- Top 50 of rises / improvements in betting odds compared to the official results in Eurovision Grand Finals 2011-2021. Odds were taken during the live shows before the voting.
IMPORTANT: The betting odds placings are based on the outright market. If a country is placed 10th it doesn't mean the exact predicted place is 10th but otherwise it's not possible to create a video like this. But the difference between 26 and 13 is zero. Both >1%. So wouldn’t it be better to do a % ranking difference? So the 2% that got third gets the 12% that the third got - 2% is 10 points.

@Alex Erhan This years song ended way too high. In my opinion it didn’t even deserve to qualify. The only song I liked from Moldova was from 2017 and 2018.

@Rebecca Woolf not exactly, I think he meant Donny Montel ending exactly 10 places above expectations twice(!), so based on that if they send him 3rd time and he will be 11th on odds he will actually end up 11-10= in the first place winning the contest

I do believe that it’s more accurate to talk about flops than rises, since odds are based on who people predict will win. And I understand why most people didn’t predict that these would win, mostly because a lot of these were “safe” and “basic”, although good. I’m aware you made a video about flops and what you mentioned in the pinned comment, this isn’t against the video or anything, I just wanted to give that piece of mind!
Indeed, in this ranking it's even more difficult. Albania and Serbia are good examples. In some cases placed 26th to win but in a betting market who's finishing last they won't be the favourite because diaspora votes save them no matter what song it is.

You are correct, only the winners of each year are relevant in this comparison, because they are winning odds. The biggest riser is the winner whose betting position was the worst.

I still think that it was one of the only good entries that year.
I'm happy "Proud" beat the odds. It was my winner in 2019.

@@animeandgamealex3331 no 24 bc there were 25 participants, and if you got the maximum possible difference, which would be being 25 in odds and ending up first or the other way around then the difference would be 25-1=24 or 1-(-25)=24
So yeah Italy was 4 away of having the biggest possible difference :D

Kirkorov songs aren’t UNDERRATED by the bookies. They know that they aren’t good but for SOME reason they always end high in the grand final itself. we all know what’s going on.
It’s so obvious that Kirkorov is “acquaintances” with juries of several countries.
