Wow, this is amazing. Just shows how much can go into midi composing/orchestration. This is some next level stuff... It is the mistake of so much vi composers to not worry about doubling instruments and complex reverb processing. All that in combination with the extraordinary perfomance possibility that divisimate provides makes it sound so incredibly realistic. Bravo!
I think now is the tipping point....at a certain degree of realism it doesn´t matter anymore what it is. It´s just independence from a very costly thing: Real Orchestras. And if the director doesn´t like your composition like this....he will never like it even with a real orchestra. I think this is a significant step forward..Still needs a lot of improvement but it´s absolutely fantastic.
Thank you SO much for doing this video and providing the template!! Those last few minutes, showing the combination of transpose to open chords up and give space for the melody range were particularly inspiring. Any chance of getting the Nuendo template too?!
Two weeks later an answer: We just made the SWAM orchestral template available: www.divisimate.com/templates There's one for Cubase, should open up in Nuendo just fine!
The solo part melody line towards the end @9:58 sounded a little robotic and unreal (for lack of a better term right now), but outside of that, the things this can do is game changing. Please do a setup demonstration like from scratch. Not a template. Like you open your DAW and set this up. Also could we get more demonstrations on setting this up with other DAWs and operating systems? I’m assuming this works on PC’s too.
The Eareverb sounds truly amazing, my only concern is that the orchestral positioning in this reverb plugin operates as if there are a pair of mics by the conductor stand (I'd assume), but in fact, a scoring stage in real life has many more mics set up aside from the pair of room mics that your plugin is simulating here. If I also want to have different close mics and overhead mics for different instruments, how would you suggest one to achieve such goal?
Of course there is a limit to how precise you can recreate an actual recording situation. EAReverb is just an algorithmic reverb with some very clever settings, that get automatically adjusted when you use the positioning view. So it doesn't really "simulate" anything. By adjusting the dry/wet ratio you can kind of dial in a close mic, or by using EAReverb as a send effect and other doing adjustments within the plugin you can change the sound to your liking. I think it can be more effective to start with an end result you like as a reference and try to recreate that sound with the tools available instead of trying to meticulously recreate every step of the acoustic situation and hope that the pieces come together in the end. We just used our ears and built the template following our own taste and some of our favourite recordings as references. - Steffen
Thank you for putting together this interesting and informative video! Things are here and there a bit above my head (still learning), but sound-wise this is very convincing. Appreciate the "tricks" showed to make in particular the Audio Modeling string sing. Will definitely consider buying Divisimate when the next sale is on! Small question: will what's shown here also work in Windows Studio One using an Android controller?
Hey Peter, Yes, all this should be possible as well in Studio One. Not sure about the MIDI sends for the string section, but the general concept is possible for sure. The Android App is functionally identical to the iOS version. (If you own any SWAM instruments, the next sale is on right now, by the way!)
@@Nextmidi Thank you for coming back. The Midi sends thing seems crucial in the Cubase example, still wondering if this somehow also could be done in Studio One...
@@petersvan7880 Peter Svan I just checked - seems like the same thing can be achieved by building a Multi-Instrument in Studio One. Essentially the MIDI-Send thing is just for convenience to have only one recorded track per section sending MIDI to multiple instruments with their own FX chains, so the editing of recorded parts has to be done only once. The Multi-Instrument feature seems to do just that, which is pretty cool.
I have almost the exact same plugins. I Cannot get anywhere near the sound you have... Also, I don't get why you're not just making all instrument tracks, instead of this midi routing stuff. Please help. I have all the software AND hardware, except for Altiverb....
Great Video. So clever ! Since the spitfirelisten on midi channel 1, how do you switch articulations for them? Do all of them get the same keyswitch? Do they sound simultaniusly?
Just make SWAM and Spitfire listen to entirely separate data for switching. You can switch the spitfire articulations with UAC (CC32). Make sure that the SWAM instruments don't have this CC mapped, and use other CCs to switch the play mode in the SWAM instruments. Then you can use the trigger plugin in Divisimate to switch them all at once.
So I got the the TeControl Breath and Bite Controller and I wanted to ask, do you change the vibrato depth to be assigned to 1 of the parameters on the Breath Controller? From the NAMM performances it seems that you're not using the Mod Wheel to control this so I'm curious, how is your vibrato depth is setup?
I asked this prematurally. Bite is assigned to Mod wheel by default. I will leave the question up because it's possible you changed that setting (but I kind of doubt it).
@@DarrinNoNAME You're right - we use the bite control on CC01 to control vibrato depth. Surprisingly intuitive for performing both expression and vibrato at the same time.
I noticed that in the CUBASE template package many presets are NOT routed. Is that supposed to be that way. I can see some of them in the video with their corresponding routings!!
Hi Cecilia, There had been an error with the upload of the Presets for the Cubase Template yesterday in the first hours, so maybe try to redownload the template and presets from our site and see if they work now. If the tracks in Cubase are not properly connected to the ports, you may need to just connect them once more according to the ensemble layout.
May I ask - How are you changing articulations while playing? Do you use keyswitches or does Divisimate tackle this? Do you also experience any sample delays that you compensate for? Thanks so much
Personally we use a lot of playable libraries that need minimal articulation switching anyways. But when it's necessary I use Keyswitches - either playing them in a dedicated routed range or triggering them on preset change using the trigger plugin. Check this out: divisimate.com/performing-with-keyswitches-in-divisimate/
Try this direct link then: divisimate.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Teaser-A-DM-Presets.zip Also make sure to check out our Universal Orchestral Template - plenty more presets there.
@@Nextmidi I noticed the polyphony setting must be in "auto" position, but I am fighting against the legato when I play a chord, sometimes it sounds but, many times I only get 3 violins playing the same note..any advice to fix this issue?

I think the robotic thing is because every part is having the same midi CC. But they can be edited later etc.
@@soulscape5083 Would it be possible to humanize the MIDI CC as well on the fly? That would add some variation
@@chnacr2 ye you can put humanisation inside of divisimate (like the tranpose thing) iirc.
