  • “Blue Star Chios” had the honour to became the very first vessel to use Sigri's major new port facility when it arrived from Piraeus on 11th June 2022 just before 11pm.
At last Lesvos, Greece's third largest island, had two deep water ports - Mytilene and Sigri - both suitable for ferries and for cargo.
Videos following Erteka's groundbreaking development of Sigri's New Harbour, between 2017 and 2022, can be found in the playlist “Sigri - The New Harbour“ on this channel.
Work continues to finish the fishing shelter, the second element of the development

    Congratiolations Jeff and Sigri!
We, tourists that visit the island once, somtimes twice a year, have seen the port growing. It was a lot of work, done by a relatively small group of men.
Three days before the opening we were in Sigri.
Still a small and quiet place, with lots op opportunities now!
The road builders are really working hard and the new road grows fast now.
Hope to see the progress soon again.

A great opportunity for Sigri. Let's hope that there will be a ship from Thessaloniki too (for the people that live in Northern Greece)

Certainly agree with that - and perhaps move Athens port to Rafina and come direct - would make it a very quick service to the island
