I bought this as my first "big buy" and remember it was amazing in its complexity..such an amazing dram for one taking that next step in to whisky... A definite buy. Thanks Horst
I've enjoyed all of your posts on your vlog. You've provided a thorough education about all aspects of the distillation process and the many factors that influence the distillation. Your experiment with chill filtration, for example, was illuminating. The humor, common sense and love for scotch that you evidence really distinguishes all your posts. Really, you have a lot to say. Thank you for taking the time to say it in English.
Amazing value and truly fantastic drink. After spending over 200 Eur on tasting a few dozens of Whiskeys , I bought a bottle of this and Auschentouchan 3 wood.
I’m a massive Glenlivet fan. Even if I wasn’t such a great fan, watching your appetizing review would make me run out and get some. Unfortunately here in Canada the price keeps raising. Today it is almost $200 Canadian dollars 😢. My most favourite however is the 15 year old!
indeed 40% only and in Mtl. Canada selling almost $200 after taxes. got the last bottle in montreal today ... it was unavailable for almost a year...still unavailable , just got lucky on an old bottle ... guess pandemic and shortage of workers has affected Glenlivet a lot.
As a native speaker, "heavier" is correct and better than "more heavy" :) Thanks for the review. I have the 12 and I think it's awesome, so so much better than the founder's reserve (which isn't even in the same league). Glad to hear the 18 is even better - I'll have to save up and try that one next. Thanks for making these videos for us, it's appreciated a lot
This one sounds lovely. It would be a SLIGHT upgrade in price to what I've been buying, but after adding a Macallan to my collection, this is the one I will seek.
Dalmore... hmm. Gotta be honest I've been let down by their 12 and 15 year olds. Maybe I should try the King Alexander? ... But you're right... my soft spot happens to be THREE out of those four! :)
Amazing how much The Glenlivet has been from the 12 to the 15 and now the 18 for my tasting I will never drink the 12 and 15 again. Or I should say I will never buy it again if a friend offers me a snort I will gladly take part.
Why is the price difference so high on this one between the US? with the conversation rate of EU to US almost similar most whiskies cost the same but this one is 100 US and 60 EU? Seems to be the case. I picked up a explorer's edition spice route 4 days ago flying internationally and I saw this 18 yr old Livet and thought the price was odd.
@Whiskey.com Great review Mr.Luening Horst Luening:) I do enjoy your reviews very much and look forward to your opinion. On a side note, I am curious as to the microphone which you use. Would it be possible for you to share how does it project even the gargling of your whiskey please? Thank you:)
Would say that the oban 14 is closer to talisker storm rather than this. Oban 14 has that ocean like taste profile (i.e. salt, smoke, peat) whereas i feel this has a lot more complexity than that. There is more sweetness and the smoke/peat is much lighter and in the background, more secondary to the sweetness and oak.
Clearly if it’s a terrible review to you then your not a Scotch person. Get yourself a $20 bottle of rotgut and leave the good spirits for us who know what they are lol

This and Glenfiddich 18 is some of my favorites.
It's well balanced with a nice long, warm and lingering finish. This is a terrific whisky.
One of the best in this price range. Excellent, Intense aromas and superb taste.
"It's heavier... Or move heavy... I'm no native speaker." Lol. Love this Scotch, had some tonight. Incredible.
Sipping a glass of Glenlivet 18 as we speak and damn it’s good!
You can find it in Belgium around € 50. And boy, I am happy about it. The love for this bottle is indescribable.
Sure sure
Just picked this one up! Delicious stuff! Beautiful bottle, same as the 21 and the 25. Quality hooch 👍
Ive had a bottle in my cabinet for ages now that i haven't opened. just waiting for that right occasion
@@foxhound5702 has that right occasion since arrived?
what is your top 5 Mr. Leuning?
Great whisky indeed.
Please do a video comparing old glenlivet 18 43% with new edition 40% in english. I am wondering how much worse is new release.
Hi Horst ! I'm from Brazil and enjoy single malt.. I would like to thank you for your videos !
I love that one Horst, definitely a go to for me as well!
One of my favorites. Thanks Horst.
Probably the best 18y price/quality.. for 68€ in portugal.
Amazing value and truly fantastic drink. After spending over 200 Eur on tasting a few dozens of Whiskeys , I bought a bottle of this and Auschentouchan 3 wood.
Love how he swishes! Cheers!
One of my favourites as well!
I look forward to your top 5
I received a bottle of this as a present for Christmas. I can't wait to try it.
Wow! Some mouth-watering review indeed!
Enjoying a dram of this right now, fantastic stuff. Excellent review as always.
Looks like it's a winner.

Be aware the new 18 which bottled at 40% ABV is really worse.

guess pandemic and shortage of workers has affected Glenlivet a lot.
Please the review the new version of Glenlivet 18 wich has a lower ABV.
One of my favorite single malt. Love it!! 🥃🥃
Bought one of this today. Was uncertain between this one, a Macalan 12 and Lagavulin 16.
Wow! Sounds fantastic.
I'll be having this for the first time this Christmas.
Nice review, thank you.
Sounds great. I look forward to purchasing this bottle. Thanks for this review.

Great video Horst! added this one to my ever growing list of 'To buy'! Thank you :)
Every scotch drinker has a soft spot for one of the big four.
Big four ? Glenfiddich, Glenlivet and.. ?
Dalmore and Macallan
Dalmore... hmm. Gotta be honest I've been let down by their 12 and 15 year olds. Maybe I should try the King Alexander? ... But you're right... my soft spot happens to be THREE out of those four! :)
I would give up after two strikes.
vara fouroneone yeah the 15 sucks

Amazing how much The Glenlivet has been from the 12 to the 15 and now the 18 for my tasting I will never drink the 12 and 15 again. Or I should say I will never buy it again if a friend offers me a snort I will gladly take part.

What country produces the best whiskey?
Found recently a Glenlivet 18 batch reserve. Can anyone tell me if it is a new look or a different whisky of the one reviewed?
Dark_Pegasus it’s a new bottling lower abv at 40% I have both and prefer older 43% version and have ordered 2 before it disappears good luck
About 150 CDN in BC,Canada. 60 Euros about 90 CDN. Amazing what taxes and transport will do!!
$92 in New Brunswick.
I prefer the Glenlivet 15 French Oak cask to the 18. What do others think?
Chris Billington i agree. The 15 in French oak is my “always have a bottle” scotch.
$90 in Canada. Still worth it even though I’m crying thinking about spending that much.
$100 in Dayton ohio
But well worth it
Over $200 over here in Korea. Tax is crazy
$150 in Toronto... Where in Canada is this bottle $90?
@@notoriouspunjabi I think he's referring to the 12 or 15. You can't get an 18 below $100
Price kya hai

60euro = reasonable, damn good
BUT
200dollar in S.Korea yeh!
Do not ignore the K-Price.
Great Whisky Love Glenlivet 18 Tasty Fragrance 😜😜😜😜😜🤪🤪🤪😝😝😝
I have this at my local for $50 usd and the 12 year for $25, is this whisky worth spending twice as much, as in the complexity?
Yes it's worth it.
It sells here at $120.
:(
Hell yes it is. For $50, I'd buy 2 of them! They're $100 over here.
Could you compare this with Oban 14? I like both cause I think it's similar. Does Oban seems to have more body?

Gutes Video, sehr informativ

I’m a 22 year old woman watching this and enjoying it. I have no idea what this means about myself. lol
Emh nothing?
It means that you are on the path to spirit enlightenment
Lets fook
The bad news is, it still tastes like whiskey😡
5:24 gargle it Horst gargle it son !!!
UNC Tarheels how is this not top comment?
No I am not getting that at all. It’s all cherry like nibs.
this one is not for me, feels too gentle and the tastes are not as intense as i want in my dram
Is it good or not, stop acting lol
It's bad etiquette to stick your whole nose in the glass... then breathe extra hard out of your mouth.
Philly Scorpio not for tasting purposes...thanks miss manners.
hot spirit horrible terrible review
Lol....terrible review my ass
how is it terrible?
Clearly if it’s a terrible review to you then your not a Scotch person. Get yourself a $20 bottle of rotgut and leave the good spirits for us who know what they are lol
Your a moron.
What an idiot... get ur taste buds up
