I was supposed to do a grand trip from Texas through western states up to Alaska and back beginning in January and arriving in Alaska next summer but someone close to me was diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer, so I am here helping tocare for her. Hopefully, I can go the next year!
I just got up on the last two videos. The scenery you've shown so far is incredible! And having the roadway basically to yourself is the way I like to drive. Thank goodness you now have access to credit cards and cell phones. I'm sure it makes you feel more secure.
I’d love to hear all about your pets and how you manage that aspect of your travels. Also, why buy/drink bottled water? Plastic bottles !? Alaska water, isn’t it high quality?!
Our pets do well together. My (MiLena's) cat loves to torment Sharon's dog. He pays no attention to her until he can't stand being hissed at one more time, then he charges her just to let her know to leave him alone. She backs off until the next time. Having a cat that is toilet trained is so much easier than trying to carry a litter box. When we have a long drive day, we take time to get them out of their crates, and let them use the bathroom, and stretch their legs for 30 minutes or so. We drink bottled water for several reasons. The first is we do almost all dispersed camping, so we are careful to reserve the water in our fresh tank. The other reason is because it's more convenient when we are driving. We like cold water, and we don't have the freezer space to buy ice. We did drink tap water on the mission trip, and it was fine.
Hi Ladies, I love your sisterly banter. Since it's Nov any help from me is no help at all. But.. Few things, Locked phones were banned in Canada years ago. Any phone bought in Canada will accept any sim card. Many many Americans "fix" their US phones by turning on roaming in settings, allowing their US carrier to work in Canada Cheap prepaid phone from Walmart may be a route u can try. Thank-you for taking your time in Canada. Most Alaska bound Americans seem to drive the Alcan as fast as possible. Looking forward to your next episode. Carry on, cheers from Yukon
Great episode. Were the prices you mentioned in Canadian currency? Did you find a Laundromat in Ft. Nelson? I like your day to day recording of your activities with lunch being made etc. Not so scripted and sanitized real people stuff. I am looking forward to your next installment.
Our pets did well on the trip. The cat isn't fond of the dog and loves to irritate him. When he's had enough of her hissing, he acts like he's charging her. She backs down and settles down. We do buy bottled water. Part of the reason is water is a scarcity when we dry camp.
Yay! Phone and credit cards!
Bert, we were so happy to have credit cards and phones. The little things make up so happy.

We will pray for her and you. Sharon was a caregiver for our Mother, and it is not easy.
Great real world information, keep it up 👍
Thank you so much!

Not having cells and cards was more of a nuisance than anything else. We felt safe in both Canada and Alaska.
It's so nice to see this trip from you ladies' point of view. I feel like it's more "real" than others. You're inspiring me to go!
If you get the chance to go, go. It was an amazing trip.
You two are so cool. Just the level of info and your bravery - all good stuff!!
Thank you. We do enjoy traveling and sharing our adventures with others.
Thank you! God bless
Thank you so much for watching.
Enjoying your Alaska trip! Thanks for sharing with us. Y’all are an inspiration for us to plan an adventure!
We are so very glad you are enjoying our trip. Thank you for your comment about our being an inspiration. We sincerely appreciate it.
Did y'all have the e-bikes? Well done young ladies.
We love our e-bikes. As a matter of fact, we have a playlist just for the bikes. The time we used them most was when we went to Yosemite.
I’d love to hear all about your pets and how you manage that aspect of your travels.

Do you think this area was burned last year?
Honestly, we don't know.

We tried prepaid phone in Banff, and a Rodgers carrier told us it was illegal to sell non residents a prepaid phone, I think.
