think recently there’s been some under communication about shortages and whatnot (at least from my POV) but a video like this does a nice job of giving some insight into the “why” behind the current state of your business. Honestly, I had no idea that you all were in this middle ground from a production perspective. I just assumed you were bigger. 🤷🏻♂️ My two cents: focus on showing us the behind the scenes of running a growing small business rather than “Beard model shocks his family by shaving!!!1!!11!”😂 In the end, as a Temple Smoke user, this has pushed me to try some other fragrances as well which has been cool. Thanks for the communication and keep growing both the beard and the company.
There's a lot that I share in the Alliance forums, including why there are stock issues and how we're handling different problems. The viewership tends to be lower for business related stuff so that's why I don't produce too much content on it; despite enjoying it. Appreciate your support! -Eric
Yo you keeping the long hair growing? I grew my hair out years ago when you did it the first time around 2016 when I started following you guys. Still been rocking it ever since. Been planning to chop it off for a bit haven’t made the commitment yet. Keep pushing it off 😅
I'm kinda the same. I've been getting annoyed with it (especially in the shower when dealing with all these shedding hairs). But then there are times I really like the look; so I kick the can down the road. -Eric
Thanks for the insight! Not going to lie the recent price jump wasn’t my favorite, but this helped me understand why it happened. Still hoping for a deodorant relaunch soon!
I'm not sure how anyone watching this video doesn't immediately have a new or renewed respect for Eric and Beardbrand. Easy for me to say as someone who does not depend upon BB to make a living, but the person who hears this candid report on the how's and the why's and still says, "whatever man, I'm out," quite frankly is unworthy of using the products of a company built upon the mission of growing and evolving. Consider it an unanticipated purge of a percentage of the client base that is misaligned with BB's core values while a certain distillation of true BB customers occurs, customers that rally behind the changes and recruit other like-minded beardsmen to support the company, knowing this is the best line of men's grooming products out there. 1000% behind you, BB. Let's go!!!
Well.....2 cents of advice: keep doing what you were doing well...... and if you want to "risk and expand and change", just do another brand, go cheaper and sell more units.....
You can get Blank Slate on Amazon. But once we sell out of that, I don't think we'll re-stock it. www.amazon.com/s?k=blank+slate+beardbrand&crid=3KFJHNSEC7M9R&sprefix=blank+slate+beardbrand%2Caps%2C127&ref=nb_sb_noss_1 -Eric

I just take it as expected in the product for the
Util. balm. It’s a negligible issue for me. And, I enjoy the balm. As far as the price. It is just fine. I’m a fan of BB.
Been using your beard oil and sea salt spray for a couple years now.
Still impressed with both.
Thanks for the honesty and forthcomingness, always love Beardbrand!
I love Beardbrand, love the new packaging (though the wider tin is hard to screw the cap on and I welcome this change,) and love the new formulation of styling paste. Keep doing what you're doing, I know others feel like I do, and we're with you.
Fascinating video. Thanks!
Love the new vision. Good luck!
Ur great Eric! Hope all is well!
I actually like the grains in my balm. Glad the old formula is back. I’ll be picking up some once my current inventory starts running low
You'd like the current batch's texture then. Got the crystals, but they melt super easy.
I'll be honest eric the grains aren't that big of a deal I still trust and love this company, also the beard looks great.
I don't have any problems with my products from your company keep rocking it
Man, I appreciate the transparency.
keep on keeping on man! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
You're a good man, Bandholz.
It's crazy that I've been reading your comments for 9 years. A lot has happened over that time. I looked up the history and it looks like your first comment was on my puppet video. Such an odd video to get started on. :D -Eric
@@BeardbrandAlliance You have a puppet video and I commented on it AND it was your first video that I commented on??
Eric what an awesome presentation. You are the reason for the brand, Beardbrand.
I see why things changed there. I used to love the Tea tree line of oil / soap / beard wash. I hope to come back someday.
Well done, Eric. Nice job talking about the challenges Beardbrand has been facing, I applaud your candid approach. Keep on keeping on! 👏👏👏
So when can i expect beardbrand back in the uk?
At this point; probably 2024. Was originally hoping this year, but the manufacturing setbacks put a big dent in our distribution strategies. -Eric
Eric you keep doing you . And Beardbrand will in my opinion the best thing that ever was. Keep on growing.
If i could buy it in Europe that'd be nice 😂
I have the utility balm and it’s really grainy. What’s the best way to melt it down before I put it in the fridge?
Double boil it. I did a video on it here that shows how I like to do it: ua-cam.com/video/5KnLR0rOv8I/v-deo.html
-Eric
I love the product, but miss 4 vises!
We have a couple of Four Vices still available on our "found fragrances" page that was only sent to subscribers. www.beardbrand.com/collections/found-fragrances
You are looking good man! Some fleetwoodmac vibes!
Thanks for the video! I like the aluminum! Your products are still better than the other guys.
I love your hair and beard ❤
Thanks!
Beardbrand helped me to start my beard quest. And yea I've tried other beard grooming companies, butt I always go back to the original, Beardbrand❤
Beardbrand is awesome
Still a loyal customer and will stay a loyal customer, thanks for the transparency.
I still love Beardbrand , and I was part of the alliance but I can't seem to be able to get back in but I'm always watching UA-cam clips. ❤️
Wish ya' stock up a bit, like what happen to all the lovley good ol' beard oils.
GODSPEED! Eric.
🤷🏻♂️ My two cents: focus on showing us the behind the scenes of running a growing small business rather than “Beard model shocks his family by shaving!!!1!!11!”😂
In the end, as a Temple Smoke user, this has pushed me to try some other fragrances as well which has been cool. Thanks for the communication and keep growing both the beard and the company.
Also definitely stick with aluminum…plastic is the worst!
-Eric
@@BeardbrandAlliancekeep it going man - looks cool
Are there still plans to ship to the UK again in 2023? I made all my Beardbrand stuff last as long as i could but long gone now 😂
Probably not likely we'll get it launched this year. Myus.com is an option; but it's a little pricey.
@eric keep on growing and come back to UK and EU. Good luck with everything.
I guess that’s why I don’t see your beard oil or beard balm in target anymore
Thanks for the insight! Not going to lie the recent price jump wasn’t my favorite, but this helped me understand why it happened. Still hoping for a deodorant relaunch soon!
Get in the Alliance, we have deodorant prototypes going out soon to a few beta testers. Limited offering though and feedback is needed.
@@EricBandholz haven’t been on Alliance in a while but I’m back! Would love to be a tester.
Love it when you talk bidness dude.
You might enjoy my podcast then. :) open.spotify.com/show/2Ql2TyQIIZA1ohElMCg0rC -Eric
Let's go!!!
Hell ya Mark. You got me pumped up to run through a wall. :D -Eric
Thank for the transparency of what is going on at Beard Brand!
Well.....2 cents of advice: keep doing what you were doing well...... and if you want to "risk and expand and change", just do another brand, go cheaper and sell more units.....
I would come back if you guys would bring back the Blank Slate line
You can get Blank Slate on Amazon. But once we sell out of that, I don't think we'll re-stock it.
