Hi everyone! I've wanted to make this video for a while. Talking about art burnout and how I'm dealing with it - along with my plans for the future! Let me know if you have any experience with burnout. Thank you so much for the continued support! Hope you're having a great day! -Chris
Ive been subscribed to your channel for years (since i was about 15 I think, I'm now 23!!) and have always been so impressed and enthralled by your work. Im so glad to hear you've been resting and having a think about what will work for you moving forward. Social media is scary, and it can drop you in an instant, but we can choose to resist the creativity on command culture, take it slow and make decisions which will serve us in the long term. I also completely resonate with this as a writer and hardly read any books or wrote anything after churning out poems for my dissertation in the middle of lockdown. It was helpful to have a break because it also gave me time to understand myself, what I wanted to become and how to tell my story through my work. If I'm spending all of my time writing there would be nothing to write about
Don't worry about being left behind. That's not possible since I regularly check for new work on UA-cam and constantly re-watch your previous posts. Thank you for those posts especially because I learn so much and, frankly, sometimes it's the most wholesome and relaxing videos to watch repeatedly. Don't worry about rushing to get back before your time from burnout. I've had it for more than a few decades or so. I don't know why, really, since I truly love creating digitally and traditionally.
I am working on 3d origami art, and I could say that I had a burnout, During Covid I stopped doing it. and for 2 years I was creating very few figures. Also I have discovered my passion from drawing and for 1 + years I am practising, I have recreated your Haku dragon three times, one like yours, and 2 more with different color and time setting. Now for my other passion of music, I felt a burnout that I was making the same stuff, but in order to continue to upload and stream music I have expanded to different genres. I dont know if you read this comment, but I wish you well, YT algorithm is not kind for the creators to take a break. Woring with diffrent mediums and drawing with selfmade rules, gives a challenge. For my drawing I have started with markers, then adding colored pencils, also playing with watercolors, and watercolor pencils. I would have use more stuff but my art budget is not enough and my time. If I feel that I am bored, I will explore other medium. You are an amazing artist, and your voice is so soothing, you could just make random videos with doodles talking about things. Like this video
Thank you so much for the continued support, Andrea! I truly appreciate it. :) I'm looking forward to posting more soon, once I've decided on a direction. Hope you're doing well!
Hey it's good to see you posting a video again remember just to take your time you're one of the most amazing artists I've ever seen and I can't wait to see what you put out next whenever you're ready : )
Glad you felt able to share how you are feeling with us. Several of the artists I support on UA-cam are feeling like you are, so you are not alone! The last few years have been tough on everyone and on all our creative imaginations. Looking forward to seeing more content when you are ready. Take care xx
I needed this 🖤 the awful cycle of guilt for taking breaks and dealing with burn out is a massive struggle we all face. This type of content is so helpful, uplifting, and inspiring. This breaks the illusion of perfection social media showcases. Thank u so much
I really enjoy watching your videos, I am watching you for more than 2 years, I think you are very talented. Art burnouts are something real, it can happen to anyone. If anyone read my comment, I hope you will have a nice day. Peace.
I've experienced art burnout before. For me personally it was too much studying. I can be very passionate about art sometimes, and then I have a tendency to overstudy because I just absolutely love the field and want to know absolutely everything about it. After evaluating the situation I was able to take a step back and overcome art burnout in a short time. You have inspired me to be more flexible with my art and be more creative with my ideas, too.
Probably a year ago I watched your tutorial about drawing trees and it really helped. I was drawing trees again recently and remembered your tutorial and found you again. It helped a lot and it makes me sad that a lot of art channels are moving away from tutorials and hope you continue
Taking breaks, no matter how long they might be and securing your mental health is well, is more important than anything else. No one should be sorry for taking care of themselves. I hope you find a good balance and way to become more stressfree and less pressured. Always loved your art pieces, kept me inspired to try different things and improve my skills. Much love
Hello, I’m actually happy to see you posting again! I’ve always loved your videos and have found you extremely relatable. From the burnout that you’ve experienced(or still are) and the ways you cope it’s all so greatly displayed when you talk. It’s also nice to see you creating dragon artwork again. Keep going on building yourself and expanding. You are not a forgotten artist, at least not in my mind.
You have been a constant inspiration for me these past years, I am so glad you are taking care of yourself. Whenever you are ready, we will be here. Love this Dragon!
Hi Chris! So glad you’ve taken the time to reflect and reassess. It’s so important. I think the pressure to keep up with social media can have a very negative effect on creativity. I have also been taking time out to enjoy nature and have also been trying to eat more healthily and get more sleep which is helping. I also am trying hard not to compare myself to others and instead concentrating on my own art journey. I wish you all the very best and look forward to your next video. Take care 😊
When I experienced burnout, with both art and writing, taking some time to look at new things (shows/movies/artworks) especially stuff in new genres/styles, really helped! Of course it's all different for everyone, but I hope this helps! Edit - now that I think about it, looking at things you enjoyed a long time ago can also help
Learn, absorb experiences, alter them any way you want, then tell us a wonderful story with either a single image, or thousands. We must alternate between observing/learning, applying/challenging and then take some time for ourselves...our true selves. To finally express what we want to share with the world.
Thank you so much, Mel! Taking the time to find inspiration from movies/video games and looking back at my previous progress with fantasy art definitely feels like it's helping.
Ive been a fan for a LONG time, and I've had this recently, so I'm glad you made a video about this, and know that we will support you whatever you do!
When I have art block I tend not to draw for a while so I'll do writing or gaming and a part of me will be bored and want to doodle something (( at my desk I always keep a spare bit of paper aside for this doesn't have to be an amazing sheet of paper can be printer paper)) and when I want to doodle i let myself go. I don't control where my hand goes! This helps with my anxiety and stress! Honestly even if you don't have creativity block just give it a go it really helps!! Letting yourself unwind is a great way of getting rid of art block because your not trying to create a masterpiece it's doodles. And now to the topic of the video Chris if your reading this! I adore your work its incredible and honestly I watched almost every video by now 😅 and I wanted to say thank you. You have been such a great encouragement to me. I've been doing art now for four years and a while ago I wanted to give up I felt like what I was doing was pleasing everybody else but had a negative effect on me. But every time I felt like this somehow the UA-cam algorithm knew and always found one of your videos to put on for me reminding me of what art actually ment! So thank you and I hope you recover from your sleeping issues and I hope you have a wonderful day or night!! And again thank you! Take care everyone!!
What triggers my burnouts is anxiety, so I always try to have more than one activities of release, gym, coffee shops, lonely time, but with time of doing this I recently discovered that talking it out is the one that we all need to have, could be a friend, a relative, a therapist your dog, your cat, anyone … just talk it out. Cheers mate, love your art and can’t wait to see more.
I'm so glad you are feeling better! Take your time. I will cherish anything you post, but there's no need to rush on our account! We'll be here when you're ready!
I'm young artist and I really enjoyed ur content even though I started watching u recently. I've been going through ur past videos like fantasy art friday because I LOVE fantasy, and when I found you I was happy. U r a big inspiration and I love ur imagination. ofc things get rough and like u said burnout is temporary. Soon u will find ur path again and this time it will introduce you to many new things better than before. I hope all goes well and best of luck.
Honestly, I've watched almost all of your videos. I've been subscribed for a while now. I love it. Your the one that has given me inspiration to draw and take my art to the next level. I'm still trying to promote my art and I'm having a hard time with it but I havnt given up. You've taught me to not give up when it comes to art. For that I really appreciate it chris
this drawing is absolutely stunning! Yes. burn out can be really hard and even scary at times. I had a burn out that took me two years to overcome and if I hadn't been so lucky to actually find my way back to art and creativity during that time I don't think I would be here today. I am glad to hear that you have been able to recognise your burn out and that you are able to take steps to work through it. Your friend is right. it is a chance to find and open new doors and paths that you otherwise most likely would not have considered taking if it hadn't been for the burn out. take the time that you need to figure things out and to find what's right for you. we others will always bee here for you, ready to support and enjoy your amazing art and journey.
So good to see you are well, Chris. This happens to all of us in various ways. I don't know if this will help but, I find that the more I think about myself, the worse I feel and the more confused I become. Spending time with family and forests puts me in reality and shows me what's important. You've added a lot to our lives... my three grandsons and I are huge fans. So when I didn't see any new videos last month, I wondered if you were maybe sick or moving, family difficulty,, the usual. Life does go on outside of UA-cam 😉 Be well, there's no agenda we expect you to live up to, just that you are enjoying your art and having fun elsewhere too ❤️🌹
I've had art burnout for a while. I have picked up a pencil maybe 2-4 times in the past year to essentially break off the rust. I've been finding more and more relaxation in learning piano than I have art, so I've naturally gravitated towards it as my work life has gotten busier and busier. But you're one of the UA-cam artists who I actually started out watching and inspired me to start drawing again some years back now. I know I would always check in on your channel from time to time to see if you have any new content and I feel I'm not alone in this, so there's no chance you're at risk of being forgotten about! Finding that centre balance is far more important than forcing yourself and damaging your mental health.
I love what you do Chris , it's fun to watch you , and you always have something worth listening to ,idk , sometimes your voice and art find a way to keep me interested in what I do as a hobby ... Always liked that art with the lone red figure in the gigantic scenes lol ... I'll be waiting for more , take your time and find what's right for you 👍
Good for you Chris. When I went through burn out I had PTSD like symptoms. So I researched PTSD and then made sure i was acknowledging triggers, and working towards lessening their effects on me. Mindfulness, art in many forms, and making down time in my life an important priority all helped. Lastly I gave myself the option of stepping away from my career if I was no longer happy in it. Fortunately I found it was not the career but the environment I had been in that needed changing. I moved, started a job in a new place, and focussed on small goal setting to get back on track. You got this.
A wonderful piece, beautiful colours and mood from the sky, love the ink work. Personally I've found that the harder I fight off a burnout or art block the worse the crash ends up being. So when one hits I try to let it pass through me. Take the time to reflect on myself and pay attention to what my body and artistic spirit is telling me so that I can get out of my slump faster and with the least amount of damage. Just remember that this to shall pass.
Aww Chris your work is such a high standard and I love everything you have done. You come across as a really genuinely nice person too. I’m sorry to hear of your struggles but these things are just phases in life. I’m guessing you depend on art for your living, which will increase the stress and work load because talent and ability are just part of it you need management and marketing and business skills as well. I have always been to scared to take that risk and am in awe of those who do. I struggle to find words to express how much you lovely You Tubers do for people like me who have always loved to do art but cling to the weekly wage in a job that’s good but leaves me wishing there was a paintbrush in my hand all day. The idle ravings of an old woman!
Hi Chris. I've been through burn out a while back. First of all, I'm a senior person, who when retired decided to get back into drawing. I haven't drawn since high school. I really enjoy your pencil drawings and how easy you teach them. Thank you. As the burn out goes...I was a professional magician back in 1998-2008. I got interested at 8 and as an adult; achieved my goal as performing. I did so much that I finally broke and said, ' if I have to make something disappear again, I'm gonna hurt someone'. Take your time and find out what's in your heart. Again, I really appreciate and enjoy your teaching. God bless.
Hi Chris, I just want to send you some encouragement! I Love your videos and your art. I'm a local art teacher in GA and your landscape drawing videos have helped me a lot with simplifying how to draw rocks, trees, etc. I hope you make more tutorials! From one full-time artist to another, it is important to take a break. I have been watching your videos for a long time and I honestly did not notice you were gone. I love your work so much and reference it that I check back in to see if there is something new. Don't worry about being left behind. Trust me, you won't be! Your art has value and people remember it and will come back to it, as I do! Take care.
What you said around 4 Minutes about fearing to be forgotten - I can't speak from a creators perspective, but from a viewers perspective.. I won't stop watching your videos just because there might be bigger breaks inbetween uploads or things similar. I watch your videos because they are yours, and because I like what you create, and because I enjoy watching you do so. And that won't change.
Great to see you back, I love seeing your art and it really inspires me. If it helps, I would love to see your tutorials especially around how you plan your art before you start. It's also really nice to see someone being open and honest, it's so easy to think that really good artists never get blocked or wonder what comes next so thank you for showing the rest of us that it happens and its ok to readjust. Looking forward to seeing what you do next (once you've decided).
It is good to see you back! I really enjoy watching you make your art. I hope you continue this positive path and I am patiently waiting to see what you come up with! But you just take all the time you need. I think there are a lot of people with me who find your art worth the waiting!
Been feeling a heap of art block and exhaustion. Having kids has not helped as much as I love my little cherubs. Having to put aside all creative endeavours and save them for the night time (not ideal). So i opted to include my little girl with art. But on the side I have been creating my own art prompts to really get me in the mood for creating something epic. It's sucks you have gone through this Chris. It is really good to see you back. Take every project one line at a time. And enjoy the process. Peace!
I’m glad you will still be making art videos, I love your art and it always inspires me to continue making my own drawings. I wish you the best of luck wherever your amazing talents take you. We all need breaks sometimes :)
I dont mind you taking breaks. I rather have a video you enjoyed making then you falling into an even bigger hole. My tactic for burnout is mostly to take a step back and do only that what i love. Which is fanart. And then at some point the itch to create something of my own comes back. The struggle to balance things in life is something we are all dealing with. So keep going and find out at your own pace what suites your life. Wether it is massive projects or rather more specialized but less big projects.
Yes I've been there too! Unlike you though it has taken me 3 years to get back into art for various reasons. What I found after three years was that I was spending far too much time prior to that watching everyone else and on social media far too much. This took me away from my own progress and I started to feel the same as you. What I needed was a good rest and a holiday to visit my parents. During that time I was with them and due to covid I decided to get myself a cheap Wacom 13" drawing monitor, a drawing pad and graphite pencils in order to start drawing again. I missed it so much that when I started to draw both traditionally and digitally I was able to get back into the rhythm again and really really enjoyed it. I also stayed away from social media as much as I could and focused on my own drawing instead of everyone else's. I now only sub to a few channels which help give me inspiration but also help teach me techniques I wasn't aware of particularly in the digital sphere. I use Clip Studio Paint (CSP) and Photoshop but due to how and what I draw I found CSP a lot of fun and have been learning a lot from using it. That said I also love watercolor painting and intend on getting back to it very soon.
I always wondered why artists on social media feel so pressured to create so much content. It will never work, and creativity is not something that comes easy, true creativity is rare....
Hey Chris. Long time enthusiast of the channel. I have learned more from watching your videos and being enthralled by your creations than I did in art school. And I hit bad burn out after school . I got to where j didn't want to touch a pencil or paper. Just nothing seemed like fun to draw. Or when I did think of a subject. I couldn't forsee it in my head. Like I had no direction . What finally helped me. Was finding a new medium because prior if I didn't have somthing I had to do I had no desire to do it for pleasure. I could still sit down snd draw but it was a lot more work and a lot less fun .but jist so you know. I'd be super bummed out if we lost you or your presence in this genre on yt. Not many thst do it like you and none that I enjoi watching as much as I do you. Your killing it snd I wouldn't be the artist i am today without a little input from Chris my art teacher on UA-cam. Love ya man . Long time fan and ill be here as long as you are. Well crap I didn't finish the video. Half this is relative anymore. I'm glad your not leaving .
Amazing to see you back and inspiring, although only a hobby artist - i get saturated myself sometimes especially with full time life in the background, so good to get an angle on how you have dealt with this, stay safe and take care
Thank you very much for sharing your art with us and being so honest about your struggle in life. It is important to preserve mental health. I hope you will find a way to take care of yourself to find creativity and inspiration again. Warm regards
I can connect to this a lot. I'm currently experiencing burnout rn, and burnout it's really hard to explain. Burn out is something that you would do it all the time but start getting exhausted and can't really have the motivation to do it and try to push yourself but the feeling was different like being forced. I've been doing art for the majority of my life. I love and enjoy seeing myself grow and improve. But in the last summer, I felt like I was suddenly burned out. Like I couldn't get back to doing art everyday and just couldn't get the imagination like back in the days. I felt like I was on my device all the time looking at art. Especially cuz I was changing myself, going to puberty and turning to a teen (pre-teen ish) and just change completely and I couldn't felt to play with my toys and it's just still there. I'm still so young and have so many things to explore but it was hard balancing school, my family, my friends, my struggles with art, etc. So I started focusing those things and just leaving art, toys, etc behind. It felt empty, I felt empty. But I'm planning to return this in summer. Planning to hopefully get redemption to those things I left all of the sudden in 2 months. Once I cleared up my mind and the things I got done, I'm hopefully planning to make a comeback in summer. I hope my burn out hopefully goes away eventually because it feels annoying and heavy having it on my shoulders. I hope I can do the things I did before like a normal person. I don't want to quit art, art literally impacted my life and inspired me and it's something I don't want to lose my hard work of. I don't want to stop doing it, but burn out is making me. I want to keep exploring the art world and show my creativity. One of my plans I can hopefully do is drawing humans and dragons and learn digital drawing (because it's so popular nowadays)P.s I'm also having burn out with homework so I'm trying my best and hopefully PLS that goes away too
A true artist is always trying different mediums which can also include clay, wood, pastels, charcol etc etc that is what prevents burnout. As a true artist we are all much better than most at mixing up our meduims.
it looks grate man, and i know how you feel I'm going through burnout right now, but you need to keep the ideas going to help with that, but still giving yourself a well-ernd brake is right a story, and swimming I'm righting a novel and it's helping me keep the ideas going but still letting me step back that might help.
Thank you for this video, it was very brave and honest. Best of luck on our journey and new projects. The only person who needs your undivided attention is you. The rest will take care of itself. Wishing you all the best!
great looking tree dragon 😀 burnout is a PITA and sometimes lasts for a long time, breaks from art can be a good thing to help with it even tho it can be hard to take a break (mostly due to having to try to stay relevant)
I'm really glad you uploaded, but I'm sorry to hear how difficult it is to keep up with having a social presence and all that. I personally really enjoy every single video you make so for me I know I'm happy whenever there is an upload here on the channel. I'm just glad you do every now and again. I recently re-watched the wood video and dot drawing as well as the gold experimenting and ink and I really enjoyed the glass one as well.
I'm currently going through a burn out myself. I share a lot of the same feelings you do and hearing your story makes me feel a little better and give me a lot of hope. I'm slowly but surely trying to get back to the way I once was and figure out what I need to do myself. Its been hard bit I still want to try to get better.
I feel like, just based on your amazing line work alone, you could be a fantastic tattoo artist if you happened to go down that path. Just a thought that popped into my head while watching some of your other videos! Best of luck with whatever you choose!
You are my one of the biggest art motivation you'd literally inspired me a lot about drawing. I got very emotional while watching this video but we all are humans it happens I will pray to God to make you free from art brunout. Keep inspiring us 🥺🧡
I recently went through burn out. I feel your story and mine are so much alike. UA-cam was a major one for me, trying to make videos weekly even though I told myself I couldn’t do that when I started (over a year ago now) but I did it anyways. I also have been working on wanting to start a small business on the side to sell some art as well as working on commissions. I was doing all this while working a full time job. I reached a breaking point and I couldn’t create the way I wanted to and found myself doing 5 maybe 10 minute pen sketches. That was all the energy I was able to give. So I gave myself time away from my art and Read books, watched tv, the new horizon game came out and that helped me keep my mind occupied. Then one day I decided to do some fan art of one of the horizon characters, Kotallo and I told myself if I was to paint it, definitely if I was to record it, to take my time. I can’t put myself through that again. I’m my opinion it’s one of my favorite maybe even my best paintings I’ve done in a while! Sometimes it feels like taking one step back is more like taking 30 steps. But what ends up happening is that one step back is a way for us to build the momentum to take a big leap forward.
Hope your feeling better about things. Please don’t worry, creativity ebbs and flows at its own pace. I always try something completely different, like 3D or photography/collage when my imagination has taken a hike :)
Love your work, especially dragons. You asked for ideas of things to try next... How about a curled up, sleeping dragon, done with acrylic paint on hand sized rocks? Like pet rocks. Or, how about one of your forest scenes, with a dragon and the red caped figure, painted on a bigger rock? No markers, just paintbrushes. Missing your Fantacy Friday videos like crazy! Warm wishes from sunny South Africa.
I always enjoy your creativity, I think you would make a wonderful illustrator. I know some creative people don't want to have to work in limiting circumstances, but when you work on commission projects they have some limitations as well, and the money makers may allow for other creative avenues to explore. I understand feeling lost, I have had a great deal of personal tragedy in my life over the last year, I often wonder if it will ever stop being my turn to live with the doubt, the fear, and the mourning. But I get up, I put one foot in front of the other and I pray, every single day. Good luck finding your path, and reaching your goals.
Wow Chris. Seems you’ve been having a tough time of it lately. Glad you are taking steps to keep yourself well. One thing you might try is working alternate weeks or months. That gives time for rejuvenating. I talk a lot about this on my channel. Perhaps you’ll find some of the videos there helpful (although my drawings are nowhere near as good as yours). Keep it up as I love your candour and honesty. It’s very refreshing.
When i was going through burnout it really helped to not force myself to draw things that didnt interest me, it also really helped just to start sketching, even if i had nothing in mind, i just drew random figures and eyes and lines that made no sense, and after a few times i started getting some insparation! You could also do this with shredded paper, just throw it at your table and draw the first thing you see^^
Hi ! I like your arts. Don't worry about it, take your time and you'll find your path. Anyway your art is an inspiration to many. I loved everything you've done. Take care of yourself. :)
art burnout is really difficult to overcome, I never got back into making drawing videos but from time to time I do paint and occasionally draw on ipad procreate
Hi, ich mag alles was du tust, deshalb schauen wir doch zu. Nimm dir Zeit solange du brauchst. Denk nicht darüber nach was wir wollen sondern darüber was dir Spaß macht.
I know how that feels had near burnouts at at work as we short staff being off and I had do alot on my own as rushing around and watching videos been with creative drawing love digital art as well
Regardless of what direction you go in, I'll still love your art, I'd never leave you behind ❤ Also, when you do more fan art, a suggestion I wanted to make and have for a while, would be a drawing of Saphira from the cover of the Eragon books, so you have something to compare to the movie one
I follow you on FB i believe. I avoid other's especially with the politics bs. I'm glad you're back. Yes, you should try new things. I change up all the time. I see art in everything... from photos, fantasy to becoming a hairstylist and chemical specialist... then floral design to costume designer. I do photography too. My grandmother was a painter. But traveled abroad... so though this is a drawing channel, if you happen to decide to travel... take your camera, do live streams.. you can do anything from drawing stuff in UKRAINE to photography. Remember, these types of moments get big notoriety even if that side is only temporary... it's a change. Also the war could be affecting you. Do you feel you have like ants in your pants.. anxiety type issue, sleep apnea, etc? Like you feel you need to go but don't know where?
tbh chris - when you say its been happening over the last years, id be tempted to say that other things have also been contributing to an unstable state of mind, whether it be a creative dimension or any other (emotional, intellectual etc)
Chris, I love watching your videos and I can honestly say that I'm a HUGE fan of your artwork especially your fantasy fan art. I, myself, haven't drawn anything (i'm a reference drawer myself) in quite some time (a little over a year or so) so I can say that I too have been having some burnout but I mostly draw anime characters and with these newer anime series coming out, it's giving me an itch to get back into drawing, although I see myself tracing more than anything (I do that quite a lot to hone in on my line work and coloring) but even then I enjoy doing that. Also, have you thought about doing a collaboration video with some UA-cam artists like Mark Crilley or Jazza...those can also get you out of a burnout. Anyways, keep doing your artwork and I love and support anything you do.
you have to take time for yourself, cleanizing your mind of things, try siting at a water listening to the .sounds around you and washing them away . hope it helps and you can use a stream or running water.
About being left behind and forgotten on social media, I have been coming here to your channel to see if you got active again. There were videos every now and then but I realized your absence and checked out myself every time. Even this video, youtube didnt show me although Im subscribed, I searched your name and saw this. You are an incredible artist who come to my mind out of nowhere although Im not drawing and Im not following art content in general for a while. I just love your art and and sometimes think that okay today I want to see LethalChris Drawing's art and his ideas and how he expressed them in his art and also in his voiceovers. If I hadn't seen any new videos on the channel for a couple months, I would def try to reach out to you to see if you are ok. You and your art are that influencial to me although Im not in the art community by no means. I dont think you will ever be left behind or forgotten. Ofc you may lose from views for sometime or smt like that idk but at least you will never be forgotten by this girl from Turkey who you will never met and finds peace in your art. She will check you out regularly even when you are not here and even when she is busy with completely different things, hobbies and life. Im glad you are aware of your burnout and do this. We can (and we do) always watch your old videos, look at your previous pieces and enjoy the same, they will always be there. But your mind is the most precious thing and should be preserved
Hei, sry for my english... i'm stuck with bein creative for some years now, working as a tattoo artist, after making mostly digital stuff. I think tattooing is the right medium for me, it's so meditating, the process itself. On the other side i had much problems getting enough money, especially with the corona times, when we were closed for at least 10 month... and overall the feeling in this certan studio changed, everybody was burned out somehow... and i would sleep not more then 4-5 hours except on free days, where my body just couldn t keep up... my body and my mind rly went down the hill... now i try to recover and tryin to find a way back to myself... i left the studio and wanna try another place out... try to sleep more and not "waste" too much time on social media... for some time it s okay... but when you staring for some hours on that tiny screen, just to turn your head off went not good for me. Now after i left the studio, it was "freeing?" to me, don t know the right word... and after a few days of rest... i started sketching and was happy with my results of the day... no pressure at all. Now I try to keep going, i think i just needed a restart and a new place to even change anything... don t know if it s rly getting better, but at least sth. changed and i have fun drawing again, at least for some hours. I hope you ll find your way and feel a little more relaxed and never feel under pressure again feeding the system... art needs time and sometimes you can t just snap a finger and boom art... just do sth. else for some time and then restart fresh. :) Thx, for your video. Greetings, Fabs
Funny this came up in my recommended at this time. I'm currently working on a NFT project which has the potential to change my entire life/income as an artist. I am so excited but found art burn out at of all times couldn't be worse for me right now. Its nice to be reminded that others have the issue and I think its a weird thing only creative people can seem to relate to. Makes things far more difficult when you have people relying on you!
maybe you could try for your next video you could draw an ice cat love your drawings I have suffered from art burn out to...great job posting another video bye.
I’ve felt like I’ve lost my imagination for art for at least Five years now I can work from reference all day but I can’t seem to bring the will to create something original.
What's the computer program you're using? Can't wait to see where your break takes you! I've often wondered where you'd be if you did more of your own work/creations instead of reworking characters someone else created. It's easy to lose your voice doing this.
Check out the book The Artists Way, incredible
I was wondering where you've been. I hope you find your way soon. You're extremely talented and your art is an inspiration to many.
Thank you so much for the continued support, Andrea! I truly appreciate it. :) I'm looking forward to posting more soon, once I've decided on a direction. Hope you're doing well!
@@LethalChris1 take you time. And we'll be here waiting for you. 🤩😎❤️
Hey it's good to see you posting a video again remember just to take your time you're one of the most amazing artists I've ever seen and I can't wait to see what you put out next whenever you're ready : )
Hey! Thank you for the amazing support. :) It really means a lot.
Take your time Chris ! Amazing artwork as always !
Take your time Chris, I hope you find what you’d like to do and achieve it. You are an inspiration to me and I’m sure many others as well!
Glad to see you’re back. Burnout is a problem in all walks of life. Nice to hear someone talking about it.
Life does go on outside of UA-cam 😉
Be well, there's no agenda we expect you to live up to, just that you are enjoying your art and having fun elsewhere too ❤️🌹
Welcome Back and Looking Forward to See More Artwork from You and Your Positive Energy on Your Tutorial Drawings!
Beautiful art as always, Chris. Take all the time you need, we'll be here when you're ready
Thank you so much, Bridgette. :)
Completely agree!
Wonderful to see you back on UA-cam. Your creativity has been a big miss to my daughter and I, we love watching your art unfold together!
Missed you for sure! I figured you were doing this because I know you'd never leave. Cant wait to see what you have in store! Be well
I dont mind you taking breaks.
Glad to see you back brother looking forward to future videos anytime I seen your artwork it'd push me to keep trying
It’s tough, come back when you’re ready. We’ll be here
Amazing to see you back and inspiring, although only a hobby artist - i get saturated myself sometimes especially with full time life in the background, so good to get an angle on how you have dealt with this, stay safe and take care
You are such an inspiration to me!! Thank you my friend! ❤️
🌹🔥🙏🏽 I love your tutorials! You are doing the just the right thing like going into nature/movies/photography/friends. All the best to you!
One of my plans I can hopefully do is drawing humans and dragons and learn digital drawing (because it's so popular nowadays)P.s I'm also having burn out with homework so I'm trying my best and hopefully PLS that goes away too
I hope everything is going well and it is understandable to take a brake. I love your art and thank you
A true artist is always trying different mediums which can also include clay, wood, pastels, charcol etc etc that is what prevents burnout. As a true artist we are all much better than most at mixing up our meduims.
Happy to see u back. And the drawing turned out awesome. Hope u had enough rest 🥰
I support your break- be you, take your time and heal as you need to when you need to. I'm glad your going the direction you are :3
it looks grate man, and i know how you feel I'm going through burnout right now, but you need to keep the ideas going to help with that, but still giving yourself a well-ernd brake is right a story, and swimming I'm righting a novel and it's helping me keep the ideas going but still letting me step back that might help.
Nice to see u back!! Cool drawing
Love your videos and its one of the things that kickstarted me into doing art in 2020. Thank you :)
I'm currently going through a burn out myself. I share a lot of the same feelings you do and hearing your story makes me feel a little better and give me a lot of hope. I'm slowly but surely trying to get back to the way I once was and figure out what I need to do myself. Its been hard bit I still want to try to get better.
Take your time and come back when you want to. Don’t worry about social media. Take care of yourself buddy.
O.O cool dragon!
You could also do this with shredded paper, just throw it at your table and draw the first thing you see^^
Even when I take a break I’m constantly worrying about how I am falling behind. I’m trying to get myself back.
Hi ! I like your arts. Don't worry about it, take your time and you'll find your path.
Anyway your art is an inspiration to many. I loved everything you've done.
Take care of yourself. :)
Wow..💪👏👍❤️
Also, I like to listen to M D Campbell while I draw. He is very wise indeed. And his story is very interesting and inspiring.
You can draw, very beautiful 👍😊💕
art burnout is really difficult to overcome, I never got back into making drawing videos but from time to time I do paint and occasionally draw on ipad procreate
Hi, ich mag alles was du tust, deshalb schauen wir doch zu. Nimm dir Zeit solange du brauchst. Denk nicht darüber nach was wir wollen sondern darüber was dir Spaß macht.
I know how that feels had near burnouts at at work as we short staff being off and I had do alot on my own as rushing around and watching videos been with creative drawing love digital art as well
Regardless of what direction you go in, I'll still love your art, I'd never leave you behind ❤
Also, when you do more fan art, a suggestion I wanted to make and have for a while, would be a drawing of Saphira from the cover of the Eragon books, so you have something to compare to the movie one
I love your dragon art! where do you find your inspirations and references for your dragon art?
Big fan sir
Wow, it's amazing and amazing drawing skills ~~~ ^^💛💛💛Please play it in my room often, too ~~ ^^👍👍👍👍
Hei,
sry for my english... i'm stuck with bein creative for some years now, working as a tattoo artist, after making mostly digital stuff.
Thx, for your video.
Magnesium helps w my sleep, hope you get better💕
maybe you could try for your next video you could draw an ice cat
love your drawings
I have suffered from art burn out to...great job posting another video bye.
I recommend samarost 3 it’s a 2d puzzle game which could give you inspiration
I’ve felt like I’ve lost my imagination for art for at least Five years now I can work from reference all day but I can’t seem to bring the will to create something original.
I recomend you should care your inner road, Sometimes just be.
I had a burnout before. My solution was to try new mediums.
The only thing that helps with a burnout is rest or changing things in my opinion
take your time, fill your batteries; we are waiting :o)
What's the computer program you're using? Can't wait to see where your break takes you! I've often wondered where you'd be if you did more of your own work/creations instead of reworking characters someone else created. It's easy to lose your voice doing this.
