    Thank you for all the information, and how to check out how she’s doing during her workouts. I love Aristeia 🥰

    Hi Jay. Another great look at inside racing! Clocker says she finished her workout 7 out of 47. That is at a heartrate of 207 max. You've got our filly in great shape! Love feeling like we are standing right there on the backstretch with you. Appreciate all you do to make our experience feel real time and in person. Totally enjoying our racing club experience!!!

      That's good to hear. We are trying to make the racing club a truly virtual experience for you members and Cynci is doing a great job of catching the day's activity (except for losing Ari on the track LOL). We have someone lined up to video on race day so Cynci and I are free to get things done withpout stopping the flow of the video. Let us know if you want us to focus on anything we may have left out.

    Making my Breeders Cup Classic prediction. I have been looking over Breeders Cup Classic entries past performances in The Blood Horse. My heart goes with Maximum Security. Maximum Security is the class of the race, having won 12 million dollars lifetime. Max also has the best speed ratings and such a huge heart this little horse has!! Also, Maximum Security is coming off a bullet workout!! I hope he has a really good trip! However, Barclay Tagg really has Tiz the Law cranked up and read for this challenge, and I think he could possibly pull it off. Tiz the Law has the fastest time at 1 1/4 mile (2.00), coming off the Travers Stakes in Saratoga. Tiz the Law demonstrated this is not a fluke by turning in a like performance in the Kentucky Derby. Improbable has formidable speed ratings as well. All 3 are really nice horses. My heart goes with Maximum Security. Wishing all horses and riders a safe trip. Go Max, goooooo!!!!!!!!!

    Thanks for the updates, I look forward to them. It did worry me a bit to see her work without any polos, was there a reason for that? As a former trainer I was holding my breath hoping she didn't catch herself anywhere! 🙂

      what is a "polo"...for those of us who are novices...

    • @sandratrude8058
      @sandratrude8058 4 роки тому +2

      @@mariedenoyer2173 A polo is a soft leg bandage that protects the horse's leg from below the knee to the bottom of the flock (ankle). She has white ones on the front in her previous breeze down the lane if you want to see what they look like.

      Auto correct doesn't know what a fet lock is...not flock!

    • @JayCNehfracing
      @JayCNehfracing  4 роки тому

      Hi Sandra, sorry it took so long to reply. Santa Anita does not allow horses to breeze with polo bandages. you have to use elastic or self-adhesive bandages. Ari doesn't need those. We gallop and jog in fleece polos just for a little extra protection, but it's not essential for her.

    Jay, she is looking more relaxed and confident. What is the ruffled hair on her right rump as she turns around towards the end. Thanks Jay, can’t believe that this is the he first time I noticed it. Horse licks instead of cow licks🤩🤩

    • @JayCNehfracing
      @JayCNehfracing  4 роки тому +1

      LOL I have no idea where that came from. She came in from the farm with that. It's just the way the hair lays, no injury or scar or fungal infection. I'm trying to get used to it.

    • @JayCNehfracing
      @JayCNehfracing  4 роки тому

      LOL they are still available and you are welcome to buy more. I'm very pleased with Aristeia's progress. Cynci and I decided to offer Aristeia rather than Sonnet because she is a year younger and will probably be a better runner. That said, there is never a guarantee of success, so use your good judgement.

    Jay can you explain how a clocker can Identify a horse and when he or she should start the clock ?

    • @JayCNehfracing
      @JayCNehfracing  4 роки тому +1

      Frankly, no! I don't know how they do it. When the track opens after the break, it is a cavalry charge. There are sevral clockers up there and we give the names and distances to a person at trackside who relays it to the clockers. They somehow get 'em all but it must be a heck of a challenge. I'll try to get video up there with the clockers.

    What does the heart rate tell you?

  • @mariedenoyer2173
    @mariedenoyer2173 4 роки тому

    You say further down in one of your comments that you think she can go a mile, or even further. What makes you think that? How does one come to consider longer distances?

    • @JayCNehfracing
      @JayCNehfracing  4 роки тому

      In general, a short stocky muscular = sprinter; long and lean = route horse. But Ari does not ease herself up after a mile gallop. She'll keep cruising for another 3/4 mile just because she wants to. Felipe, her rider, has learned not to fight her or try to force her so he lets her go on till she's ready to ease up. So this is another indication to me that she will like her races at mile or more. There a few mile and a half races that could be very interesting...

  • @forgetmenot3120

    Great video! Even though she’s still early in her training getting back, what distance do you think will best suit her?

    • @JayCNehfracing
      @JayCNehfracing  4 роки тому +1

      This filly never seems to get tired so I'm sure she'll go a mile or more. They write some 1 1/2 mile races at SA and I'd love to try her in one.

    Also, they are giving Tiz the Law, a 4 pound handicap over Max and Improbable.

    • @JayCNehfracing
      @JayCNehfracing  4 роки тому

      Here's an interesting fact: all of the three year olds in this race get a 4 pound weight allowance; they carry 122 rather than the 126 older horses must carry. However, in the Kentucky Derby, for three year olds only, all the horses carry the 126 that is assigned to the older horses in the Classic. Go figure

    Just in this video, I see a lot of horses and riders wearing some kind of red, so it would be easy to lose a particular horse they the lense of the camcorder. I really appreciate the introduction to the heat rate monitor. Aristeia seems very calm. Easy she an easy keeper?

    • @JayCNehfracing

      She's a big eater. I'm happy when they eat 1% of their body weight in hgrain per day. Ari eats 1.2%

    She's turning into such a lovely lady. I'm intrigued by her unusual heartbeat rhythm--is that something that could be indicative of a problem or defect, or is it a known, if uncommon, variation?

    • @JayCNehfracing
      @JayCNehfracing  4 роки тому +1

      Not a problem but something we are very aware of. Most trainers do not use a monitor and would never be aware of this. Racehorses' heart stats change as they get older, for example maximum heart rate. That is something they are born with, you can't increase it throguh exercise, but it decreases as they get older. Heart murmur is also common in horses but most are not a problem, just noise. Aristeia does not have a murmur. Her heart is normal but tricky to feel when she's agitated after a work so I rely on the monitor.
