I've enjoyed all of your posts on your vlog. You've provided a thorough education about all aspects of the distillation process and the many factors that influence the distillation. Your experiment with chill filtration, for example, was illuminating. The humor, common sense and love for scotch that you evidence really distinguishes all your posts. Really, you have a lot to say. Thank you for taking the time to say it in English.
I bought this as my first "big buy" and remember it was amazing in its complexity..such an amazing dram for one taking that next step in to whisky... A definite buy. Thanks Horst

It's well balanced with a nice long, warm and lingering finish. This is a terrific whisky.

Amazing value and truly fantastic drink. After spending over 200 Eur on tasting a few dozens of Whiskeys , I bought a bottle of this and Auschentouchan 3 wood.

Would you advice glenlivet to a beginning whiskey drinker? Which one do you prefer the 15 or 18 year old? Or other suggestions of whiskeys to try.
This one sounds lovely. It would be a SLIGHT upgrade in price to what I've been buying, but after adding a Macallan to my collection, this is the one I will seek.

Bought one of this today. Was uncertain between this one, a Macalan 12 and Lagavulin 16.
Please the review the new version of Glenlivet 18 wich has a lower ABV.

Thanks for the review. I have the 12 and I think it's awesome, so so much better than the founder's reserve (which isn't even in the same league). Glad to hear the 18 is even better - I'll have to save up and try that one next.

What country produces the best whiskey?
Why is the price difference so high on this one between the US? with the conversation rate of EU to US almost similar most whiskies cost the same but this one is 100 US and 60 EU? Seems to be the case. I picked up a explorer's edition spice route 4 days ago flying internationally and I saw this 18 yr old Livet and thought the price was odd.

I had a Glenlivet 15 with me. I found it to be more malty in character and less sweeter
Every scotch drinker has a soft spot for one of the big four.
Big four ? Glenfiddich, Glenlivet and.. ?
Dalmore and Macallan
Dalmore... hmm. Gotta be honest I've been let down by their 12 and 15 year olds. Maybe I should try the King Alexander? ... But you're right... my soft spot happens to be THREE out of those four! :)

I’m a massive Glenlivet fan. Even if I wasn’t such a great fan, watching your appetizing review would make me run out and get some. Unfortunately here in Canada the price keeps raising. Today it is almost $200 Canadian dollars 😢. My most favourite however is the 15 year old!
Be aware the new 18 which bottled at 40% ABV is really worse.

guess pandemic and shortage of workers has affected Glenlivet a lot.
Could you compare this with Oban 14? I like both cause I think it's similar. Does Oban seems to have more body?
Would say that the oban 14 is closer to talisker storm rather than this. Oban 14 has that ocean like taste profile (i.e. salt, smoke, peat) whereas i feel this has a lot more complexity than that. There is more sweetness and the smoke/peat is much lighter and in the background, more secondary to the sweetness and oak.
Found recently a Glenlivet 18 batch reserve. Can anyone tell me if it is a new look or a different whisky of the one reviewed?
Dark_Pegasus it’s a new bottling lower abv at 40% I have both and prefer older 43% version and have ordered 2 before it disappears good luck

I have this at my local for $50 usd and the 12 year for $25, is this whisky worth spending twice as much, as in the complexity?

Amazing how much The Glenlivet has been from the 12 to the 15 and now the 18 for my tasting I will never drink the 12 and 15 again. Or I should say I will never buy it again if a friend offers me a snort I will gladly take part.
