Everytime I see this colorway of the 12, the first thing that comes to my mind is the Japanese flag (Hinomaru). Since most of us remember calling them the white/red 12 and it matches the theme of the 12 design. Nickname I'm going by: Japan 12. My favorite colorway of the 12 by far.
I went true to size. Fits just like the 2009.
Far better quality, craftsmanship, and fit than the 2022 playoff 12.
This is just overrall better than the 2009, somethings I did like on the 2009 if we compare how close to the originals. The shape of the mud guard on the toe box doesn't overlap as much on the 2009, the pull tab is similar in size to the OG, and the word Jordan on the heel is closer to the gray used on the originals.
What I like about the 2023 in comparison to the 2009- better materials used such as the leather and puffiness on heel of the ribbing on the stitching, better looking jumpman eyelet not that tacky bling bling on the 2009, size of the mud guard is closer to the originals, consistent on the leather embossed looking basketball print, red on the lizard print is closer to the originals. They even used leather on the tongue.
What they are still lacking is the true red jolly rancher translucent sole having that contrast of reds between the red lizard print jumpman tab and sole on heel, the first eyelet on the toe box needs to be a little further down, the eyelets need to be closer together, the ankle collar shouldn't slant as much, thicker shoe laces, and the metal jumpman eyelets(if not at least get the finish right). Fix where they start the stitching on the toe box for the rays so that way the mud guard does wrap as high. I'm not sure you notice but the white 23 besides the jumpman on the sole toe box is sticking out on the medial side on the 2023 pair, I know on the originals you can't see the white 23 on the sole. A slightly taller tongue as well.
Box are huge for smaller sizes.
It's still a great retro especially in comparison to all the past retro 12. Still room for improvement. I had to double up on them.

The QC on my pie isn’t that great. I went through 3 pairs and already returned 1. I plan to keep the best of the 3, but not sure if I should keep the remaining pair or return it.
