    I bought one 4 months ago and would recommend it ---my son has the big rec tec and it is nice but a lot of wasted space--this one is ideal and as for the drippings just use a coffee can and I found the easiest way to clean it was with oven cleaner--spray it on and hose it off--be carful when using it for a grease fire----when you go to a higher temp

    I have been getting the E2 message occasionally even though my grill is clean. Like Steve said at the end...I’ve been cranking it to 500 to get it up to temp, then backing it down when I’m close and want to be around 225 for slow cooks. Recteq told me that if it doesn’t get to 180 in 30 min it shuts off....but I’m getting the e2 message way before that. Cranking it and tricking the grill has worked thus far to get it going, and once it’s to temp no problems at all. Just FYI!

    • @SmokinSteve
      @SmokinSteve  4 роки тому

      Thanks for the input .... never had any problems yet with error messages ... knocking on wood! It has always came up to temp within 15 minutes no matter what the temp is set at. Seems to work flawlessly so far. Again .. knocking on wood!

They say their customer service is second to none. I haven’t had to contact them for any problems cause I haven’t had any, but if you should I’ve heard where they are awesome.

    You have the heat baffle upside down. Not a big deal. I'm wishing I would've got one of these recteq grills instead of the Oklahoma Joe pellet that I bough for my weekday grill, it just wont get hot enough to get a sear on steak and burgers although it does give a nice flavor.

    Really like your video also the one before it very informative for someone who is looking at purchasing a smoker. I was looking at the Wi-Fi traeger it's like 7 or $800 but this one looks great it's half the price of the traeger and since I'm mostly only cooking for one or two people I don't need that large of a smoker. Thanks for the review they're out of stock but I will be looking for one soon.

      If your a normal cook have the lip facing up to help with airflow. For low and slow cooks, turn it over and have the lip facing down. It will help restrict the airflow to help maintain a low temp.

    Great video thanks. Almost bought one of these tonight but figured I better do my due diligence first. How do you compare the flavor to charcoal w/wood chunks for smoke? Does it taste different? Less smokey, more smokey? And have you compared the internal temperature probe to an external temperature probe? Are the internal temps accurate? I have an older model Traeger and while I do enjoy cooking on it, I find that if I want 225, I have to set it to 250, and if I want 275 I have to set it to 300, and so on. Seems to be about 25 degrees off, but at least it's consistent. I want something more accurate. Thanks!

    • @SmokinSteve
      @SmokinSteve  4 роки тому +3

      Great question and my answer is that the pellets that I’m using Bear Mountain Gourmet Blend is much better than anything I’ve ever used. These pellets seem to give the food a smoky flavor even after smoking a short time. I’ve had a lot of different smokers and these are the easiest and the best to get great results. All pellets may not give the same results, but Bear Mountain is awesome. You can find a link under my video if you want to check them out. Thanks for watching

    • @SmokinSteve

      It’s all pretty much indirect. There is a diffuser over the fire pit with holes around the outer edge of the diffuser. The fire pit is in the center of the grill and the plate over the top of that is solid with holes fanned out towards outer edge. Hope this makes sense to you.

    Would you say this can smoke as good as the 590? Trying to figure out which one to go with. The higher temps on this one seem good for traditional grilling and making pizza. Though it seems like the 590 might have a better build quality because the warranty is double the length.

    • @SmokinSteve
      @SmokinSteve  2 роки тому +1

      I would say the build quality on the 590 would be a much better build quality than the Bullseye. The Bullseye is a great grill / smoker and at a great price point, but the quality of build doesn’t hold up to the rest of the line up. With all that being said I have a 700 and the Bullseye and I use the Bullseye 10-1 over the 700 Bull.

    Thx for the review. I think this is the perfect basic pellet grill for grilling hamburgs, hot dogs, and steaks, which btw is 90+% of my grilling.
    I've had my Traeger Big Tex for about seven years now and love it, its a great smoker grill but the drawback is its so big it takes a while to preheat and it just doesn't have the high temp to sear steaks. The newer ones get hotter and I've been watching UA-cam reviews and shopping around for about a week now when I came across this. You just saved me at least $1500
    The thing I noticed about this bullseye and you pointed out is that grease collects in the bottom (and drips). My first thought was this needs a drain hole and grease bucket, any thoughts about that?

    • @SmokinSteve
      @SmokinSteve  4 роки тому +1

      Not sure ... my initial thought was that might be a good idea, but my second thought was you’ll be changing the air flow in the grill which may cause problems. Sounds like you do mostly hot cooks so much of it should burn off while you’re cooking. I did find that a couple of the nuts holding the fire pit in needed snugged up a bit. That may have taken care of the drip in the bottom.

      @SmokinSteve  4 роки тому +2

      Have had no issues with grease fires .... After a few smokes the grease and drippings start to build up a bit in the bottom. You should scrape and clean it up a bit before going to riot mode to burn off. In my opinion, if you just go to riot mode to burn off without cleaning up a bit first you stand a chance for a grease fire. So if you've done several smokes and the grease has built up it should be cleaned by hand before going to higher temps for searing or burning off.

      @@SmokinSteve hey Steve I just purchased my first rec teq bullseye 380, and watched couple of your videos on it. Quick question for you about the under grill mat you got in this video, where did you get this one store or online a link would be great?

    When doing the burn off how long to you let it burn?

    • @SmokinSteve
      @SmokinSteve  3 роки тому +1

      It all depends on how bad it is. You can wait until the smoke turns clear or blue and open the lid to see if it is the way you want it. It may take only 15 minutes or could take maybe up to 45 just depending on how dirty it is and how good you want it to be. Hope this helps ... Thanks for watching

    Why don’t you just place a bucket under there instead of letting it drip down to the pad?

    • @SmokinSteve
      @SmokinSteve  4 роки тому

      I guess you could if you know where it is going to drop each time. Whatever works! It’s all good! Thanks for watching

      @@SmokinSteve Oh, I just saw that puddle was and thought that maybe it always dropped there. I was confused

      Not a problem at all. It no longer drips even there. I was able to tighten the bolts up on the firebox and it doesn’t drip at all

      LOL .... I’m not cooking at 750°.... crank up to 750° for searing and to burn off junk in grill, however some people may tend to grill their steaks or pizzas at that temp. There are some people that like to go hot and fast, but I tend to smoke then crank temps up, but not that hot.
