Sarah Palin really was the big turning point in modern day (2024) politics. This movie really accurately shows how we got to our current chaotic political system. Her answers to the FED and Iraq questions make zero sense to anyone who is actually knowledgeable on the subject but the thing is most Americans aren't well educated on how the US government works or current foreign policy decisions. So her going for an emotional appeal to their righteous anger actually does work. Basically, Sarah proved that you don't have to know anything about running a government to be elected, you just have to put on a show and win a popularity contest. Meanwhile, you have people like John McCain and his staff who do know better (a reflection of the establishment GOP) and KNOW it's dangerous for someone that under qualify and unstable to be in such a high position of power, and yet they don't care so long as they win. At no point do they have a serious discussion about replacing Sarah with another VP, even if it costs them the election, because that's in the best interest of the country. Basically a lot of politicians talk about country first, but when push comes to shove they always justify putting their own self interest first. That's how the MAGA party took over the GOP.
McCain as his campaign saw her as a necessary evil to win the votes of the Hard Right and therefore win the election. They thought they could stick her on a shelf somewhere after they won and that using her would benefit the "greater good" of getting him elected and being able to set the agenda for legislature and domestic and foreign policy. Except it all blew up in their face. She didn't bring in enough votes to put them over and instead of being able to put her out of sight out of mind in a position with no real power they gave her and others like her a platform to spread their ignorance and hate like a cancer through the entire party. They tried to use grievance politics and ignorance to their advantage and it all blew up in their face and sewed the seeds for Trump and the nightmare we've been wrestling with over the last decade.
Don't under sell Gingrich and McConnell. The band of pirates that were W's administration still make my blood boil, mostly because they got away with so damn much.

It's not her ignorance that makes Sarah Palin such a hateful figure - plenty of politicians have taken office without complete knowledge of their office or world affairs and still done well. What's hateful about her is that she stubbornly refuses to improve herself or learn more about the broader world, or the people or the government she claims she's ready to lead. Instead she clings to her ignorance and tries to turn it into a badge of honor.
Another line in the movie sums it up best. It's not that she doesn't know the answer to the question, it's that she doesn't even understand what the question is or why it's important for her to know the question.

I mean she was the prequel to the sh*t show that is the American Republican party now. It’s sad.
And the fact yall have now Marjorie Taylor Greene. lol
Soo it was Palin who majorly contributed to the political blunder we’ve been experiencing lately???? 😂😂😂 “Saddam attack The US on 9/11”? I mean, even if it’s conspiracy theory since you’re running for office would’ve you atleast consider the vetting the information in first place?
It is still bonechilling to think this woman could’ve been one heart attack away from the Oval Office
Though to be fair, she sounds like a rocket scientist compared to Trump.
Stupid is as Stupid does
That was the beginning of the end for the GQP.
Looking back at the situation he found himself in, I can see why McCain thought she was a game,e worth taking. It just blew up in his face in away he wasn’t ready for. I think saying she was the start pf the current republicans party is giving her too much credit.
She was in over her head. They need to stop looking down on her. She needs a lot of briefing..
She was the precursor of the shit show to come with the GOP……”Am qualified because I can see Russia from me backyard” That joke right there was instrumental and one of the reasons that ticket lost even though she didn’t say it.
It’s nostalgic to think politics used to be about knowing things
in what respect, Charlie? hhahahaa
..and world peace.
epic times is the add playing for this... They are attempting to say apparently that the Jan 6th sedition act was not as it appears. I am sure he 6 dead would disagree.
How can any adult, much less any politician, not know what the fed is?
You don’t? A basic civics class would cover this.
@SN-sz7kw Wow, you respond to a 5 year old message and misunderstood it. You're a real winner....not
Walk around the U$A and survey that question sometime.
Then your next question will be: WTF???
Trump is as ignorant as this, or even worse, but just keeps steamrolling ahead with his word salads, the best word salads, word salads like nobody's ever seen. 🥗
And this is what 35 years of cuts to educational funding have gotten us. Thanks, Raygun. They sure do love the poorly educated. They’ve even said so and the rubes took it as a compliment.
She sounds like a feminine SNL version of a Christopher Walken impersonation
Yep, sounds about right😂😂😂
god Julianne Moore looked smoking hot as Sarah Palin!!!!!
You know when females with glasses on and brunettes are so attractive af 😅😂😂. I don’t even like Sarah Palin at all but omg Julianne More dressing up like her that’s amazingly good job.
I would have zero patience dealing with her.
if she was man she would've been president of the untied states.
Hmm, Dan Quayle didn't become president either.
@@flippert0 well trump did; is there any creature dumber? my little cousin reads better than him.
@@flippert0 trump did
This opened Nicole's eyes.
Prepping that dumb woman was a chore from hell.
May the odds be ever in your favor.
Palin was just the cork pop for today’s politics.
