Tip: If travelling with spouse/partner/friend, always book two aisle seats across from one another (rather than next to each other). You are still able to talk easily but chances are at least one of you will get "poor man's business class" i.e. no-one occupying the middle seat so extra room. Obviously won't work on fully booked flights and probably not the best choice for newlyweds with some hand-holding in mind! For non-newlyweds and introverts, it's great though :-) Good video Chris - even as someone who travels fairly often there were a few tricks and tips I hadn't considered so thank you!
Little known trick about aisle seats too is you have the ability to raise the aisle-side armrest by pressing the secret button on the underside of the armrest.
I actually just booked one-way for me and some of my kids from LAX to Morocco. I initially just booked the outbound since I didn’t know what flight I wanted to return but wanted to be on the specific outbound. Later (within the 24 hour cancellation period) I found the return I wanted. Turned out booking the round trip was going to be MUCH CHEAPER than what just the one-way was going to be. So I booked the round trip, then cancelled the one-ways. Ending up saving so much money! Crazy cuz usually 2 one-ways are better!
Excelent tips. Booking a flight with a connecting flight is definitely cheaper. However some of those wait times are miserable as short as 25 min. I've already missed some. So sometimes not worth the savings. Also getting on 2-3 planes in 24hrs is taxing on the body and wind up not being well rested for following day. Always good to take that into account
I've always booked roundtrip flights -- or multi-city on the one occasion we needed to visit a couple of cities -- but I got a great offer for our favorite hotel in Victoria, B.C. anytime in 2023, as long as I booked before New Year's. So I booked the hotel nearly 12 months in advance and then kept checking the Alaska Airlines website, which unfortunately only allows bookings for 11 months, as those dates were added. As our outgoing flight date became available, I realized that on one date, the first class airfare was only $45 (including taxes) more than the regular fare! The upgrade includes two checked bags per person ($30 for the first, $40 for the second), extra legroom, priority boarding, a free alcoholic beverage, and a snack selected in advance (more than the usual peanuts or pretzels). If I hadn't be checking one-way fares, I would have missed that killer upgrade. I did have to shift our hotel stay by a couple of days (which they graciously allowed), and the difference was significantly more for the return flight (so we'll be in the main cabin coming back), but going first class one-way will make a special trip even more special. For most days I've checked since then, the one-way first class upgrade is $100 to nearly $400, but on a couple of dates it's as low as $70 which, if you're checking two bags, still pays for itself without any of the other bonuses. So I think from now on, I'm going to always check one-way fares, especially if my return date is flexible.
Wow Chris!!! Great info!!! Thank you so much!!! The only tip I think you may have missed is if you fly with Southwest and the fare goes cheaper after you buy your ticket, you can call them and they will "refund" you the amount in the form of credit to use on a different flight, so you don't have to wait to buy with Southwest
We were just watching your tricks to book cheap flights and have been trying to get to Japan since covid ended. We randomly checked for cheaper flights while watching your channel we found $400 dollars one way to Osaka the price we usually pay from Honolulu to Las Vegas. Mahalo so very much for your advice.
Great information Chris. We tend to book earlier because we pick our seats and are particular about the seats as they are most important. We check for pricing , etc as well.
Super helpful video. Thank you! I am a travel agent but still all very good tips. you would be surprised how many people are using travel agents nowadays. It is busy!!!
Tried out Google flights the other day and it gave me some really good options for trips we plan on taking this year!! Will be particularly helpful for peak season trips. I never used this feature before this video, so thank you for sharing it, Chris!!
I love all these great tips! I really need to keep in mind about setting price alerts. I'm potentially going to go on a big international trip in early September, so I may need to consider this in the coming weeks. I agree also with using the multi-city feature. I remember reading that it may sometimes be cheaper to fly into one city and then flight out of another. I did this last fall when I flew from Detroit to Belgrade and then flew home from Rome.
@@YellowProductions I'm going on a group trip to the Republic of Georgia! I might try to go somewhere else in Europe for a few days before that trip starts too.
Thanks for letting me know about Google Flights, which I was not aware of. Here is a tip of mine: once you get to Europe (London especially), getting flights to other European cities is relatively cheap, making the total cost less than flying direct from the US, or booking straight through on one airline. We often spend a night in London, and then go to our main destination via one of the low-cost European carriers, such as Ryanair and EasyJet.
Personally I would pick LAX as a connection point simply because the weather is better than SFO, and SFO often has a ton of weather related delays. But if you want to know more about LAX I suggest watching my video on LAX here: ua-cam.com/video/KFdGejjV3mg/v-deo.html
@@SabrinaHClifford I have the Delta Platinum and was told that it doesn’t include international. Although the agent didn’t say that with much confidence.
Ive never flew on united, delta and southwest. With the roundtrip cheap price you find on these sites you mention that check bag are included in the fare but what about choosing your own seats for yourself or if you want to sit with someone are they also included. I've checked delta and economy fare doesn't include choosing your own seats.
It's been a while since I've flown on Southwest, but you can't choose your seats. Instead, Southwest boards by group: A, B, and then C. When you buy your ticket -- and possibly as an add-on later -- you can pay an extra fee ($15 per boarding pass?) to secure the next available spot in the A group. The remainder of the A group and the B's and C's are then assigned in the order that people check in for each flight, which can be done beginning 24 hours before departure time. So if you want to guarantee early boarding and have the best choice of seats and overhead compartment space, pay the extra fees. Otherwise, you have to be sure to check in as close as possible to 24 hours before both your departing flight AND your return flight. I usually don't have a problem checking in when leaving on a vacation, but it can be harder to remember to check in for the return flight.
The credit card sign up tip unfortunately won't work in every part of the world. There are places where your credit score is badly hurt by the total amount of liability/credit from the perspective of potential debt. Silly, I know. Counter intuitive, as I had to find out the hard way

Hey - Do you still think the hotel century southern tower is one of the best in Tokyo?
This is by far the best google flights tutorial that I have seen. Love it!
Wow, thanks!

Thanks Sabrina! And I know you've seen alot of my videos!

Great points on connecting flights
Great point on body being tired, comes to think if it's worth it.

Yeah. It's probably time for an update
Great video, like these over livestreams tbh
That's why you get 1 of each every week 😉. A live stream in the beginning of the week, and an edited video in the later part of the week 😉
Love the sound effects in this 😂
Glad you enjoyed them! 😉
A trick I use is booking one way flights rather then round trip. Book one way there and one way back. Usually saves me a good amount of money
Great tip!
The guy is incredibly unrated His stuff is so good
Thanks Solace Guy 😉
You are a wealth of information

WOW THANKS I DID NOT KNOW GOOGLE FLIGHT DID ALL THAT!✈👜😁
thats awesome. had no idea about google flights.....every dollars counts from australia...
Glad I could share something new!
Beautiful 🥰
I can sometimes find cheaper stuff on my company’s discount program website
Why is SFO better than LAX? I would think opposite. I’m planning a IAD to SYD currently in March and trying to decide which airport to pick.

Have to put in our vacations 6 months - 1 year before... so no dice on waiting for deals
Those free checked bags are for domestic flights only for the airline branded credit cards
Delta gives both me and my husband our first checked bag free internationally with our Amex card.

@@SabrinaHClifford is that from your $200 airline annual credit? If so, that’s not free, it’s a reimbursement. I’ve already used $120 of that credit.
Hi Joe. Not sure about all airlines. But at least on United it includes international trips too
Go to BELIZE THEY SPEAK English and if you take 1,000 it’s 2,000 dollars in Belize. Over 200 islands to see
You know it is Panda Day? Maybe you know about that too! Thought you might do a short on that with Topher
Sweet!
What about all inclusive trips or if your a single traveler
What is your tips for flying in and out of smaller airports? I rather enjoy flying through those airports because of the less hassle.
I like smaller airports too 😉
I love google flights explore map
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
The Flexible Dates option does not appear for me. Did they get rid of that feature?
The VPN hack doesn't work anymore the airlines figured it out.

Anyone know airline rules about skateboards?
Record your toiletry bag items already! You are a year behind and you promised us lol
I sure am jaymeez 😉
I found SAS fare for $750 with luggage and Delta was $849+$150 bags
It’s not that hard to travel. Just stay at cheap hotels or hostels if you’re younger.
I'm more of a Park Hyatt fan myself 😉
Im 36 and still stay in hostels 👍
