I'm pretty sure it was just a jumbled mess for Henry and Josh when they were pumping out content.
I think it's a testament to the AR platforms adaptability. The simple fact it's a 65 year old design and nothing has been better enough to replace it in service.
Nothing has been cheap enough with the same performance. There are much better guns out there but their prices are higher and they aren't made in the USA which is a major selling point.
@@sionsoschwalts2762 obviously the guns aren't better if something else is still being used, regardless of price. If these so called "better" guns were "better" for the tasks they'd be applied to, price wouldn't be much of an issue.
From what I’ve seen, the Geissele barrels are top shelf. Exceptional accuracy, great gas port sizing and very nice finishes. I’m a big Daniel Defense fan as well. They are actually similar in production. Both are cold hammer forged and chrome plated. Both barrels are lapped before and after chrome plating for excellent accuracy. Both barrels are truly excellent, you will be happy with your URGI or Super Duty regardless of the barrel, whether it be DD or Geissele in-house.
I think the geissele super duty and the URGI are the finest fighting rifles ever produced. I own one and I can’t even build one complete custom that I like better. I love that they aren’t absurdly over priced either. Plenty of good guns out there but it’s rare to find this amount of “magic” in one factory rifle. Trigger, rail, barrel, bcg are second to none imo
Bold claim. I own and love multiple super Duty rifles as well as the URGI near clone. But it’s hard to call it the best fighting rifle ever produced when things like the SR-15 are still out there. Between my Geisseles and my KAC, the KACs tend to edge out the super duty’s when it comes to performance and durability.
I've got to agree. I haven't owned them all, but I've owned most major high end brands, and the Super Duties are the best general purpose ARs I've ever seen. I also like the total package a little better than the URGI, as I like the anti rotation tab in the rail/receiver, and love the REBCG.
Scored the 11.5" URGI from Geissele last year during their black Friday sale for $950. Unbelievable value for the money. Comes with everything, flawlessly machined, and even comes with a super42 braided wire buffer spring and H3 buffer.
I got my 14.5 complete Super Duty upper for like $740 a few years ago on Black Friday lol Granted I had to buy the Super 42/H2 seperately but it was only like $40 as it was black Friday lol

I’ve heard of some socom units allegedly just buying the uppers straight from Geissele. Like Henry kinda mentioned. Also Geissele may just start using their barrels on the ones going to the army.
Same as B5 making the sopmod stocks, and P&S products making RIS/RAS rails, vert grips, rail covers. They also have made waffle stocks, M4,& CAR handguards that are marked 4U485. Even upper receivers have been made by other companies besides Colt, and FN. I have a M4 stamped above the gas tube that with a "1KW91" instead of a C above the forward assist, that was an actual fielded upper. So, yes there are plenty of companies that make many of the parts.
Cleared the course with zilch misses, leads the scoreboard on optic-ready service rifles with the best score on the bonus round, and even stepped out with single taps up to 725... The XM7 is looking to be more and more of a specialized niche platform, while the original M4 will remain to be the mainstay issued platform for the US Army through the URG-I.
I think you're right, and I want to say that up front. But not every shooter is Henry, and the purpose of the 7 looks more like armor pen than anything else.
I've been saying this from the beginning. XM7 in it current configuration will never see mass issue like people think. We are very likely to see a repeat of of the SCAR program where a couple high profile units get them, we see some marketing footage from Big Army and Sig, then they fade away into the darkness only to live on in the civilian market..
@@Weasel6agreed. As a SCAR-H replacement the XM7 is fine, but as an M4 replacement it aint happening. The first unit to get them will immediately hate the inability to provide sustained fire on top of the concussion from the cartridge and barrel length.
@@ALovelyBunchOfDragonballz Not to mention the reduced ammo carrying capacity compared to 5.56 and the 6.8mm likely being proprietary, as the SAW half of the NGSW program seems to be on the verge of being dropped in favor of the Springfield .338 Reaper Machine Gun.
@@Weasel6 In fairness to the SCAR though, it has seen a lot of adoption with other militaries other than the US. And for good reason, as after FN took their time to hash out the kinks in the platform, it became a very compelling system to market to other forces. I don't see that ever happening with the XM7, though. At least, not to the scale the SCAR has enjoyed.
I wouldn't expect anything less from the best most long lived rifle system ever invented. The B52 has another 30 years of projected DOD operational life; i suspect so does the AR platform.
An interesting fact about Colt barrels: even the older Colt barrels may or may not be manufactured by Colt. Some old Colt barrels were stamped with a "G" on the barrel extension signifying they were manufactured by Green Mountain Rifle Barrell Company. Colt subcontracted them back in the early days of GWOT. These are excellent old-school TDP-like barrels.
Geissele really hit it out of the park with their gassing on this one imo. Being wrong handed, I had the opportunity to shoot 11.5-16” super duty rifles with the RC2 and RC2 minis and man, it made me really rethink about sticking with a traditional style can compared to the newer flow through tech. Great video as always!
Also really important to note the Geissele enhanced Bolt and carrier.... The Carpenter 158+ FORGED bolt and enhanced carrier is a huge improvement over a standard BCG in terms of strength, and longevity, as well as reliability. The process of forging the bolt just creates far more strength, on top of the fact they work directly with Carpenter steel to produce the C158+ which is stronger in and of itself to begin with. And also a little touches such as the cam pin only being able to be inserted one way, effectively doubling its life ect. And the nanoweapon Coating is amazing as well. The entire thing is just a recipe for an amazing dedicated fighting/Duty carbine
I didn’t realize I was ahead of the times…. 2019…. I “built” an AR with a 14.7 BA Hanson pencil barreled with a Troy mlok hand guard and BCM upper with the mid length gas system, on a carbine length lower with an upgraded spring and H2 buffer…with deadair flash hider pin and welded…. A 10 shot group was 1.42 at 100…. With 1-8 lpvo. Using 75 grain frontier. Great run out to 720 with a 14.5 gun. Badass!
1.4MOA is not bad, most ARs are 2-3MOA guns honestly. That is PLENTY accurate for efficient "combat accuracy" from a fighting rifle that is not a designated DMR.
They should weigh both platforms too, as these rifles are exceeding M1 Garand weights with all the gadgets on them, which for an average civilian are not a thing.
23:48 the government procurement topic… as a retired Infantry PSG turned 1102, you are spot on. Yes, a contract is initially awarded, but contract mods (modifications) are common and it’s easy to mod a contract especially if it’s within scope.
Just wanted to send over coffee money for cracking me up at the end. I can't stop watching your channel but would not in wildest dreams have access to any of the amazing firearms you showcase. Is there any chance that any of the modern under $1000 factory bolt action rifles can clear your course??? Keep up the great content.

Ah the 779XXXX slides. Great stuff. A bunch of those arrived in the Philippines in the late 1980's and 1990's and later into private hands. Competition shooters used these slides to build IPSC set ups.
Used the block 1 and then the mk18 in the military, great guns. Used and abused those things. Bought an 11.5 super duty(urgi) cause I didn’t want the same exact gun as my issued but close enough. I was so impressed I bought the 14.5 urgi. Definitely a huge improvement, even with the bolt and carrier system. Super soft shooting and suppresses very well.
Strong work as always!! I really love my URGI. I got it out to 616 yards with MK318 mod 0, and that Winchester imported 62gr OTM. Can't wait to see what it does with Black Hills 77gr OTM.
I have one each 16” and 14.5” Geissele barrels on two very nice rifles I’ve built. Both shoot sub 1 MOA with 5 shot groups (AAC 75gr). They are both very well gassed rifles and very pleasant to shoot. I’m sold on their barrels and it was good to see your results.
Awesome video, as always. I especially enjoyed geeking out on your commentary on logistics. I was a 30-year logistician, and NSN's and CAGE codes are very nostalgic to me.
25:00 IBM even manufactured firearms parts for the US army during WW2. they were considered a firearm contractor and supplied parts that met the requirement for the military at that time
Will you guys ever test any of LMT or Seekins weapon systems for comparison in terms of accuracy to something like this as they are changing the thought process on weapon designs as well?
I agree with Henry and was just explaining to my daughter that the rifle I have (M&P 15 Sport 2) is like our Nissan-- It's less expensive, runs great, is reliable, and allows me to do what I need to do... While the Rifle Henry and Josh are shooting is like a Corvette or Scat Pack Dodge Challenger... Lol!
When I heard about the URGI a few years ago, I wanted one but when Geiselle offered(with the DD barely then) them I decided to get a super duty upper instead(14.5) I was so impressed with it that I needed a spare and got 16” SD. My 14.5 shoots better than the 16. Every time I buy something that ends up a let down, I end up replacing it with a Geissele.
To me the Black SD is the better deal by far. Same EXACT rifle, same internals same rail but a better tapered barrel profile, and several hundred $ cheaper just because the rail is black and not FDE lol I jumped on that bitch quick.
@@9HoleReviews that was actually the plan! a 3” lift and some 33”s… just can’t justify it as the only dirt road I ever use is going to the range 2-3 times a month lol
Love my S&B 1-8 Dual CC on my 16 in Geissele SD. Sadly, my range is only 400 yds. Have the 14.5 and 11.5 as well. Phenomenal shooters, but the rail does get a bit warm quickly.
It's hard to believe that you managed to go out that far and that good, and consistent...There is a lot to be said both about the rifle and your skill, it really shows how good both are. Not forgetting the consistency of the ammo either. I can only dream of being able to do the same with a rifle twice the cost of that and in a caliber that's better suited for the task
At one point of time I was in a reserve unit that was still issuing M16A2s. My assigned rifle for a short while was manufactured by a contractor that was not FN or Colt. The TDP system is built so that theoretically any company could manufacture the equipment in question as long as it meets the specifications.
Sorry for being a smoothbrain here, but I've been curious for a long time now about what kind of bag you're always shooting off of and the contents of said bag. Have you ever elaborated on this before? If its a new topic, I would love if you talk about it at some point in a video or give some recommendations for similar setups in the comments some time.
I bought this upper and put it on an aero lower with a geissele 3 gun flat trigger. I havent shot with it bc ive been mag dumping with my main squeeze. But ill give her some love this weekend.

Others say 12.5" because there are stories his was cut down with the bayonet lug filed down to mount the ops inc collar+suppressor flush with the A2 FSP.

But something like the new Sig Spear and how long that’s been in-service at this point; And how much I’ve heard about the barrel and hand guard flex problems It doesn’t really compare. But regardless, I’ll consider myself fortunate..
For some reason this video was extremely hard to find and almost seemed hidden on your list? Not sure why but this should have thousands of views by now. Great video!

@@juncho1977 There was a point where @9-Hole Reviews was releasing a ton of videos from a boatload of work they were doing with Forgotten Weapon's Ian, their Countdown line and something else I'm forgetting on top of their stuff. @Vostok7789 I'm thinking UA-cam is having a stroke or something.
@@Vostok7789 For me it says @Glockshooter09 - 2 months ago / I guess it is just a UA-cam error .
@@sionsoschwalts2762B&T and HK don't want any of the smoke. They have never been, nor will ever be "better" rifles.
@@sionsoschwalts2762My Bren 2 stock is better than a lot of AR's floating around.
@melaninfarmer The Bren 2 is an AR18 type design isn't it? I doubt the USA would switch to it anyway as they aren't a fan of foreign made rifles.
Bought the URGI upper in 2018 when they first came out. So glad I did :)
Dang it. This has to be the greatest URGI ad that Bill could hope for
I think the geissele super duty and the URGI are the finest fighting rifles ever produced. I own one and I can’t even build one complete custom that I like better. I love that they aren’t absurdly over priced either. Plenty of good guns out there but it’s rare to find this amount of “magic” in one factory rifle. Trigger, rail, barrel, bcg are second to none imo
I love my 16” Super Duty, it’s a joy to shoot. Would like to try the URG-I side by side with it to see if I can notice a difference.
@@KiefsChingdom I’ve heard the Urgi is just a little more gas but that’s it
Bold claim. I own and love multiple super
Duty rifles as well as the URGI near clone. But it’s hard to call it the best fighting rifle ever produced when things like the SR-15 are still out there. Between my Geisseles and my KAC, the KACs tend to edge out the super duty’s when it comes to performance and durability.
@@patrickbowman8841that’s saying a lot meaning the duties are a fraction of the price of an SR
I got my 14.5 complete Super Duty upper for like $740 a few years ago on Black Friday lol
Granted I had to buy the Super 42/H2 seperately but it was only like $40 as it was black Friday lol
Im so glad i have this exact upper in my inventory at home. Paired w my RC2, its just a joy too shoot and now all my BCMs and Colts dont leave the safe very often. Im glad im not the only one w a hard on for this upper
I understood perfectly what you were saying about procuring replacement parts, you said it well the first time.
Geissele is my favorite got me a 11.5 upper and that thing is very accurate and gassed perfectly. When I use 77 otm I can reach out effortlessly to 450-500.
I'm so excited to see this review, I've been waiting for a long time for it!

For those interested in the accuracy breakdown vid of the various uppers, it's available here:
Geissele Accuracy Showdown
ua-cam.com/video/6nNRL3he4_k/v-deo.html
I’ve heard of some socom units allegedly just buying the uppers straight from Geissele. Like Henry kinda mentioned.
Also Geissele may just start using their barrels on the ones going to the army.
You should have a viewers show case where send in or bring there firearms to run the gauntlet
Three little words: As. Good. As.
Runs for cover 😜
Same as B5 making the sopmod stocks, and P&S products making RIS/RAS rails, vert grips, rail covers. They also have made waffle stocks, M4,& CAR handguards that are marked 4U485. Even upper receivers have been made by other companies besides Colt, and FN. I have a M4 stamped above the gas tube that with a "1KW91" instead of a C above the forward assist, that was an actual fielded upper. So, yes there are plenty of companies that make many of the parts.
The geissele chf barrels are better than the DD CHF barrels. Thee DD barrel is a government profile barrel.
Loved the plug for patreon. Laughed out loud. The piano and the collar really did it for me. Kudos for the humor.
Two ARs in my collection that I will never let go of… KAC SR-15 and my URG-I. They are absolute perfection
"Moooooore shooooting!!' Had me in tears! Cheers and keep them coming!
I wouldn't expect anything less from the best most long lived rifle system ever invented. The B52 has another 30 years of projected DOD operational life; i suspect so does the AR platform.
Glad these things are getting some love. I’ve had one of the “block 3” URGI Mk18s for a few years and it’s one of the most accurate guns I own.
U-R-G-I you aint got no alibi, you URGI you you URGI
This is funnier than it has any right to be 😂
A practical accuracy vid with a PSA AK GF5 with an LVPO would would make me so incredibly happy..... make it happen? 🥺
Make it urself brother
Use an import ak
That is outstanding. You guys might have convinced me to buy yet another AR upper :)
Wow, the block 2 already set a high standard. This thing is on a whole other level!
Rosco makes a lot of barrels for Colt and others too. Remember is the early days, both GM and H&R made M-16A1 rifles.
As an aside I've built rifles and one "pistol" with GM barrels and have been so far impressed with the performance.
Man that AR is a 10/10. Good video🤌❤️🌹
Great and very transparent review with a lot of background info regarding suppressors, round count for groupings etc. loved it. Thank you 👍🏻
I didn’t realize I was ahead of the times….
That IMI 77 gr is great stuff, really adds legs to 5.56 guns.
You should do the usmc m27 iar with the trijicon vcog
they have an MR556 so that should be close
They should weigh both platforms too, as these rifles are exceeding M1 Garand weights with all the gadgets on them, which for an average civilian are not a thing.
It's just a heavy barrel 416..
It would still be a fun video though
@@calholli i was more interested in the vcog part but yeah
23:48 the government procurement topic… as a retired Infantry PSG turned 1102, you are spot on. Yes, a contract is initially awarded, but contract mods (modifications) are common and it’s easy to mod a contract especially if it’s within scope.
it's crazy seeing guys on the internet speculate how the mil supply /procurement system works too isn't it
Y’all’s content with these rifles has convinced me to invest in one of those uppers whenever they’re available again.
Thanks for always putting the truth out without any personal biases towards a certain company or another.

Got to love a "delightful and exciting day of wind" type of range day!! In the UK these always include rain to really make it feel like living!
Ah the 779XXXX slides. Great stuff. A bunch of those arrived in the Philippines in the late 1980's and 1990's and later into private hands. Competition shooters used these slides to build IPSC set ups.
An absolute artist on the range, it's just so beautiful to watch Mr. Chan work.
That’s cool! And it is entertaining to watch a practical accuracy run with it. Good work!
Dude i absolutely love my geissele rig. They're super nice for the price.
I got my complete Geissele 14.5 upper for like $740 lol a few years ago on Black friday.
@@mrdark9916 that's what I'm talking about. These things can be had stupidly cheap for what they are.
25:00 IBM even manufactured firearms parts for the US army during WW2. they were considered a firearm contractor and supplied parts that met the requirement for the military at that time
Excellent shooting, very impressive results. Thank you for your time and effort sharing this information.
All of the maths and statistics in this video made me very happy
Josh is really improving his spotter calls. Good to see the evolution of the team as Henry's shooting improves as well.

My 14.5 shoots better than the 16. Every time I buy something that ends up a let down, I end up replacing it with a Geissele.
Yabi got my 14.5 Super Duty complete upper for only $749 on Black Friday a couple years ago lol

It's hard to believe that you managed to go out that far and that good, and consistent...There is a lot to be said both about the rifle and your skill, it really shows how good both are. Not forgetting the consistency of the ammo either.

This is why it is one of my favorite rifles. Can you get a KS1 rifle next?
Discussion regarding socom and TDP reminds me of debates I've seen about the "Gordon" carbine. Some people say clone correct is 14.5" because that's how the car-15's that they modified were issued. Others say 12.5" because there are stories his was cut down with the bayonet lug filed down to mount the ops inc collar+suppressor flush with the A2 FSP.
Great program guys great work. SemperFi!
