    Wow this tent looks so cool. The lines on it are so funky. Someday I will have a Tarptent, because they make great tents.

    That's a reasonable price. I dig the Tarptent strut designs in their tents. Great video 👍

    That's a great looking tent at a great price. I'd love to see a 1 person version or maybe a 1.5 person purely due to the pitch size.

      Having been a Tarptent fan and customer for several years now, I can almost guarantee you’re going to see a 1 person version of this.

      @@BackcountryExposure on another note, have you ever looked or had a Robens tent. I have the Robens Sprinter 2 which has 4 season strength but a full mesh inner. It has some great features which I know you like innovative little features.
      I'm not sure if you can buy Robens tents in the US

    Now having watched, I love my Double Rainbow DW, but a single person version of this tent with this material, I'd be interested in that. I really like the ventilation options, and I'm always partial to vents that can expand your view. Look forward to a future review.

    Thx for another demo of TT! This may be the solution for me. The beautiful Dipole 2DW didn’t have enough headroom for me and my 6’3” hubby. Thx!!

    LOVE TT innovation! The ventilation in this dreamboat seems top notch! The pull up points in the corners and top zipper vents are great touches! Like you said, attention to detail is what makes them one of my all time favs. Sadly, I may never own one of their products (a-la Zenbivy) but great price point as well. I don't care for the offset pole design in any tent, although the strut corners make it more livable. It also seems like the doors are not in the center, making it easier to get to and unzip in the morning. I love how the material goes all the way super close to the ground for 'storm mode'. However, do you know how tall the bathtub is? Looks super low. Pockets up high are also a nice touch! 20D Poly also a must for a single wall shelter (if not going dcf). I think at this price point for a true 2p tent it should sell at the weight. Nice first look Devin! 1000k pages of product notes now finished.

    Now we just wait for a 1p ArcDome Ultra (with a width of hopefully at least 35 inches). By the way, it's about time somebody made a Hilleberg Unna style tent but with an inner shaped like the Durston X-Dome. Bombproof, sub 3 lbs, and a vestibule.

    I like these new 1 man tents that are more like 1.5s...It gives me a bit of extra room most of the time solo, but I can fit someone else in there if I need to. Some of these 2s are more like 2.5s as well.

    If you are inside and you want to add ventilation, you have to get out and do it from outside... Or it starts raining and you want to close it... If it could be done from inside would be great. (Just a thing I would like to see)

      I should have made it a point to observe that detail. I believe the doors zipper opens deep enough on those sides that you ought to be able to reach around, but it’d be tricky to clip and un clip mitten hooks and such with one hand.
      As I get more use with it, I’ll focus on that detail. At least from the position of lowering it should it start to rain.

    • @tarptent
      @tarptent 9 годин тому +1

      Yes, it's possible to reach out from the end of the interior door zipper and raise/lower the end vent flap.

    Thanks for the video, I saw the Meso on Tarptent's site a few days ago. How do you like it, compared to the Dipole 2 DW, with only about a 3 ounce weight difference?

    • @BackcountryExposure
      @BackcountryExposure  10 годин тому +1

      I think the biggest difference is single wall vs double wall for the Dipole 2 being a DW. You’ll maybe get a little more floor space with the 62” floor width at the head and foot of the Dipole, but lose a little bit of space side to side. But I also have not used or seen the Dipole 2 DW myself. That’s just my thinking based off having used the Dipole 1 DW and specs on the site.

    • @martindonaldson5433
      @martindonaldson5433 10 годин тому

      @BackcountryExposure thanks! I didn't realize you hadn't used the Dipole. You have so many Tarptent videos, haha! I lean towards the Dipole, I'm tall, and like having the full mesh wall at the head and foot. But a DCF Mesospire would be very compelling too. I'm sure that will come eventually. Cheers!

    • @arkansasalex7288
      @arkansasalex7288 8 годин тому +1

      I wonder what the weight would be if they come out with a dcf version? 40oz seems heavy for a trekking pole tent doesn't it? Or am I tripping?
      I've always been a non trekking pole tent user, but am looking for just the right trekking pole tent to buy

      @martindonaldson5433 7 годин тому

      @@arkansasalex7288 40 oz isn't bad, for silpoly 2P with that much floor space.The Duration Mid 2 is 39 oz. I'd guess the DCF version would be around 32 oz, similar to the Stratospire 2 Li.

    Gotta give credit where it’s due-Dan Durston is out here redefining tent design. The dude lit a fire under the whole industry, and now everyone’s pushing boundaries. I’ll never own this one, but watching the evolution of freestanding vs. non-freestanding shelters is wild. Love seeing the synergy at play! 🔥 Appreciate the breakdown, Devin!

      I think it’s great to have brands driving good competition. So many moving parts with tent design and considerations at play. Like did you ever expect to see 52”+ width floors on a 2 person tent? But 25” wide pads becoming the standard size, it’s pushed tent designers to adapt to changes. I like it!

    • @wolfeadventures
      @wolfeadventures 9 годин тому +3

    • @tarptent
      @tarptent 9 годин тому +5

      @dmn3773 The MesoSpire is a single wall version (with single vertical end struts instead of dual "V" struts) of the StratoSpire design which we invented and patented in 2011, long before Durston was a company.
