I enjoy buying older HG kits to paint and customize so I love the fact you spend time talking about seam lines and plastic types. I also really appreciate the systematic way you describe the articulation.
Thank you! The older HGUC kits are really nice for customizing especially for all their clean surfaces. The simple construction is really great too for modifications. Also, glad to see the extra material information is useful:)
100% this! Between closing seam lines, painting, waterslides, scribing, weathering, etched parts, or just plain digging pieces out of the spares n kitbash box and get into some crazy redesigning, you can do a LOT of cool things with old HG's. Digging out my old kits from the early 00's and remixing them into a '"Roll your own Real Grade" has become one of my most favorite ways to combat the existential anxiety of the 2020's
Although the joints are way too loose, I still really love my Char's Z'Gok. It was how I got into gundam in the first place and was a really simple kit for me to start with.
I Extremely *LOVE* the 1/144 Universal century Gundam line, the instructions are actually more eye catching than the newer ones Plus i like the more basic looks for the Mobile suit Gundam 1979 / the Original series models
I think the original series had bold and unusual designs that Sunrise / Bandai won't ever dare do nowadays because they'd be too worried mainstream fans won't buy their products -- but the strange looks are exactly what makes those oldest MSes so charming
theres something to be said about "basic" designs though, the new mobile suits are so overdesigned I am surprised they can move without snapping off a million little spikey bits.
used to build one from 90's days. i put it in my bro's fish tank to see if z gok really suits the water scene look. resulting the water were all inside body and needed days to get dry ... good old days. the rests were destroy by a hot solder which was a tool in my general mechanic subject when i was in grade 7
After watching your review, I went on to buy and built the Char's Z'Gok, its quite interesting to build a different type of MS and fun to play too! But I really feel that it looks like a mech bunny with the white "bunny teeth" in the center :D
That white cockpit really does stand out quite a bit, there's even an SD drawing that really uses that as a buck-tooth, so you're definitely not alone in seeing it Hope your kit's joints will stay healthy:)
Just ordered the standard kit tonight. Figured for $15 it wasn't a bad deal and even with the flaws it'll look nice on a shelf. Especially if I do some panel lining on it.
it is nice that u address in details the flaws in bandai model kits. also that you summarize it at the end. anyway, perhaps in the future you could make a video of list of hg that are undergated, no vfin gundams (Ex. Ez8, Blue destiny 1)
i absolutely love all of the early OYW zeon mobile suit designs, i sure hope that some of these older kits get revives sooner rather than later, as some imo are in dire need of em
@@HobbyClubhouse i agree, the z'gok is such a lovely design and it's a shame that you run the risk of some parts crumbling to dust eventually, there's always the real grade kit but i like the anime accuracy of the high grade
The RG Z'Gok isn't bad, it certainly looks nice, though the arm and leg segment joints will get a bit loose. The parts on it doesn't fall off much except for the pieces on the toes (which is quite good for RGs) The HG doesn't pose super well and it might have that joint-breaking problem in the video, but it's pretty cheap and you can get a blue one more easily, so quite low risk overall if you can accept those two problems
This kit has it's issues due to it's age, but the price of this kit is hard to ignore. I got this kit for just 10€ in my local hobby shop, so I can overlook some of the issues for such a cheap kit.
Excellent review, it's a shame about the ABS issues. I like the look of the kit but after seeing this I think I'd go with the RG. Great job with a balanced take once agaib!
Love this kit I got a vintage char one for 20 and it happily sits behind my hg revive char zaku it is happily holding up a little red plastic beach shovel that is the size of a hg zaku rifle still need to get the rest of the aquatic suits the hg zgok e and zock are hard to get aswell as the agg and agguguy
this is one of those kits that are great for glue in place type of thing for making a diorama and you don't need it to move after the first pose. I'm in the process of building a combat scene diorama.
Try using Liquid Mask Sol on the ball joints - that should fix them up. I think that the RG looks a bit too busy with those armour cut-outs and loses with the gaps in the links in the arms.
Just got a char z’gok but ima paint in like a miniature I haven’t touch gunpla in a few years so this is gonna be fun I just finished building it but didn’t glue much together so I can paint each part individually….
mmmmm. that's really disappointing. i really like the aquatic Zeon MS, and i was trying to figure out which version to get. i wanted to paint it in green or brown like the one i use in GBO2... but not if it's gonna be breaking and failing to hold poses. i guess i'll go for the RG instead. plus the RG has a moving eye, which i kinda need for any Zeon kit i buy.
I can never unsee the ZGok as anything other than as a cute mech wanting to give me a hug 😅
It hugs so hard its ball joint sockets split open

Same here. Ive just bought my first 2 kits. Haroholder and purple Z' gok.

one of the more realistic mobile suit that I can see be manufactured irl and actually work
I liked this way to go directly to the all information quickly and clearly,
Glad you enjoyed the video!
@@HobbyClubhouse I'm fan of all Ms from OYW and if you make more videos of that Ms I'll be here

Bought Char's Z'Gok and it's a cool model kit for an affordable price, I wish Bandai could release the thunderbolt version of this model and the gogg
Thank you for comparing the two Goks together!

You know, I've never taken a tally of Gundams without V-fins. Now that I think of it, you may have already named most of them already...
I love how as I was watching this, my Char Z'Gok's shoulder broke. I'm using the same fix you recommended here
i absolutely love all of the early OYW zeon mobile suit designs, i sure hope that some of these older kits get revives sooner rather than later, as some imo are in dire need of em
Especially these Z'Goks, the ABS parts really need to be changed out before they shatter and disappoint more people

Z Gok brings the cuteness in Gundam Universe. 😁
So if I want Char's ZGok should I get the old HG or should I get the BF one?
thanks for the review. i saw on for a cheap price and i am glad you told me about the loose joints.
What glue should I use if the joints break, do I use tamiya glue or?
Tamiya glue, tamiya cement or glue for plastic
I wanted a Zgok but idk which one to get, is the RG good? I don’t know if it’s too loose or has a problems because it is a old kit.

I'd love to review the entire Zeon Swim Team eventually too, especially the Zock - I love that green chicken so much
@@HobbyClubhouse if it wasn’t sold out everywhere except amazon I would have got a zock but its $120 on amazon
Lol in poland they are for around 10-40 dollars for hg and mg. Check some shops there probably u can agree some abroad shipping. They are nice ppl

Going to pick one up and turn it into a Big Daddy from Bioshock🤔
Silly little adorable splashy machine, and dirt cheap. Good kit.
Imma paint this to the unicorn version that we saw in the attacking torrington scene
Everyone immediately recognizes the olive-green Z'Gok when they see it
I got a zgok the red version and after a day it broke immediately so now I don't trust any zgok gunplay
You should buy another one and paint it like the Unicorn version.
Great vid, but Z'Gok is pronounced Zgok as one word not ZeeGok, thought you might wanna know
Oi bandai, revive this kit now
Much appreciated review man 👌
Holy cow you're quick! Thanks for your support:)
