Hangyul started his journey as a trainee at MBK Entertainment. He was set to debut in an idol band IM66. The company debuted the sub unit IM first consist of 4 members with a song Sad Story and join KBS idol rebooting project The Unit. He reach the final but didn't make it to the final group. It seems like his company cancel the plan to debut the idol band, and then only he join Produce X 101. He made it to the final group X1 after place 7th, with his young labelmate Dohyon that placed 8th, but unfortunately the group had to disband only after 5 months due to the rigged controversy. Dohyon is the one from Under Nineteen prior to join Produce X 101. After the disbandment, Hangyul and Dohyon continue their journey as a duo H&D before debuted again under their company's new boy group BAE173 in 2020. They not getting the recognition, so Hangyul as a leader, agree to join Peak Time together with his group members as the other members really want to try to boost their career trough Peak Time, although Hangyul already had enough with survival show. The show just aired its final episode last wednesday and they placed 5th. 1st place is Vanner, 2nd MASC, 3rd Team 24 (individuals that came to the show as a solo, combined as a project group Team 24 consist of BAP Jongup, ex-Topdogg Bjoo/Byungjoo, BIG Heedo and ARGON Gon), 4th DKB, 5th BAE173 and 6th MONT. All the six groups will have concerts and domestic tour together while only the no1 winner will have a global tour and will get an album.
Sorry for this lengthy comment since I have known Hangyul for a very long time and he really had a very long journey.

Peak Time is about giving various groups a boost in their careers. Some groups are new but haven't any exposure, some groups are from companies that no longer exist or have been 'disbanded' but still want to showcase their talents. some like Jongup from BAP had come in as solo artists for various reasons and were selected for a project group. It's actually a very supportive and healthy show - while there is some drama, most of the artists really are there supporting each other and helping each other.

PeakTime is a survival show for already debuted groups mostly for not popular groups or groups that have disbanded already. The prize for the winning group is $3 million won, an album, and a showcase. The top 6 groups get a concert tour. This dance performance is for the Round 2 Collab stage. 4 groups make a team. The groups are known on the show by time of the day. The 4 groups in this performance is Team 11:00 Vanner, Team 13:00 BAE173, Team 15:00 BLK, and Team 24:00 made up of soloists and yes Moon Jong Up is part Team 24:00 and formerly in B.A.P.

Oh y'all know Just B? Just B didn't come from a specific survival show but instead had most of their members compete in different shows (two on I-LAND, two on Under Nineteen, and one on The Fan. Only the maknae wasn't on a survival show before debuting).
Hangyul did make it to the final group from Produce X101, but the group disbanded early and he eventually redebuted in BAE173 which competed on the show. I definitely recommend checking out the full show if you have the time!!
