I agree. It must be weird for Mara Rooney to watch clips like this when she was younger interacting with Robin Williams dressed up as a woman. From what I have heard based on interviews both of the (then) children were very fond of Robin who treated them like one of his own.
Growing up I was CONVINCED they hired an elderly actress to portray him as Mrs. Doubtfire. Imagine my surprise and awe at finding out it was Robin Williams the whole way through.
Nah they added some silicone stuff on his head and covered it entirely before fhe 'perm blush and glasses' search up the makeup video. Not as easy as u think
It's a lot more than a perm and blush. None of his face is original aside from his eyes and lips. It's all silicone foam, takes 4 hours in the makeup chair to do. And it's Robin's acting that sells it more than anything.
I agree - it’s so weird watching his movies and and thinking he is already dead. So much talent - I was hoping in seeing him in so many more movies to come.
He ended his life because he was suffering from a debilitating and progressive illness called Lewy body dementia for which there's no cure. It doesn't matter how much someone is loved or admired, it's not enough to stop them taking their own life. Robin Williams couldn't cope with living within a disabled body and is now a free spirit.
11:37 Mara Wilson (The little girl) actually wrote in her autobiography about how she rewatched this video years later and was embarrassed by how long she took to tell the story and how poor Robin had to intently listen to her story that showed no sign of ending any time soon XD
She also mentioned that the copy she'd watched had been taken down; after reading her book recently, it was a nice surprise when I realized I was seeing the video she'd mentioned.
That mastery of vocal and accent work is amazing. He was able to mix tiny lingual variations like painters mix pigments for precise, beautiful results.
He actually studied drama at Juliard. He started out as a series stage actor. Comedy just came naturally to him and that's the path he went down at first.
"Not like the last group I was with, the daycare center for the damned." LOL It's been a looong time since I've laughed out loud this many times, but Robin Williams did it here. What an amazing talent, gone too soon.
I was on lunch break and saw a post on Facebook, instantly thinking it was one of those stupid celebrity death hoaxes. My brother texted to tell me it wasn’t a hoax, I spent the rest of my lunch break in tears.
Out of all the major celebrity deaths that have ever happened Robin's passing was the only celebrity death I actually shed tears over. This movie was like I tried to put myself as a small kid into this movie hoping that my dad would love me enough to want to dress up disguised as an old nanny to spend time with me after the divorce of my parents but my dad wouldn't even try to see me dressed as himself. Only by court order was he forced to. I always wished Robin was my real father in real life especially how he was a true father to the teen son in this film. I just wanted my dad to accept me as his son. But he never did.
Robin Williams actually had to rein it in to play the genteel Mrs. Doubtfire. He will always be remembered for the way he made us all believe that he was an old lady.
the persons who did Robin's Makeup did a truly fabulous job, and then Robin adding the voice and personality, and mannerisms WOW! made me wish Mrs. Doubtfire could be my house keeper. miss Robin so much, he truly was ingenious at comedy, and a legend in his own time
Robin could always make anyone laugh no matter what! He had a wonderful gift and always wanted to make others happy despite his own problems. He always put the joy of others before his own. He was just a wonderful person and he is missed dearly. R.I.P., Robin! Your legacy lives on forever!
I wish Robin Williams was alive today to see just how talented he was & how much he is missed by the millions who loved him. RIP Mr Williams, you are irreplacable for sure.
Ever since I saw the Dr.Who episode where they take Vincent Van Gogh in the future to a museum filled with his paintings I been thinking about how other people would react if we could bring them back for a moment and show them their legacy. Can you imagine taking Kurt Cobain from a day before his suicide and bring him in 2019 and turning on the radio and it's Smell like teen spirits playing?
For goodness sake. Robin Williams didn't take his life because he was depressed. He was suffering from a debilitating and progressive illness called Lewy body dementia for which there is no cure. He couldn't and didn't want to live trapped in a disabled body. He knew he was loved.
Robin Williams: The world sure misses you. Mara Wilson: The little girl I wanted to adopt. Sally Field: So lovely, wanted to look just like you. Thanks for sharing such wonderful memories!
When Robin was in character he WAS that character. There was no checkpoint or transition between himself in real life and the characters he played. That is an extremely rare talent in itself, one I fear will never be properly replicated in my lifetime.
I didn't even realize this was Robin Williams until 3:35. I thought this was screen tests for other potential actors for the role. Robin and the makeup artist were incredible.
I was smiling, giggling and suppressing bombastic fits of laughter the whole time when he was alone for the initial number of takes. He was such a natural with the children and with Sally. Man, he made me happy. I miss you, Robin.
Robin was a treasure. I remember how I felt the day we lost him. Truly devesated. The man was such a massive part of my childhood and a lot of my adulthood.
99% of us never knew him personally or even met the man face to face…yet a large portion of us feels legitimate grief of his passing. When you can impact people so deeply without ever interacting with them in the present, you have become a master of your craft, the highest level one could reach and most never come close too.
I'm pretty sure he's the only human on this planet I've never known but still shed a tear when I saw that in the news. I didn't even cry when my grandpa died...or Betty White lol
I lived in San Francisco from 1993 until 2010. I worked for a family that lived across the street from Robin Williams' home in Seacliff He had just moved in there recently, and he had a giant wire topiary frame almost 25' tall of a T Rex dinosaur installed in his side yard, just waiting for the gardener to add the greenery. On Halloween, he passed out toothbrushes instead of candy, and the kids were bummed... I entered a bookstore on Fillmore Street one late afternoon and realized Robin had walked in quickly ahead of me, his head down and his hands in his pockets. He spoke very softly to the cashier. He had a book on order. Complete opposite of his public persona. But it wasn't so much because he was trying to go unnoticed; he was just low-key when "off-duty"... To prove that -- one of the best stories I had read about him in the local Nob Hill Gazette was when he and his wife Marsha were coming out of a movie theater one evening, and they were approached by a guy who just wanted to express his admiration for Robin's work. Robin and Marsha were heading off to dinner at a restaurant just down the street, and they invited the guy to join them, which he did. Dream come true for that guy! But that's who Robin was: gracious and kind I was a nanny back then, and one of the boys was a classmate of Robin's son, Zach Robin Williams was "just one of the locals" to us (when he was around!), and we loved him. He was "ours" Sorry this is so long, but I'm glad I could post this and tell people he was the real deal My friend's husband was the fire chief who responded to the call to Robin's house in Tiburon when he died. I cried for days... I still miss him

What a wonderful talent Robin Williams was. One in a million. I cannot understand why he was never nominated for an Oscar for this role. He won the Golden Globe that year but alas the academy didn’t recognise his genius n talent. What a shame! He was far better than Dustin Hoffman in Tootsi, who was nominated.

Mr. Williams is amazing, but nobody mentions the make up. My gosh it's flawless, I can't see where his face begins and ends in it. Kudos to the make up department. Would that be special effects department or make up?
Even in the screen tests Robin is giving the writers ideas for whats funny
Can you imagine any other actor playing Mrs. doubtfire but Robin Williams. This shows you what a genius he is!
