Thanks for the video brother, after replacing plugs and still having a hell of a time starting my 89 force 85hp many people in the force facebook page suggested I replace the diaphragm. Ill use this video as a guide when replace it this week. Thanks.
Great video bro my buddy has this motor on a bass boat and kept getting red gasket maker all in the carbs. Took this pump apart and someone had caked rtv all over it. Needless to say thats where it was coming from. Also he had no inline filter before... but does now!!!
that pump has missing parts you are missing the spring and the plastic cap that goes in the top of the big round part of the pumps aluminum body where the 2 valves are located this can cause your motor not to get the full fuel pressure lading to running lean condition and causing premature failure to the engine
If you need a new fuel pump and not just replace the bladder then all I can say is call around to some Marina's and ask , they should be able to find a replacement.
Yes it's been fine ever since .....I have heard of guys getting an old replacement bladder and it not lasting long but after they got a more exspensive one it was fine , so don't be cheap it won't help .
Never seen one and the runs great to this day , the bladder moves back and forth by getting pumped by the plugs , there is a small hole that is in one of the cups for this

Quick question… did replacing the diaphragm make a difference?
Totally.....ran smooth as silk after .....just make sure your fuel line isn't dry and or cracked , that will also cause a sluggish miss in power
Sorry for calling it a fuel filter a few times ,it's the fuel pump with a screen filter on the front.
What about the other 4 gaskets?

Do you have a part number for the pump itself?
Isnt there supposed to be a spring on the big side of ur pump?
