It`s been a while since I heard Sissel singing Pie Jesu, so thank you for doing this reaction, Didy. Love this one, love Sissel, especially all her songs together with The Tabernacle Choir. That is just heaven on earth to listen to. My favorite is "Slow Down". Try listening to that, without shedding a tear.. That is for me not possible. So glad I discovered Sissel a year ago. She deserves so much more credit. Hollywood has been known for not giving credit where credit is due. Few know that Marni Nixon was the singing voice of Natalie Wood in West Side Story, Deborah Kerr in The King and I, and Audrey Hepburn in My Fair Lady. It was written into their contracts not to disclose. Sissel is a class act that always acknowledges her band, orchestra and singers.
After her Titanic score work for Horner, the Americans knew she was a talent and offered her (it is reputed) an 18 million dollar contract. She got back on a plane and flew home to where her heart is without having to give it a second thought.. Her soul was not for sale. Also, Siss has done voice cover for some Disney movies released in Scandinavia. I admire her values.
Quite right to do what you can with your wonderful Norwegian singers. There may be more than you think with Sissel, although I have not marked her videos like Aurora and Angelina....an oversight to be sure...
"She lifts me up"... yes, she does, doesn't she. That's really the summation of her singing effect. Regarding your comment on Celine: She was to sing in our wee town and we all bought concert tickets for it. Hours before she cried off sighting serious illness but 12 hours later was singing down the road in another country. We were dumb-founded. I understand that Sissel has put in some special performances at concerts while clearly unwell (e.g. 'Wait A While' -captured on UA-cam)
