Antique Rusty Cleaver Butcher Restoration

- Hello folks! Today I want to show you my new restoration video! That antique rusty cleaver I found as usual at flea market. It's perfect steel and perfectly suitable for cutting meat, fish, fruits, etc. Well, actually I started my restoration from cleaning the cleaver off rust and dirty. Then I used electrolysis to remove all rust. The second step was a grind, first point: by an angle grinder, second point: by sander. Finally, after polishing I get matte effect on the blade and started to make a wood handle for butcher cleaver. I used a chestnut tree and four brass pins with diameter 6 mm. At the end of the restoration, I soaked the handle with linseed oil and of course did the test for you! I hope you enjoy this restoration project!
Sincerely, Alex. Thanks for attention!
Good luck and health to everyone! With best wishes, Alex!

Your English is great. No need to apologise!
I love that you do so much with simple tools, in a small space with such passion and ingenuity.
Thank you for your great videos ❤
Thank you for your kind words! Good to hear! ^_^
Your command of the English language is far superior to my command of yours.
You speak better English than most Trump voters in the US.
My new hobby is watching other people's hobbies. Perfect job. 👏👏
Thank you sir!
The good thing is that you don't get tired hahahaha
I would like to see the flea markets you go to. With what you post it has sparked my interest in both butchery and restoration of the old cleavers and knives used in the past and what they were used to do.
Never apologize for your English! It makes perfect sense to me. Well done for trying (and succeeding)!
Thank you, sir!
That handle turned out better than expected ...❤👍
Thank you!
I love the way the handles turn out, always so beautiful
Your English is outstanding I am in the United States and have absolutely no problem with it. Please keep up your GREAT WORK I truly enjoy watching!!!!
Your workmanship is exquisite. I would make only one suggestion. On the handle, at the very rear, I would have made the last hole much larger and used a piece of brass tubing instead of the solid rods in front. That way you have a place to hang the cleaver instead of throwing it in a drawer.
Hello sir, thank you for advice! I will consider it next time. Thank you so much!
I love all the unusual knives and cleavers you restore. Keep it up, I enjoy this a lot.
Thank you so much!
Beautiful job on the most unique cleaver blade I've ever seen.
Thank you!
That turned out beautiful
I love the cleaver and I love the wood you used. I would suggest you get a knife-grinding jig or make one. You put an apple seed edge on the cleaver. That's great for crushing bones. To do the cutting you're doing cut shallow bevels and a finer edge. I really wish we could work together.
Yes , thank you for your attention and interest . Now I'm already sharpening knives and other objects mainly on stones. A lot of time has passed, but there is a result that pleases. Have you watched the new releases?
I like the handle and that finish on that blade is outstanding
One of the best restoration.
Thank you for the video.
That is the best restoration I've ever seen you do. It's perfect! Nice job.
Thank you sir!
For me you are a master at what you do, I admire your perfection - Dariusz from Poland.
Thank you so much, sir! ^_^
I love the chestnut. I turned out great. thanks for sharing...
That's an awesome job you done on the butchers cleaver
Beautiful work on the handle. Great job
Cool project. That wood made a nice looking handle.
Super, I like your new work, handle looks amazing. Strange cleaver never seen such before
Thank you! ^_^
Man you speak better English than half of the people I've met. Great job on the resto. Besides it's Your channel.
Beautiful restoration, as is all of your work. Your English is fine my friend.
Your English may not be perfect, but it’s perfectly understood.
We understand you just fine. 🙂
Love watching your videos.
Much love from from Canada 🇨🇦
Thank you so much!! ^_^
So pleased to see you maintain the integrity of the metal's original shape designed to increase heft when being used to cleave. This is truly good work, but use it to cleave meat and you will realize how perfect its purpose.
Another job well done. You do good work! 👍👍
Very nicely made, the handle work was quite well done. Thanks for sharing this video with us and please keep them coming. Nicely done, sir very nicely done.
Beautifully restored! Well done! Great to have in the kitchen.
VERY useful tool ! Not for show but for use !
woah just woah. as always super awesome
Absolutely love the work you do. Gives me amazing inspiration for my projects
Love how this one turned out. Looks great. I'm really enjoying your restoration videos. Keep up the great work!
Your English is just fine, you should explain your process more often. Keep up the good work!
Will do, sir!
Молодчина!👍 Ты бы с нождачным станком (заточным) поаккуратнее был! На многих видео замечал что ты ногу ставишь возле второго крутящегося камня, не дай бог штанину прихватит!🙂
Bolshoe spasibo!
Your English is fine. It doesn’t have to be perfect. We can all understand you without any difficulty.
Thank you sir!
That is beautiful, my kind of cleaver.
Отличная работа. Мне очень понравилось, но нужно учиться точить спуски на лезвии. Попробуй потренироваться на металлических пластинах. Опорный столик на наждаке будет очень помогать делать ровные спуски.
Spasibo, da spuski nujno improve!
Exceptionally well done, sir.
That was such a transformation and so well done!
Круто! Отличная работа!👍👍👍
Отличный результат, несмотря на кучу ненужных, трудоёмких операций! Вот зачем, например, электрохимическое удаление ржавчины перед зачисткой болгаркой? И это только один, самый очевидный ляп.
Beautiful!
Beautiful work!
Looks great! I need to start looking for things to restore.
your English is just fine......better than some people here in America......also, good work on the cleaver
Как всегда отличная работа!!!
Ha you speak better English than I do and I'm born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana!!

You are lucky to have chestnut to work with. The Chestnut blight they had years ago decimated the chestnut growth in the US. Too bad, it's a lovely, workable wood that had a decent hardness but not so hard you can't work it with standard tools. For a guy that likes to hand work it like you do, that's a good thing. They are bringing chesnut back, but in actually it's a different variety than what used to grow in the US.
Thanks for information! I know you said me don't call you sir but you know, it's hard for me not to call you sir because you're older than me and I'm ashamed.
@@ScrewsAndTools I'm older than dirt. Why are you ashamed. So far as I can see, you have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. You're a hard working man, you've already got skills I never had, and some I used to have 50 years ago. Way I see it, it's just one guy yakkin with another, and when it's like that, there's no sirs involved. too bad we can't literally hit a cantina and have a beer or three and shoot the breeze. I know when I was a kid, every guy that was grown was supposed to be a sir. I got tired of that crap fast. They say it's a sign of respect, but say if you want my respect, earn it, and you have. I should be calling you sir, so far as showing respect, but in my world that fast became a derogatory term so I don't call anyone sir unless I mean to be derogatory. Sir is a version of sire, and sure an't know sires here, except for maybe if you're talking horses or whatever.
Ну шикардос, руки трудовые огонь, это вам не менеджеры в офисах
Просто отлично!
Awesome informational educational video experience Y'alls
Una restauración hermosa , esa hacha quedó bella .
Your English is just fine my friend

It’s been amazing to watch how much you have improved! Another excellent job, friend!
Thank you!! ^_^
Great work!!👍
Very good job! Don't worry about your English it is good enough.
Congratulations!
Hi bro 👋👋👋 unusual cleaver 😳 very good restoration 👍👍👍 you are a master of his craft 👌🏽💪
Thank you so much!
Suggestion: Making a pattern from the original is a great idea. I would like to see more people making a copy of the original in order to preserve its history. Clean and seal the original and make one like it or your version of it. Nice work by the way.
I like watching your videos. You do a good job and your English is just fine. You need to get a heater to. Your shop looks cold.
Thank you sir. ^_^
Good job!

Thats nice
*COOL!!!*
Came out good. Where do you find these interesting cleavers and knives?
Hello! Thank you for attention. Usually, at flea market.
@@ScrewsAndTools keep it up. Going good.
Great work! Have you considered using cheap toothpaste for final polish? Yes, it really works. I use that method for cleaning and polishing all my metals.
Hello sir, very interesting! I hear for the first time but I will definitely try! Thank you ^_^
@@ScrewsAndTools absolutely! I learned it from a friend who used it to polish his cymbals on his drum kit, when we were kids
@@shaunemicheal7362 I will try, sir. Regards!
awesome job mate love watching you Hugs .
Wow! Very good job.
The knife is very pretty.
