I don’t know if you all share my feelings but I don’t understand why all nursing programs are so difficult to follow and then I come here and find Sarah and she makes everything so simple to understand. Schools should follow your system. Thank you, you are my savior.
Scarlet Borges that’s because Sarah is actually teaching and not just reading off slides...Nursing school, unfortunately is filled with teachers who don’t know how to, or care to teach.
I recognize your video is primarily for nurses, which I am not. However, having recently been diagnosed with MG, your information is proving invaluable to me. I now have a better idea of what to ask my neurologist during my second appointment with him. Great work! Thank you for such a clear explanation of an illness that, such a short time ago, I was blissfully ignorant of.
I wish I could have paid part of my tuition to nurse Sarah because she helps me way more than any of my lectures. I get what I need in 30 minutes rather than a 3 hour long lecture with random rambling and off topic stuff.
I am currently 65 years old and was diagnosed in 1984. I have lived a pretty normal, just retired!! Just wanted to tell anyone that with proper care you can get through this. I never told my co-workers or my employer, made that mistake once and was "laid off six weeks latter". I than worked my next job for 25 years!!!
I wanna Thank ' YOU' I'm a Registered Nurse here in Canada for 18 years in NICU and I was challenged by the Nclex-rn exam .So i decided to take the exam after i got my eligibility .I graduated from Philippines the processing took 6 months so while waiting i saw your youtube videos and i was fascinated by You. You're such an excellent teacher . I have no experience in Adult nursing so i learned a lot from YOU.I focused on your videos and Saunders as you recommended.I took the exam last March 11,2019 and got my unofficial result March 13, and I pass. Thanks again .
I was just diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis Disease. I hope that the specialist I’m seeing on March 1st will tell me that I can get help with my disease and lead a normal life!
Hi Sarah, Thank You so much for this video. I am neither a doctor or nurse, but an actual MG patient. Until I watched your video I did not full understand my condition because my doctors either didn't understand or didn't want to take the time to actually explain to me what in the hell was actually going on with me. Very helpful and again Thank You.
I didn't know that I have MG since last year (when the pandemic started). I can't take shower/toilet, can't even comb my hair. I fell on the road few times when I'm on my way to work. Also fell in the toilet several times. I feel so weak, can't eat/talk/swallow & can't do any expression on my face. losing so much weight, from 52KG down to 40KG. It took more than a year before the doctor can confirm that I'm having this disease. I try my level best to be strong & sometimes I feel so down, hating myself & cry. Cuz I didn't expect this will happen to me at the age of 31. But the current meds that the doctor gave me, is helpful (I'm on medication now). It might not last long, but I can walk now, but still can't run.
Hiii! I am a physical therapist and recently took the NPTE here in the US, and Thank God I passed!!! I really would like to thank you for sharing these easy-to-learn videos to all of us. You have been such a blessing. Thank you!!❤
hi Sarah!!!this is my first comment ever on youtube.I took my nclex for the second time yesterday and passed!!!!!!!! your videos are great. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. May the Lord bless you in all your days to come.
Hello Nurse Britnee :) Congratulations!! I'm so honored your first UA-cam comment is to me. THANK YOU for that and for leaving the comment. I'm so very happy to hear my videos helped you prep for NCLEX. I wish you the best in your new career as a nurse. I'm so happy for you!
I remember watching this video a few years ago when I was in nursing school. I didn't like neurology so I had a hard time to understand this topic. The name "myastenia gravis" sounds really cool to me, and I keep remember that in my mind. Long story short, I recently got diagnosed with general MG. I didn't finished nursing school because I had a hard time during the last year. Looking back I think that's when I started having MG symptoms but never realized it untill 4-5 years later.
Hi Sarah.. thank you is not enough to say how grateful I am to have someone like you doing this. You have no idea how big of a help you are to us nursing/med students. Forget about other materials, coz of you, I am officially a US Registered Nurse (New York RN) Thank you very much, God bless and keep doing what you were born to do. 🙏❤️
I remember when I was in college. Our professors would normally ask us to report. Instead of understanding the lesson well, we tend to get bored and not understand the lesson well. When I enrolled in the review center, the reviewers were able to simplify things. Thanks for simplifying the topics. You are a genius. I am planning to take the NCLEX and I will watch all your videos. I will recommend this to my colleagues as well.
I believe I have this, is how I found your video. I do not have the best health insurance down here in Florida. So I can not pick and choose what doctor I want to see. I’ve been complaining about my issues for years. It started with my eyes. I ended up with prisms glasses. Have double vision. I had to have upper eye lid surgery because my eye lids made me unable to open my eyes hardly at all. My arms and legs hurt so bad. I can not hold my arms up. Even the simple task of folding towels has become very painful and exhausting. My voice has deepened. Chewing food hurts my jaws as much as it’s exhausting. I have zero energy. In order to go anywhere at all, I have to take a nap prior. Then when I return home I’m completely exhausted. Peeing has become an issue for me. With all of these issues. Yet no doctor has ever tested me for anything. I have high pressure hydrocephalus and a vp shunt. So every issue must be related to that they say. They put on blinders and refuse to see anything else. I have recently started seeing a new neurologist. She really isn’t listening or asking me any questions. She gave me a brief test and wanted me to close my eyes. I was almost in tears and was afraid I would fall. I can not close my eyes and stand for more then a couple seconds. I waited four months to see her. She is performing a nerve test on me January 4. I am unsure why or what she’s trying to accomplish. I’m not nurse. But your video made me feel I finally may know what’s going on with me. Now how to get a doctor to test me for this? Sorry this was so long. But thank you for allowing me to get it all out.
I have gained so much knowledge from you/r videos in the two years that I have been in nursing school, than I have in most of my classes. Thank you. You have been a blessing, especially this summer... as i prepare for my final semester!
Thank you for explaining this. I'm sad to have only just ben diagnosed with this at 34. I joined the Army at 21 and wanted to serve but my muscles wouldn't let me push hard enough.
My mom just got diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis.. I'm still in shock.. she has difficulty with speaking and swallowing... I hope for everyone good health.. Thanks for the video!
i will be taking board exam for nursing for the first time this June 2018.. I'm so nervous..i really enjoyed watching your videos because it is easy to understand..i actually downloaded some of your videos so that i can review even offline..thank you for sharing your knowledge to us..May God bless you always!
I have just finished watching the lecture and tried the free quiz but gaze what, it was like the quiz were nothing ,I passed so easy and I know I will continue doing well on any test on this condition ,God bless you for me Sarah , keep doing the good work.
Thanks so much for this lesson Sara and your other video on cholinergic versus myasthenic crises. I am not a nurse but am trying to understand MG to help my mother navigate the symptoms. This information has really clarified what is going on and helped me differentiate between the two crises. I'm very grateful to finally understand! Thank you.
MASHA ALLAH Highly appreciated lecture on MG. As a nursing student, always found this page and explanation very helpful and makes our concepts crystal clear. Live long!
I really appreciate these videos as a nursing student. For those that wonder 'why can't nursing school be like this', there are several reasons. The first is the accreditation requirements. My understanding is that these are quite strict for nursing schools and, as with all strict regulations on educational programs, it can lead to teaching to requirements, which in turn can hamper a teacher's creativity. There is also a high emphasis on 'pass rates'. Thus, schools are likely to enforce the 'tried and true' curriculum that has maintained their NCLEX pass rate at a certain percentage as opposed to letting teachers improvise. As much as nurse educators say 'we don't teach to the test', the fact is that nursing schools do teach to a test because if they didn't get high NCLEX pass rates, no one would attend the school and nursing schools, like most other schools in the US, are ultimately a business. Lastly, there's the factor on instructors. To be honest, my nursing instructors have mostly been great. However, many of them are asked to double as clinical instructors, which in turn means they need to work clinical hours to maintain their nursing skills and certifications. This can stretch teachers pretty thin when you are teaching 2-3 days per week, working another 2 days in the hospital and then having to balance your remaining time against lesson preparation and grading and having an actual life. As an older student, I've had the benefit of being more candid and straightforward with my professors and I've seen how much work they need to put in just to maintain their certifications and do the basics of teaching, preparing lessons and grading. It's a ton of time and their pay, while not bad, isn't exactly stellar either (I'd make about the same amount of money as a new Crit Care nurse in most hospitals). Just a few thoughts since I see several people complaining about nursing schools. These are the realities that I've seen in my time in school. Personally, I think the best solution would be a shift away from classrooms towards clinicals. In other words, more clinical time, less classroom time. I think this would be the most beneficial. Students would be evaluated on their ability to actually apply skills and knowledge on real patients. This would enhance the training of skilled, safe nurses. It would also be easier (in my opinion) for students. Most of us learn best by doing and seeing and clinicals are just that. For example, I was struggling with sickle-cell and so my Pedi clinical instructor placed me with a patient who was recovering from sickle-cell crisis. It really enhanced my learning and understanding of the disease process, treatments and nursing interventions in a way that no class or video ever could (because I was actually seeing and participating).
Was recently diagnosed with MG on Christmas Eve. Researched videos on UA-cam to get more info on it and yours was the very first 1 I came across! You are Very informative and easy to understand. Thank you!
Thank You! My older brother just got the bad news of having this. The Doctors said his blood is pretty clean. To be honest, I know his life and mine will never be the same. He has all these signs. We have a lot of Dr. Quacks "Doctors" out there in the system. misdiagnosed by hospital one and the doctor number one... Quack... I would never remove thymomas .Doesn't help! Thanks for you expertise! These symptoms aren't hard to notice...
RN Sarah is definitely one of my favorite nurse content creators. You are so knowledgeable you break the info down simply. I honestly feel like if you have a nursing school everyone would pass all the exams and NCLEX with ZERO issue. Thank you for all the amazing work that you do
Thank you Sarah. Amazing lecture. I am not a nurse but my aunt got diagnosed a week ago with MG and I wanted to know more information about it and your lecture came so handy thanks
MG is something I tried to learn about so many times (it has never been in my scope of practice tho) and I always failed - because every time I encountered that condition, I thought "ah, MG again, I looked this up so many times, what was it all about again?!". Today I watched Sarah's lecture and guess what! I get it. Done. Thank you :D
This is so great! You're very organized and very educational. I love how you sliced those lectures like a piece of cake! You got a new subscriber now. Thank you and Godbless! .😍...and ohhh the quiz at the end too! Nice!! You are the modern Florence Nightingale to me! Much love!😍 Fellow RN here by the way. ✌😎🏥🙃
Just wanted to drop a line to say Thank you kindly for posting these videos Sarah;) God blessed you in this area for sure👌Your videos are short, concise & to the point. I passed my boards 1st & foremost thanks to My Lord & Savior Yeshua🙌Hurst review, my PN Mastery app & you! Your video tutorials & quizzes were a great blessing to me & I just wanted to say, Thank you & May God continue to bless you with the God given talent he’s endowed you with. The gift of teaching❤️
Hi Sarah, video on test taking skills and associated anxiety? You the clarity you offer on the nursing process is wondering. I view your lectures before my texts readings and even after. They really put every in to perspective. Thank you so much for help.
You're most welcome, Jodi! Best wishes with the respiratory disorders. Here are all my respiratory videos to help you out: ua-cam.com/play/PLQrdx7rRsKfXxyukzyHpqYrJntLbv0aGE.html
Yay for an MG video from you! Timing is everything, as I just had lecture on this yesterday. I found your videos and resources a couple weeks back when covering cardiovascular, and even though I've just got 11 months left for my LPN-BSN, I will be utilizing your videos until I'm done (wish I'd stumbled across these much sooner). Your delivery of material is excellent, clear and concise, and easy to follow and internalize. Also, for some reason, I seem to pay more attention to those with an accent; yours doesn't fail me! Keep up the great service you provide to aspiring nurses. YOU ROCK!!
So awesome! That was really perfect timing...I love when that happens! I'm so glad you found me....better late than never haha! Thank you for the kind compliments. I really appreciate them, and I'm so happy to help you out! Best wishes in your program!
Sarah, thank you so much for this video! I am doing what I can to learn about this condition, and your lecture is comprehensive and has given me the groundwork to go further! Thank you! Thank you!
My mother is having myasthenia gravis from last 3 yrs but she has no symptoms like difficulty breathing and chewing and eating even ahe has no double vision will it increase by time ??? She s taking medicinesnshe is stable
Sarah you should pin me at my pinning ceremony in December 😂 your videos played a major part in getting me through;you truly have a gift . Thanks and Keep doing what you do !!!
Thank you for posting! I'm no doctor but was able to follow this and felt enlightened. Our son is 7 and has special needs. He's often tired, has memory and brain fog issues. General muscle weakness in gross and fine motor skills. MG is not hereditary, but could someone with MG impact a developing child through milk or while in the womb? I feel after our new findinng we should go back to the pediatric neurologist with these new findings from his mom.
Sara!! Thank you so much for your help.. I literally do better on any topic u have videos on... PLEASE MAKE ONCOLOGY VIDEOS.. No one on UA-cam has good videos
Thank you so much...I watch every one of your videos...love your teaching method. Would it be possible for you to talk about ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke...its on my third semester final in two weeks?

Highly appreciated lecture on MG.
As a nursing student, always found this page and explanation very helpful and makes our concepts crystal clear.

YOU ROCK!!
