Riposa in pace Balleka.
Brilliant flying......paragliders but far more exciting! I have been flying paragliders for 17 years but I think its time to take up sail plane flying. That was stunning video.
If I remember well my towing days the glider landing gear is out during the tow to create some drag and thus help to tighten the tow rope. (Gliders are damn slippy compared to a towing aircraft) Notice how he's retracting the landing gear as soon as he releases himself from the tow line.
as a tow pilot' advice: it's also a good practice not to retract it while towing since if something goes wrong (and things always go wrong in the wrong moment....) you need to focus on landing not fiddling with an extra leverage...
Balleka, your videos are simply wonderful, from the feeling that you're flying with, even magnificent, thanks for providing realistic size for me so I'm afcionado by gliders.
This is great stuff! Well done. Was disappointed when it finished. Wanted to see some footage from the cockpit. Great choice of music. Thanks for putting a little lift in my day
Priceless video. Love the paint job on the 20. I thought it was a Discus watching the video. Hope to own one of those someday. Never flow on a ridge. I fly in southern Ontario, all thermals here. Next time I am in the UK I will try to visit your club. One of the best gliding videos on UA-cam. Thanks.
Amazing images and flying skill ;) The sound track 5*... and took me 3 weeks to discover the full set. To spare the same pain to other people Tiësto - In Search of Sunrise 4. It's now officially one of my gliding mood sound tracks.
Fantastically exhilarating video (and I speak as a glider pilot of some 40 years), with a good soundtrack that adds to it. Nice work and safe flying. (Oz pilot, ex UK).
I recognise that landscape!! I frequent Dunkeswell for a different form of airsport ;) That slope gliding close to sidmouth/seaton was absolutely sick mate! respect!
@Balleka I'll bet it was - those low gap crossings in front of Sidmouth beach look incredible I'm surprised you didn't cause an accident ;) I only get that close to the deck on my final approach...
Yeah no problems there were only flying models you guys come first. Were you one of the 3 flying inline flying along the west lomond ridge at one point it was very impressive seeing them being pushed on, looked like you guys were having a good time. Had a look at some of your other videos stunning.
you werent flying the lomond hills around the start of october were yah......I was up west lomond flying model and recognise the mouth on the glider. Nice video!!!
very very nice video. I fly also, but nose to the wind (hanggliding) and I can only dream about the performance of your glider. Anyway, we share the same excitement about flying, for sure, and that is what count. Have more good flights!
Hi Balleka..Thoroughly enjoyed your clip.! Am a Hang Glider pilot in NE Oz..and blessed here with flying all year round. But in winter, the cloudbase is lower and thermals weaker, but on non thermic days head for the ridge soaring sites.! Understood that nose down attitude, staying low powering through the lift! Geez..it looked rough on the way back down wind, and know the need when rain squall on the way! Was disappointed not to have seen your landing! Can you pl name song, wld like to use too.
When I see this Video, I must think of my happy hours at the Cliffs with my Paraglider. Flying so close at the Ridges that I can touch at flying. We had talk from Paraglider to Paraglider an the Modelplanes had flewn around us and maked Looping with us in the Middle. To fy in this laminar Lift is great! From Minute to Minute we fly crazier. And in the end of the Day, we saw a great sunset from above and we know we would remember this Great day many times..
M5 with shark teeth, I might have come across this glider in the French Alps, when was the last time you were flying there? Awesome footage once again! Did you try filming from the cockpit with a camera pointing forward, fixed around one of your shoulders?
Awesome vid and the performance of the glider , although you had a tow down to the coast you managed to get back after flying lower than the cliffs , its nov and the sky is closing in ! was it a slight tail wind that helped and how did u get so much height from the cliff for the return beats me , although iam from a piss poor paragliding glide ratio set those sailplanes rock .
Very cool sequel. Perfect footage for my autumn blues - our season is already finished. Tank you for this marvelous clip. What's the distance between the seaside and your airfield?
I used to fly birds of prey when i was younger and always dreamed of being up there with them ,,, this must be as close as you can get ..... thanks , ive subscribed
+David Caldwell Go do it! I have shared many many thermals with those birds. Interestingly enough its a neat collaboration, they come to you when they see you climbing. Its a humbling experience.
Could you take off from your usual field and safely glide to France and back on a typical summers day, if so at what altitude would you need to be at to start your run to ensure you dont run out of height over the sea as there would be no thermals over the sea?
Well, if the airfield is only 20km far away, they would need to gain about 600 meters. I suppose the track is down wind so this should be enough... I'm I right?
UA-cam just recommended this video: proof that you are not forgotten, you never will be!
Be safe up there, Captain
I keep coming bk to Matt's Channel, still awesome. Still puts a smile on my face.
This will always be my favorite gliding video...... RIP Matt.... may you soar the sky's of heaven forever.
AND IWILL JEFF

RIP Matt - very inspiring video. Blue skies and thermals
Balleka, your videos are simply wonderful, from the feeling that you're flying with, even magnificent, thanks for providing realistic size for me so I'm afcionado by gliders.
My first flight was at 16 on a romanian glider called IS-28-B2 with double seat. The thrill of that days will live forever.
Calin Pop That one as commonly called the Lark..
AWESOME!!!!! That you guys do that type of relying without the safety net of any thrust, is most impressive!
Too cool! I'm a hang glider pilot with a small amount of sailplane experience. This video makes me want to get back into it! Thanks for posting it!
Fantastic pilot, should I could have met him. Made a real difference to making me want to be a pilot.
bloody fantastic ive flown in New Zealand with the Auckland gliding club but this epic!!! love low and fast!!!!
This is great stuff! Well done. Was disappointed when it finished. Wanted to see some footage from the cockpit. Great choice of music. Thanks for putting a little lift in my day
Best gliding video I have seen.... Wish my hang glider had this performance.....awesome!!!

Guns and Paradise m
If I had to choose one pilot/video that inspired me to start my journey of flight... this would be it. Thanks for all the memories. RIP Matt.
What happend to him mate ?
@@taylormade2826 He had an accident on takeoff the winch cable was pulled too quickly and the rope broke. He couldn't pull out of the stall in time.

Love the video and would also love to see a similar run from pilots point of view with the camer mounted over right shoulder. Spectacular!
There aren't many gliding video's this good... thanks I really enjoyed watching it
@Balleka I was surprised to see the wings flex - lumpy much? I'd have thought it'd be a lot smoother.
RIP fellow glider :-(
Who is Matt?
Did he died Flying?
@Balleka I'll bet it was - those low gap crossings in front of Sidmouth beach look incredible I'm surprised you didn't cause an accident ;) I only get that close to the deck on my final approach...

some people are just born to be awesome, and you are lucky to be one of us!
Yeah no problems there were only flying models you guys come first. Were you one of the 3 flying inline flying along the west lomond ridge at one point it was very impressive seeing them being pushed on, looked like you guys were having a good time. Had a look at some of your other videos stunning.

@Balleka Wolud be really interesting though.
putting them on OLC is also an option, visualization is much better on that site.
M5 with shark teeth, I might have come across this glider in the French Alps, when was the last time you were flying there?
Awesome footage once again! Did you try filming from the cockpit with a camera pointing forward, fixed around one of your shoulders?

I used to fly birds of prey when i was younger and always dreamed of being up there with them ,,, this must be as close as you can get ..... thanks , ive subscribed
+David Caldwell Go do it! I have shared many many thermals with those birds. Interestingly enough its a neat collaboration, they come to you when they see you climbing. Its a humbling experience.
Hi Nice Video!! can you tell me what kind of software did you use to make this video? Thanks.. :)
Could you take off from your usual field and safely glide to France and back on a typical summers day, if so at what altitude would you need to be at to start your run to ensure you dont run out of height over the sea as there would be no thermals over the sea?
That was just awesome! ✈ ✈ ✈
How much height at the coast would you have needed to get back to the airfield? Great video!
Why don't you show the landing? :O Thats what i waited for! But really nice flying, hope i one day can fly like that :)
Balleka Ohhhh ok
nice! just nice! how much was the aerotow from your club? love the look of that gap and storming from one side to the next
very nice video! are ou using a GoPro?
in germany we would immediately arrested, if we post videos of some fly bys like you did here. But really nice video^^
Well, if the airfield is only 20km far away, they would need to gain about 600 meters. I suppose the track is down wind so this should be enough... I'm I right?

Where do ou got the layout for the shark nose decal from?
Habe a Nimbus 4 and tlike to maky it on the fuse.
Joe
Wow what a flight!
which camera did you use for this video? a action cam? if yes, which?
think they would take my license away ?if I fly that close in CA? lucky I don't have one!🤗
Did you post the trace (s) on the ladder by any chance? O
Do you have a video of when you got it wrong and crashed into the sea?
So where did you take off from? Nympsfield?
That's a bit woo, that is!
What altitude you had when leaving the coast?
How do you come home? Are there a Wave?
Which GoPro did you use at the moment ?
Which glider is it ?
What song is playing in this vid? Great vid by the way.
Jes - like a waterfall
How do you come home again?
I love the lawlessness,,, in canada u would be shot for making these awesome vids!!!
Nice!
that's flat booking it what do ya think. 160 180mph.
hes dead
o.O crashed into the sea :o?
did i miss something?
Great video but may I ask , are the silly hats compulsory? They seem to be very popular amongst glider pilots
Its to help prevent sunstroke/heat exhaustion. They have to have a small brim in order to prevent obscuring the pilot's view. RIP Matt
what camera is it??
Beautifulllllllll
