1- I would finish the pavers, then remove the mulch and add the same gravel you’re putting on the other side to keep things visually consistent. 2- Seeing the support for Kayla’s new business is soooo awesome!
Okay, so first off, I’m OBSESSED with those white rocks! Next thing, omg boo!!You are the absolute sweetest!! Thank you sooooo very much for your order and shouting out Sweet Masonry! 👻🥹 I’m so glad you love your pieces!!!
I just love your yard, home & especially u. U r like this generation's 😎 Oprah! Just go with your gut...... it hasn't failed u yet! Keep being the awesome woman u r. I LOVE ❤ how strong and cooool black women r. U set a great example of not letting anything hold u back . Love from Vancouver
I have fallen in love with your videos. It's 3 am and I am binge watching. Love love love them. Im closing escrow in Feb and you've given me so much motivation. Do you ever share links of your products or furniture?
You can always use vinegar and salt and a little Dawn dish detergent to kill weeds permanently. If you decide to grow in that area again, you will need to turn over the dirt.
There's a product called Mulch Glue that does exactly what it says. If you spray it on the edges of the pavers and patio, it will keep the mulch in place. Can also be used on pea gravel too.
Hi Shaunda You are right the mulch will be untidy but your pavement look great but if you want your area to stay clean add gravel instead of the mulch around the pavements and yes you need a few more pavements and they can be separated with more distance putting the rocks between them , But Shaunda the smaller the gravel the more cleaning up you'd end up doing they move around like mulch and with bigger rocks they stay in place, easier to clean the bed with the blower it's going to be a beautiful at completion just follow your dream God help those who help themselves. TYFS be safe !!!
The larger gravel look nice I think you will like it better than the smaller sized. I like the square pavers on the side. Definitely add a few more to complete the look. If you keep the mulch use the black rubber kind it will be less messy ooooor comple both sides with the same gravel to balance the look. Your backyard transformation is going great. It’s rained here everyday last week. I was so happy to see some sun on Saturday.
I would take up the mulch and add gravel. The mulch will eventually wash away. You could even add 3 or 4 low maintenance shrubs(evergreen) in that area to prevent access but keep it aesthetically pleasing. Use the pavers with the gravel on the other side since it's an area where people will be walking a sitting.
girl, I was so scared for you when I saw those little lizards crawling up the wall on your back patio! Love the support for Sweet Masonry and I am jealous because I didn't get the ghost candleholders... anyway, love what you are doing! but I also know mulch can attract mosquitoes, so you might want to replace that with some of the gravel you plan to get. I love the pavers. maybe get a few more and space then further apart so you don't have to buy so many more. either way, it is shaping up! Happy to see it!
I’d put rocks along that corner. Roll up the mulch (save it for when you refresh your front) put the pavers in the grass leading toward the fence that lines the backend of your yard. In the future plant something along that back fence line
There is a glue called Gravel-loc, you spray it on your gravel and it glues it down. So you baby rocks might work if you use that! I'm also thinking you can use the glue on mulch too!
I love the pavers. I think you should continue it all the way to the back by spreading the pavers farther apart or getting more pavers. I know those pavers were heavy. You lifted them like paper.
If you continue the pavers, make sure to get a handtruck if you don't have one! That has saved my back and arms by just having to wheeling the heavy stuff from my car to location. Sometimes, I'll just wheel stuff from my car for returns instead of hustling them into a cart!
Enjoyed the video & yes to continue the pavers (area for large outdoor container plants) or water feature. The mulch will settle and I would add med/large decorative stones along side patio to keep mulch at bay also this would help keep landscape paper down with pavers edgers. You are getting it done, and yes to large pavers in the sitting area with smooth rocks between pavers to give a rock garden vibe with bar and grill. You got this!!!
Who knew learning about gravel would be so interesting 🤔The shells are a no for me too. Frogs make me scream too sis 😩😭I would finish the pavers for a complete aesthetic look but do you boo. Bloom is beautiful 😍I love that you support Kayla! She is the sweetest 😌Grey gravel 🙌🏽Thanks for sharing the update, Shanda! P.S. I really hate how lizards be acting like they're paying rent the way they chill as and when and where they like 🙄😩
I jump the same way when doing stuff 😂 I only use rocks and rubber mulch to reduce dealing with pests. They’ll still come around but won’t have anything to eat so you’ll see less of them. I would consider using rubber though on top of what you have and you’ll love that better or like some others have said use the rocks. You’ve done a great job with everything 😊❤️
I love watching your video. Been a fan for a long time now. I am always with you 100% on the time. I only have one critique. Put some large stones to lift up the pergola. It messes with my OCD, (which I don't have have but just saying) for it to be lower than the patio. Otherwise I love everything you do. You might be able to find the large stone pedestals at the same rock place. Keep up the great work!
I like the gray/white gravel. Yes, I think you should add more 4 more pavers to that right side area. However, it looks like an afterthought if you don't make the area purposeful...unless there is a gate there that I don't see(maybe a plant or herb wall so that it makes sense for a different foundation to be there. Whatever, gravel you use on the left, I think you should use on the right. I don't blame you for being scary.ME TOO!
I am laughing so hard right now. Not because of what you found or did not find, but because this is exactly how I would be. Kicking and shaking things, looking for anything moving so I could run off screaming! LOLOLOL You are better than me because I would have been moving those pillows with a broomstick! God forbid there was a frog in there, I would be done, done!!!!! 🤣
I like the pavers! I think they add a lil something to the other side, but like others said I think it would be good to add gravel. Maybe you can have larger gravel on that side to keep it from blowing away as much?
You and your videos are the bomb! You exemplify a good strong woman, and you're fearless. I thought I was strong but my hats goes off to you!! You go girl!! I salute you!
I luv it the way you have it, and the Rain will settle the mulch and gavel On the larger part where the AC setup is and I like the border trim around the new area your back yard Is large enough to have alot of Multi zones transitioning from One area to the other, look up Backyard transition zones in The backyards or how ever The verbiage list , luv the back Grounded music ur place , It's a vibe.
I would recommend investing in a good dolly/hand truck that call help you with moving heavy stuff for your home. Costco in my area has a really good one that I plan on purchasing. You did a great job looks good I was in Orlando/Cocoa Florida this weekend. The heat was So Disrespectful 🔥 😩 I now know the struggle of working in that Florida heat.
Be careful with that mulch. It attracts termites. Try to invest in rubber mulch. It looks better and less messy but the gravel and the pavers would pop. White gravel with black pavers. I think that would look nice. Ijs ❤
Definitely a no on the mulch near the house because it brings critters from roaches to termites. However if it were away from the home you could always seal the mulch so it stays put. With the stone i would say go up a size from pea gravel. Its less likely to blow around when using a leaf blower which is something really useful to have with gravel. Its easy to blow away misc debris from the gravel to clean it. Especially considering you want the lighter tone stone. If you do prefer the pea gravel size then i would suggest you look into sealing it. That would eliminate the kick up, it getting in the bottom of shoes and also with cleaning using the blower. There are two ways to seal gravel. The less complicated way is spreading the gravel and then sprinkling the sealant on top. The more complicated way would be to mix the gravel with the sealant and then spread in place. I've watch a bunch of videos on it in trying to decide what to do with my yard. BTW, its coming along great!
I agree about the mulch comment, but this is genius idea and a perfect application for my next yard project. Thank you so much for your creative insight.
I'm a bit lost on the gravel sizes. The pea size is much easier to balance on when walking than the larger gray and pink. Although I'm a fan of the dark gray color. Pavers and leveling the ground and gravel is a lot to deal with, but be sure and paint those 2x4s to match whatever you decide.
Hi, I would remove the mulch and lay pea gravel. I used the gray on my walk way and it looks great! Great job by the way, I love watching your videos and getting ideas for my backyard.
I saw this lady use mulch glue to keep her rocks in place by her pavers. It maybe something to look into since you don’t like how the mulch gets everywhere. Hope this helps! Btw hi from Tx! 👋😊
Like the look of the pavers. I was thinking you were getting enough to do the entire strip. If you get tried of the mulch you can always use gravel with them in both areas.
I'm following, because I have been wondering whether or not I want to keep the mulch. In my garden yes, but my front yard, I'm skeptical. The rain washed the mulch into the grass. Kayla, does have some nice pieces. Have a great week
You can do mulch glue so it won’t move too much and I would do plants or something pretty thats low maintenance and doesn’t need a bunch of sun because it’s a shady area
When I first bought my house last year I did the mulch first too .. it was easy and affordable. I’m currently now removing all the mulch and putting in gravel lol 😩😩🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️
Yes, more pavers and change to gravel, although I love the look of the mulch. Does gravel come in black or black sand that will not move. Look so good. 😄
Hello I think the light gray would be nice. I can’t remember what your plans are for that area to say which size but If you will be walking on it a lot I would say smaller stones will be more comfortable to walk on. That pea gravel will kick up and be all over the patio and stuck in your shoes like you said. I have some and it works my nerve.
If there were more pavers right to the end will look great the rocks also will give the porch a good finish along with few plants will be excellent job.
Sis I told you and I’ll keep saying it you are a beast to get it all done lifting those heavy a.. pavers 😄 yess to the gray rocks 💯 So you didn’t want to have concrete poured on both sides to save you all the headache with mulch blowing everywhere… or artificial turf grass
It’s looking so good! If you decide to keep the mulch on that side, get some “Mulch Glue” or “Bark Binder” to help keep the mulch from being as messy 😉
I love the idea of the second sitting area, I extended my patio with a gravel patio next to it then a stepping stone patio next to that and added two more seating areas and decorated and you should have heard the ouuus and owwws. You can put edgers between the patio and the mulch to keep the mulch from the patio like I did or gravel still with edgers, and yes adding 3 more stepping stones to that area will balance it out. Looks good so far.
I am the same way when I am doing yard work Lol!! I get my blower and blow the area first to let the bugs, spiders, lizards etc know to leave the area then I use home defense. I hope this helps. 😊
I would finished up with the pavers and have rocks instead of the mulch .. your patio is looking beautiful 😍
Love the pavers on the side. Instead of mulch, you may want to consider black gravel. Add 4 or 5 more pavers back to the fence and you're done.
Awe the shoutout to Kayla was so cute. I just finished watching her video too.
I love that you supported YLB and gave a shoutout. True Black Girl Magic!!!
I have fallen in love with your videos. It's 3 am and I am binge watching. Love love love them. Im closing escrow in Feb and you've given me so much motivation. Do you ever share links of your products or furniture?
Yessss Sweet Masonry is Kayla's biz! Love her channel.
Was going to suggest this. Haven't tried it but I'm getting some because of the same reason.
Can’t front I just keep watching cause you showing me that patience and faith is key
That it is , thanks luv
I absolutely loved the support for Sweet Masonry.
Hi Shaunda
You are right the mulch will be untidy but your pavement look great but if you want your area to stay clean add gravel instead of the mulch around the pavements and yes you need a few more pavements and they can be separated with more distance putting the rocks between them , But Shaunda the smaller the gravel the more cleaning up you'd end up doing they move around like mulch and with bigger rocks they stay in place, easier to clean the bed with the blower it's going to be a beautiful at completion just follow your dream God help those who help themselves. TYFS be safe !!!
Mulch holds onto moisture and attract more bugs! I would remove the mulch and put down gravel/rocks! Loving your backyard series! It looks amazing ❤️
Yes add the pavers it looks very good and I would take them all the way to the end it just enhanced the path
The larger gravel look nice I think you will like it better than the smaller sized. I like the square pavers on the side. Definitely add a few more to complete the look. Yes 🙌🏾 love bloom, very beautiful. Yes put more pavers. You can always put plants on them.

Hello gorgeous!! Yes finish that side with the pavers and everything looks beautiful Indeed👏👏👏👏
The pavers are a nice touch. I would finish it out. Your backyard is coming out nicely.
Yes for sure add four more pavers! Love it
I’d put rocks along that corner. Roll up the mulch (save it for when you refresh your front) put the pavers in the grass leading toward the fence that lines the backend of your yard. In the future plant something along that back fence line
Listennnn, I was right there with you, scared for you clearing out the corner of your backyard 😅!! You’re so brave!!!
I love that you support Kayla!! So sweet 💜
There is a glue called Gravel-loc, you spray it on your gravel and it glues it down. So you baby rocks might work if you use that! I'm also thinking you can use the glue on mulch too!

Girl when you showed me that cigar wrapping I immediately thought of those neighbors that where smoking in your yard when you first moved in.
The gravel "store" was pretty awesome.
Enjoyed the video & yes to continue the pavers (area for large outdoor container plants) or water feature. Right, lol all excited about rocks. You know Im all about support and yes Lizards are disrespectful lol
Love seeing the support to Sweet Masonry! Just love watching your videos!!!! 💕

You could space the 4 pavers out. Can't wait to see the finished product!!
I would remove the mulch add more pavers and place plants on some of the pavers to decorate that side I love your home🙏🏽❤️
I love watching your video. Been a fan for a long time now. I am always with you 100% on the time. I only have one critique. Put some large stones to lift up the pergola. Still following along in the process. I love this journey. You got me locked in
I like the gray/white gravel. Yes, I think you should add more 4 more pavers to that right side area. Whatever, gravel you use on the left, I think you should use on the right. I don't blame you for being scary.ME TOO!
I would finish the pavers like you said for the looks. Love your videos!!!! Backyard is coming together...
I would put the pavers just for the look but if they are very expensive and u don’t want to do more the mulch will do.
Yea Im thinking the same
Add about four more pavers to complete the look. 🥰 I like the bigger gravel the area by the AC units.
Yeah, she don't do bugs or the outside, so you got me beat doing all the work that you're doing.
I am laughing so hard right now. Not because of what you found or did not find, but because this is exactly how I would be. I think the pavers look nice and you should get several more to finish the look. But do whatever you want
I love what you did with the pavers I would finish it.
I luv it the way you have it, and the
Rain will settle the mulch and gavel
On the larger part where the AC setup is and I like the border trim around the new area your back yard

You did a great job looks good I was in Orlando/Cocoa Florida this weekend. The heat was So Disrespectful 🔥 😩 I now know the struggle of working in that Florida heat.
There is some kind of landscape glue for small rocks and mulch... I would give that a try but add more pavers going all the way up
I would add pavers and maybe space them a little further apart and add the gravel/rocks.
You are fantastic!
I like how your patio turned out so far.
Mulch glue works wonders. It’ll keep it from blowing onto your patio. Do two coats
Rubber mulch is another option! I used rocks and that for my flower beds seem like the rocks were making some of my flowers kick the bucket.
Everything is beautiful
I would only mulch the areas that you want to plant in. The gray gravel would be on spot
Be careful with that mulch. It attracts termites. Try to invest in rubber mulch. It looks better and less messy but the gravel and the pavers would pop. White gravel with black pavers. I think that would look nice. Ijs ❤

Yes keep the pavers and add a few more 😊
I agree about the mulch comment, but this is genius idea and a perfect application for my next yard project. Thank you so much for your creative insight.
Love the video, I use a plastic landscape edging roll around my mulch so the wind and or rain doesn't create a mess.
Finish the pavers, looking great
Right when I saw those pumpkins I said those are miss Kaylas company. I wanted the goast lol....good sure finish the pavers
Hi Dear 😊 I was all scared with you no 🐸, bloom looks great,👍 i know the backyard will be great
Hi, I would remove the mulch and lay pea gravel. I used the gray on my walk way and it looks great!
Great job by the way, I love watching your videos and getting ideas for my backyard.
Brave going in that corner. Because that lizard 🦎 would now own that corner. But all is looking absolutely 💯 👌
I saw this lady use mulch glue to keep her rocks in place by her pavers. It maybe something to look into since you don’t like how the mulch gets everywhere. Hope this helps! Btw hi from Tx! 👋😊
Ooh girl I feel you on the frogs!
Like the look of the pavers. I was thinking you were getting enough to do the entire strip. If you get tried of the mulch you can always use gravel with them in both areas.
For the gravel you can use mulch glue and that will hold them in place
The pavers looks nice more of them is needed maybe even a shed for storage or lounge room everything is simply beautiful!🙏🏽😊
I love black mulch, used it for years, until I noticed it attracted all the giant spiders. Up in NY we have Wolf Spider and they are no joke HUGH lol
Love hearing about the plants
I'm following, because I have been wondering whether or not I want to keep the mulch. In my garden yes, but my front yard, I'm skeptical. The rain washed the mulch into the grass. Kayla, does have some nice pieces. Have a great week
You can do mulch glue so it won’t move too much and I would do plants or something pretty thats low maintenance and doesn’t need a bunch of sun because it’s a shady area
Beautiful , you did well! I Love Everything! You are great in all you do!😊
thank you so much luv

Good video! I think the pavers with the pebbles would be easier to maintain…and gives continuity to the opposite side that’s under development 👍🏽
Yes complete the pavers
Hi Ms Bloom and yes more paver’s
More Pavements that looks really nice over there I think it was set it off smile
Hey Girl!
I'm late, but I'm here! Onto the video.
Nice with the paver stone.
I'd suggest more pavers and gravel. Keep it looking uniform and clean. Love Bloom!! Loving the updates!
Love the process and progress…I’d finish the pavers for cohesion purposes
Spray liquid mulch on top of the mulch....it will act as a glue and bond it together so it doesn't move.
It’s looking so good! If you decide to keep the mulch on that side, get some “Mulch Glue” or “Bark Binder” to help keep the mulch from being as messy 😉
I'm glad you researched the Gravel Yards. The darker grey is nice!!
Yessss
Yea i feel like mulch is messy, the grey gravel would be niceeeee
I love the idea of the second sitting area, I extended my patio with a gravel patio next to it then a stepping stone patio next to that and added two more seating areas and decorated and you should have heard the ouuus and owwws.
