Dior fabric bag is really of bad quality. I bought saddle belt bag and i realised it has loose thread. Went back to the store to change and all other 4 have the same issues. 1 of it is worst there’s loose glue dangling on the bag. I was quite disappointed 😢

I know exactly how you feel. My limited isetan book tote from Japan oxidized and it turned the green to yellow! And they had the audacity to call my bag a fake… until i provided all the paperwork. 🙄

The boutique I usually shop at wouldn’t help me because I bought it online even though the representative online said I could go to a boutique for help if I thought that would be more convenient. I did another video talking about this whole ordeal if you want to know the details but long story short, the e-commerce team ultimately refunded me but the whole process was like pulling teeth.
Urgh, I have been dreaming of this bag (in the reverse toile pattern) for years. I ordered it pre-loved and though the bag was from 2023, it was completely discolored all around the top, with one orange corner. I complained to the platform and will now send it back. But now I don’t know what to do. Do I just give up on the bag forever? It seems like a big risk to buy it for full price if it might only change color after the warranty expires. It’s so gorgeous, but not with the discoloration which looks so dirty.
According to my SA, the previous batch of book tote have this glue issue but it only happens to certain prints and the newer version from 2023 onwards doesn’t have this issue especially for the newer prints

I don't have a book tote yet, but I'm thinking about getting one. However, I had this exact same yellowing glue situation happen to my Stella McCartney Falabella cotton crochet bag (it's a cream/ivory color and definitely authentic.) I used pure acetone to remove the residue and it worked very well. It did not ruin the material and erased the marks completely. But use caution when trying on these book totes since they are printed. Maybe try on a hidden area first and use sparingly (only on the areas where it shows)! 🌙
machine embroidery really isn't worth this price lol. It's very cheap to make this sort of thing, even if it is 1,000,000+ stitches, that's only about $20 of cotton thread, probably the fabric is also similarly inexpensive. As always you are paying for the design and the logo, but at least leather lasts and thus keeps its value better!
that reminds me, i really gotta go to a boutique one day and see this up close and personal, i'd really love to figure out exactly how they're put together so i can make one myself out of silk haha
I agree on you about machine embroidery. With the price of the bag, I thought the things were embroidered by hand. Finding out otherwise made me turned off on the bag. I still admire the designs, but think its way overpriced.
Such a long grumpy video over the glue. I have 3 of these bags and the glue stains are very very minor. But importantly, is the bag serving you well? For me it’s an excellent all in 1 bag for work. Ultimately we all knew it was overpriced fabric to begin with, and fabric is held in place by fabric glue. I don’t think the bag looks disgusting from your video , it’s just like how a balenciaga motorcycle bag looks bashed up after use, that doesn’t make it disgusting right ? That’s only that one day it walked out from the boutique .

its common for fabric bag using glue. Overtime, yellow or brown color will appear on the fabric. I owned many fabric bags from several brands in Dior's league, they are similar. But given the astounding price Dior is asking for this bag and introduce it like heaven's gift, they are supposed to employ better technique to manufacture than just saying over 1 mil ticks (by machine). I feel for you.
Checked my book tote immediately after this! Fortunately I don’t have any of those glue stains but I do have those brown stains.. super minimal & barely noticeable. Hopefully those other glue stains don’t appear as I’m past the 2 years …

I saw a video from A Heated Mess discussing the same glue discoloration issue with the book tote. I checked my bag and it hasn't happened to me (yet!), but I'm concerned because mine is the light gray and cream oblique, and that discoloration would be very noticeable. Sad that such expensive things can have defects like this. Thanks for the video!

I just bought a Dior bag and the leather where the strap is hanging got damaged after two times of use. (I don’t know if I explain it properly because English is not my first language). Do you know if Dior can fix that? :/ I’m really sad!
It seems like most if not all bags are constructed using some amount of glue to hold things in place. I can see why you can’t just poke random pins into leather but it shouldn’t be a problem in canvas. Maybe there’s something I don’t know 🤷🏻♀️
I uses to own the dior saddle bag in vintage version and it didn't have any of the problems you mentioned. It does look more tired after a few years of usage but I feel that was ok.
All these companies must use the same kind of glue! My YSL Rive Gauche! The glue has turned orangey brown. On a linen beige color it can be very noticeable! Come on designers you need to do better. I wanted this Dior bag so bad but now I’m definitely having second thoughts. Can’t understand why they hold so much resell value at this point…
That’s so disappointing 😞 Someone had mentioned they used acetone to carefully remove the glue stains from their bag. Maybe you can try that and see if it works?
Hey, I have the same problem with the yellow/orange stains, and I make so good attention that the bag doesn‘t get stains. How did you solve the problem? Are they changing the bag or taking the bag with the defect back and refunding it?
I got a refund for mine but different people have had different results depending on where they bought it from. It doesn’t seem like there’s a consistent response from Dior addressing this issue.
Hello @melissaroller4451, I just discovered the oxidized glue on my bag 2 days ago, and I thought it was a stain so went to a Dior boutique and just hoping that they would recommend something for the stain eraser but to my surprised, he said that it was a manufacturing defect and it was replaced right away. Thank you for your replies. I brought my book tote today to the store and they had to sent it to the fabric, but they think that Dior will replace it because it‘s impossible to get the stains out and it‘s not my fault. But not sure yet, I have to wait 1-2 months now.
Yeah maybe the glue seeped through the fabric in the other areas. Or maybe they applied it sloppily and some of the glue transferred there and it wasn’t cleaned up.

Hey Carol, Thank you so much for sharing. I am so glad that I watched your video. I sent in my defective oblique tote recently to Dior Boutique and was offered a one to one exchange even though it was purchased in 2019. Very pleased with the way they handled my case.
I haven’t seen anything of the sort on other bags when I was researching this glue issue so hopefully it’s okay. I would be so mad if this happened to my blush mini lady dior too. But I do wonder if the lady d-lite will start showing issues soon - it’s a newer release compared to the book tote so maybe the problems haven’t shown up yet (although the other canvas bags like the saddle and 30 montaigne seem to be okay).
I don't see a problem with it, it gives artisanal vibe and the bag is still beautiful, expensive and not easy to make. The pattern is very expensive still tho.

They are made for people who can AFFORD to get a new one without wearing one out. They are held together by pieces of string and glue like wtf do y’all expect ? There is no WHITE, OFF WHITE, CREAM WHITE or any other white FABRIC handbag on the market you can buy anywhere in this world that will eventually yellow, just like there's no peice of fabric clothing that will not eventually yellow. I guarantee you! That's why I do not own very many white colored items.

It’s still too early to tell if the bags from 2023 will have this issue but I hope they really did fix whatever was wrong with it.
It’s not comfortable to carry either! And the handles stitching starts to rub your clothing.

I still feel like 2 years is way too short of a time to be noticing this. Maybe if it was 10 years later I would feel differently.

You should definitely bring it back to the boutique. A bag from Dior shouldn’t show damage after just two uses.
