To those who also wondered how he did managed to complete challenge 15 with 14 portals: you must use only 3 portals in tunnel with moving platform. One on the wall close to entrance, second at first corner, third on second corner as far to the left as possible, and then you don't use any to get to the final room. You must jump straight through portal and aim yourself onto the edge of platform and you're in. Only that way you have two more portals to complete it with 14 in total.
Finally got 100% after 16 years of owning the game. I had some of the achievements from early on. The only remaining were the challenges in the advanced maps. Those were probably the most difficult. Least steps and minimum time were the hardest.
15:58 What? I have no idea what do do. You could have showed how to do it instead of say “use portals” Otherwise, good video. Edit: after looking up a guide I found it and I should have found it earlier, but still, footage of where the portals should be placed would have been nice.
On the last vanilla cake map, if you get to the second highest platfor, before the jump over, you can make a portal on the jump, and one on the second highest, and jump down to start, and then use the long fall down in the start of the lvl :)
Trying to get the radio in Chamber 6 gave me motion sickness, but if you place the portal correctly in the ceiling, you can actually grab it through the portal without dropping through it.
Btw for that dropping and catching the radio part in Transmission received you can glitch your portal into the corner of the actual laser machine thing and grab it through the portal
For me the radio at the start area has no light when i bring it to the button it doesnt play the morse code and then there is no radio at the chamber 01 how can i fix that

Hey i dont know if you still read these, but how do you not get extra steps when falling out of a portal? Idk if it was patched or something but u seem to travel whole chunks of the no steps challenge without adding any steps. For example: 25:20
So its similar to how you start each level off. So at 21:05 instead of putting a portal in front of you and jumping into it, you put a portal wherever you want to go and then one directly underneath you. That way you don't walk but you fall through the other side. Then once you're on the other side do the same thing as 21:05 where you shoot a portal onto the wall or ceiling to stop yourself from going back through it. If you do that it shouldn't add any steps.

In challenge map 16 least time I recommend to take down the turret at the button door as it shows and ignore those behind that u take down with each other 28:00 that is not necessary and It make it more easily saving us 3 seconds. Worked for me
bruh??? in the least portals for chamber 15 he doesn't even do it right in the video???? he takes 13 portals to get to the last room, then cuts to a different take where he has 2 portals left to spare????? how am I supposed to do it in 14 portals if he doesn't even do it in the version we see?
if no one's explained it, i can usually leave chambers with only 2 steps on PC (cheaper mechanical keyboard) by jumping normally as late as i can before the second step registers.
Just a note that on chamber 17 least portals, using your 2 portals to get into the secret area will grant you access to four cameras, which is much easier to climb up with

Challenge map 16 is brutal..... it says you get "52" seconds but 20 of them is GLADOS TALKING >:( Challenge map 18 is also giving me trouble on the time portion - I just can't react quick enough to get through it. Those are the last two things I need to gold... and I'll probably never do it *sigh*
welp sadly i have played portal before and never completed it so just started over again and for some reason it says i have 0/26 but when i go into chamber 00 it plays the music and there is the green light. then in the next one the radio isn't even there
Be sure to fully play through the game first and then do a second play through for the radios. On the first go through it won't let you actually activate them.

Very good, thanks - I've been meaning to complete Portal properly for years and now I am! On the 2nd radio in chamber 15, I actually got stuck in the area behind the sliding doors, and Glados let me out through a secret hatch!
You (Intro to Chamber 15 Steps): "I did it in 44, so you have a lot of wiggle room with this one." Me: "Don't look at me, I finished with exactly what was needed!" (And I was holding my breath as I stepped into the elevator!) Thanks a lot for the help. I might finally get those last three achievements! I did Chambers 13-15 tonight (steps and time), I might do 16, 17 and 18 tomorrow.
I really don't get it maybe i'm doing it wrong but in my case even drop from a portal counts me a step, best case i did 19 steps in the first advanced level. Seems pretty hard, I'm gonna try it harder but even at the start with the walk/jump, the slide of the land count me a 3rd step and impossible to drop trough the blue portal as you did. Anyway i'm very impressed and very thankfull for your video and guide. :)
For 2 People seeing this, You have to Complete the Game then come back to the start in order to do the radio achievement

In chamber 6 you can grab the radio through the portal instead of dropping and trying to grab it

If you get stuck you unlock hidden dialogue and it will open a escape hatch

At 5:13 you dont have too drop down if and catch it. You can reach it if you place the portal in the right spot.
I'm having trouble with the Cupcake achievement. I completed the first advanced map, but now the advanced option isn't showing up anymore.

You can croutch and get close to the portal and radio in Chamber 6. Takes out the chance and timing needed.

Be sure to beat the game once and then go back through for the radios. They won't be active until after you start your second playthrough

@9:00 - FYI - getting back out before the doors close in not necessary because the game opens a trap door for you, if you get stuck in the room.
When you make a tutorial, you shouldn't... you know.... cut steps out?
