  • Timeless vs trendy mens fashion and mens fashion trends 2024 have been a long going debate when it comes to menswear trends, as well as fashion and style as a whole! When it comes to timeless vs trendy mens fashion, many people tend to choose one or the other, and completely denounce the other side when it comes to the choice they make between mens fashion trends and menswear trends, which I personally feel (and a lot of other fashion creators feel too) is the wrong way to look at it.
In todays video we do a deep dive into timeless vs trendy mens fashion and menswear, as well as why it’s important to have a balance of both, the ratio at which I think a wardrobe should be when it comes to trendy mens fashion and timeless mens fashion, as well as how a garment becomes timeless, the criteria it requires, and the most recent timeless garments to date!
We also do a deep dive on WHY MENS FASHION TRENDS ARE GOOD for menswear and mens fashion, what they do for the menswear and mens fashion industry, and how they are absolutely NECESSARY in a menswear wardrobe whether or not it’s timeless or trendy. This is a discussion I see creators have, but very rarely do they ever speak on why and how timeless menswear and mens fashion garments become timeless, and what trendy mens fashion garments actually do for the mens fashion industry. Today, we talk about both!

As I’ve started to explore men’s fashion, I see more and more all the time that your point about how ‘timeless’ garments originally served some specific purpose is dead-on in virtually every case. Flight/bomber jackets were designed for actual pilots. Converse All Stars and Nike Jordans, two of the most enduringly popular streetwear shoes, were specifically intended to be basketball shoes. Polo shirts, cargo pants, sunglasses, watches, the list goes on. While I don’t adhere to it 100% (and probably nobody but the most minimal of hardcore minimalists really does LOL), it seems the old design adage “Form follows Function” is at the heart of what ascends to the condition of timelessness.
Love your insight and perspective, love your style, love the channel 🫡 thank you for your service, king 😌🙏🤝

I definitely agree with the “form follows function” sentiment that’s a great adage to live by! 😁 I always say that the best outfits in my opinion usually are the ones that serves the most utility! Thank you so much for the love and support my friend! 🔥🤙🏽

sweatpants and hoodies were invented by Le Coq Sportif in the 1920s. They're already timeless.

I feel you, though I was more referring to the new technology that enhances fabric for the new styles of athleisure, which on my end I should have specified more. I definitely appreciate that knowledge though thank you for that! 😁🔥🙏🏽

One of the problrms with trendy garments is men's pants and shoes are pretty dull. It's black, chino, or some sort of denim. That's it. If you look at men's formalwear pre WW2 it has this huge palette and that's formalwear. People practiced law in these outfits. If you look at the late 60's those outfits are wild (see Hendrix, Jimi) and they pull together. Whatever that rainbow thing was is a bit of a trainwreck. With a teal or muted red pant it would at least be a more interesting trainwreck. .

I can definitely agree with that, and to further on that point, I think that Men’s Wearhouse kind of fallen complacent with the current silhouettes that have existed for almost hundreds of years so to speak. I had someone on TikTok who said we’re basically just remixing already existing garments and calling them new. Its so true 😭🥺

As long as it's not made out of plastic, it will always be timeless!
