Actually, I heard that, in Japan at least, Mameshiba was the favorite for the drama among viewers. WOOT! Sato Takeru!! I have the drama, but still haven't watched. >x< This motivated me to start, though. Again--WOOT! TAKERU!!
this drama was a trainwreck, but i remember watching it purely for the mizushima hiro factor. coloring and timing is the biggest bitch ever. great job though.
I love the main couple of this drama. Though I don't get why its forbidden for ladies to fall in love with there butler when half of them are. And it was bound to happen too😏
I think it is due to the scandals of the past and the rules of the society they are a part of. A lady who is to be the head of a prominent family would be expected to be a pillar within the community. She would be expected to be intelligent and have gracious social skills (which would include knowing when to keep your mouth shut and when/how to lie), have proper escorts that were unquestionable when they were with her, she would be expected to possibly marry whomever her family chose for her and thus a butler would not be an ideal suitor, she needs to be able to have a person she trusts implicitly; that will not betray her and that will protect her like it is his own life. They know the butlers and the ladies will grow attached to each other over time, but if they can't control themselves when being under constant scrutiny then they will be failures unable to do the job the family has in store for them (even if it is for marriage in an alliance between companies) and the families will hold the schools accountable; thus the number one rule is that love is forbidden. Butlers are also taught very stringently, but they are given the freedom to choose who they will serve... as a loyal butler will protect his lady no matter what. If a butler fails, no one will take him in and all his work is wasted. Rihito had to leave Shiori because she changed in ways he couldn't accept (so he couldn't love/adore her the way a ladies butler should) and so he kept his mouth shut about her and stepped back so that he wouldn't betray her and a new butler could come forward. (he knew others liked her and would step in to his place, I'm sure of it.) I believe this is also why both the school and the grandfather allowed him to take on a new lady and continue his position within the family. Anyway, I hope that this helped your understanding and if not, please forgive my rambling.
the one thing i never understood in this drama is how the butler's outfit is always tidy and everything he does is perfect and neat EXPECT FOR HIS HAIR; it is a HOT MESS. i just don't understand...
I kinda want to see how excellent butler mame will become and will he be able to fight for mei again and in the end, he said that "my feelings will not change but mei, your feelings might change when I return back"
i hate it, just frigging hate what they do with the actors' hair. i cant stand looking at it. such bishies, why ruin it with hair that bounces in all directions?? man!! i want to cry!!
