Thank you Dr Freilich, a really good thorough explanation. Was advised yesterday I likely have TTS, the neurologist explained it but seeking more information about it to understand the testing and options for treatment. The symptoms I can relate to, also tripping over the foot, have had many falls 😬 I am glad it’s treatable 🙂
Thank you Dr Freilich, this was so well explained, I have been waiting over 3 years to see a specialist about my feet that has most of these symptoms that you have been talking about, it is extremely hard to live with especially at night. Blessings to you. Shalom Aleichem.
BS"D Shalom - I have had pre diabetes and was diagnosed with slight neuropathy at age 49 so i started to run and get in shape. I got my A1C down to 4.3 and was no longer pre diabetic. I started to get electric pains on bottom of both feet but more on my my right foot. I had to strop running. I saw a neurologist and said my pain was not from neuropathy because it was only when i put pressure on it like walking and running. Not at night when sleeping. The neurologist sent me to see a orthopecic foot specialist who took X rays and he agreed that pain was not from neuropathy but rather metetarsalgia. He suggested I get orthototics which i did but pain still persists when I stand, walk or run especially on bottom of my feet when barefoot. Its an electric feeling. Also when I twist my ankel I get this electric feeling. When I move my toes there is a creaky grinding feeling that inhibits movement of the toes. Could I have TTS in both feet. How do you cure this?
I have bilateral tarsal tunnel ans small fiber Neuropathy diagnosis I am not diabetic or pre-diabetic anymore. Does the TT nerve reduction surgery work? That's what my orthopedic is saying next step is. PT does not last long, drugs either. Help.. should I do surgery??
I found this video very helpful. Recently I had been dealing with shin splints and had been focusing on Calf and soleus stretches as well as massage of the post tib tendon. One day I had a sharp shooting pain (I assume along the tibial nerve) and had swelling in my ankle and couldn't use it. The podiatrist thought I had a partial tear is my post tib tendon but the mri showed nothing but some fluid in the ankle. After about 2 weeks of immobilization I was able to walk again fairly normally. Yesterday I went back to doing stretches as I was feeling good and it happened again and I'm back to immobilization. Can frequently stretching irritate the nerve or compress the tarsal tunnel? I have an appointment with a podiatrist this week but would like to know your thoughts. I'm scared of it happening again.
Hi Brandon, if the tendon's are fragile from whatever reason, then they will become increasingly irritable and painful with repeated stretches, but in terms of Tarsal Tunnel / Distal Tibial Nerve dysfunction per se, I don't think so. Bw Simon
Hi Doctor, I am hoping you're still answering. I have a question that isn't addressed here - So I've been using use a handheld massager on the bottom of my feet for two years which helps for about 15 minutes. I do it 20 times a day. But lately Ive used it on my ankles and when I push it into the right spot, it seems to restore the feeling in my feet! Is this possibly a sign of TTS or can this happen without having TTS? Many thanks for your time!
Hi, I don't think it is a sign of TTS. I'm not sure what to say about your symptoms but you must be in a lot of discomfort to be doing all of that. Suggest you see a foot doctor as that's not sustainable. Bw Simon
@@DrSimonFreilich Thanks for your prompt response! Yes I'm fairly miserable. Am having an MRI w/contrast of lumbar/sacral and piriformis area in buttocks in a few weeks. After I posted my question to you here, I did read that massaging my ankles like that would make my feet worse and not better, if it was TTS. Let me know if you have any thoughts on that. Will take your advice and see a foot doctor also. Many thanks! Barry
Hello doctor. I suffer from plantar fasciitis. Can she produce the same symptoms alone without me having the injury myself? I would be very happy to receive an answer. Greetings from Germany, Thomas.
@@DrSimonFreilich Hello Doc. Thank you for the quick reply. I'm reassured that I don't have to have something like that. The more videos I watch about such symptoms, the more diseases I have. Should I let it be. Have a nice day. Regards, Thomas.
Dr Freilich, could I possibly ask for some advice please. My wife has developed tingling in her right foot starting at the center of the pad underneath and stretching up to the back of the knee. My wife has carpal tunnel syndrome and is under investigation after tearing the rotation cuff, this came about after a fall down a flight of stairs. Our GP surgery is closed due to the pandemic, so I apoligise for coming forward like this.
Hi Aaron, tbh usually these types of symptoms tend to be due to either wear and tear in the foot or sometimes relates to the lower back. Either way, if that's all it is, it should be able to wait for a bit, until this nightmare is over. Bw Simon

Very informative. Thank you
felt numbness in my heel and was going to write it off until this video where I checked pretty much every box...
Very useful. Thank you!

they should send you do an MRI
@boazorr did you find out? I have Morton’s Neuromas which give those sharp electric shocks on the bottom of my feet.

The intro music and text graphic was definitely chosen by a neurophysiologist! :P Been loving the videos doc!
Even worse, I 'composed' it ;)
This is a painful condition, especially at night. As for the possibility of surgery, who would be a better choice, Ortho, Neuro, or Podiatry?
Usually orthopaedic foot specialist. Only see someone with significant experience and interest. Bw Simon
@@DrSimonFreilich Thank you.
It is painful, drives me nuts at night 😬
Good work Doc !
great video sir

@@DrSimonFreilich Thank you so much for your reply Dr Freilich. I will wait until this pandemic is over and make another appointment with our GP.
Second patient today is a TT decompression 😀
Enjoy!
wonderful
Can this occur in both feet? When I’m on my feet all day the pain gets worse and my feet get red. I noticed when I’m laying down my pain goes away.
Yes, but TT doesn't cause red feet. So you'll need to see your doctor. Bw Simon
