Spur of the moment road trip to a ghost town on my 2022 Honda Ruckus. 170 miles, 7 hours, 3 tanks of gas, some near misses and bad decisions. #hondaruckus #ghosttown
Avid motorcyclist, here. I have a Suzuki V-Strom 1050XT and a KLR650. Just got The Wife a Ruckus to tool around town on. Well, I can't resist the little thing. Amazing! Hate to admit it, but I seem to ride the Ruck more than the other bikes. There's just something about seeing the world @ 30 mph. I think it would be interesting to follow a bicycle route across country on a scooter. One thing for sure, it would be more economical to ride a 100 mpg scooter than riding a bicycle.
Ghost town is amazing, you'd never see that in the UK, those places would've been ransacked years ago, graffiti on the walls, broken glass, too many people over here do not respect historical artifacts or others property, plus our country is soo small and overpopulated, there is no space to have towns abandoned and not being repurposed, I hear what you say about bypass taking away the trade, but really we've got everything soo close together, nothing is out of the way... only private land you never get to see, love it, thanks..
could be a nice tourist location if they operated during the better weather months. thanks for sharing and i hope you did make it back before dark. You know how moms are when you're not home before dark. take care are and have a great weekend
Very cool, admire your sense of adventure. There is nothing quite like a big trip on small bike. I've ridden the Grom on road trips and had myself convinced I wouldn't take anything slower...but you inspire me to rethink it... Its still faster than a bicycle. All about mindset. I'd love to see you take it to the Keys. I'd love to do that myself.
@@Dondular I hope you go, would love to see it, what an adventure. I assume you've seen the vids of the guy who went to Key west and then Prudhoe Bay then Baja? Something like 80k on his Ruckus. Ive been flowing your Grom content. It's a cool bike isn't it? I like it but only on shorter trips, on longer multi day trips ergonomically it's just doesn't fit me well but love the motor and 5 spd.
Great ride Don. We did a trip in waterton national park, to red canyon and Cameron lake, on the ruckus. Zuma and grom…. Dog in the backpack. Good family trip…. Only about 40km each way….. mountain and twistie.
That looks like the best preserved ghost town I've seen. The general store and post office look like they just stepped away. Thank you for including the history and sharing the adventure.
Thanks for the ride and the commentary. In Washington, I can't take my Ruckus on a road where the speed limit exceeds the top speed on the speedometer. Apparently Texas doesn't have that limitation?
I just found your channel, I see you’re on a ruckus , but other videos are different bikes. What scooters do you have. The wife and I have 2 Yahama zumas 49cc with almost 10 thousand miles each, we ride a lot so when I saw your video I was hooked.
The main content of this channel is for the Ruckus, Grom, and Monkey but you might also see a Harley Softail (which has its own channel) or Kawasaki Vulcan 900.
@@Dondular I like the idea of small quick trips on scooters, we’ve talked friends into getting zumas and do day trips of maybe 130 miles round trip. Have you found a good app for mapping trips that keep you on roads under 55 mph? Slower roads are safer and better views in my mind.
Just Google maps. A lot of traffic around here. State highways with wide shoulders and city streets are where I’m most comfortable. Mostly I try to avoid hill country.
Cool. So how are you controlling the camera angles ? That is pretty trick. What camera equipment are you using ? We have two Ruckus. The longest ride for us was about 140 miles 👍
I have fond memories going 235 miles round trip on my Yamaha Zumba 50, it was a total blast.

There’s nothing better than a Ruckus in city traffic. 170 miles was fun but I really pushed it that day. Would be better at a more relaxed pace.
Yes… owned many bikes but this little ruckus is the most fun!
@@jefflilly5819I bought the KLR and Ruckus the same day. They each have the same amount of miles 😂
As great as your rides always are, Don.. the history lesson is fantastic!
Thank you! I appreciate this comment. I love history.

I’ve been to England and Ireland and I think they’re beautiful. You can get lost in America, though, and that’s pretty nice too.

Pretty neat old town but a long ride on the Ruckus thanks for sharing your trip
Great adventure! Thanks for bringing us along.🤘🏽🔥🔥🔥

Appreciate it. The Keys are definitely a bucket list item. I have a Grom myself and love it.

Road trip on a ruckus sounds like it will be an awesome adventure! Wish I can join you on my Trail 125 😃
Loved it man. Get an idea, make time and just do it.
Wowiewow!!!! Niiiice long long -long ride.

We do have some roads with a posted minimum above the Ruckus’ top end speed but other than that I can take it anywhere.
Not going to lie..when the camera swings around its kinda weird..but cool...nice trip
Thanks. Gotta do my best with the video footage I get and I appreciate the comment.

On my bucket list.
Is your Ruckus fully stock? What is your top speed and what grade of gas you use?
Yes, 40ish, premium.
How many cc’s is your Rukus?
Stock 49cc
FOUND it on Google Earth!
Now I’m going to have to hide it somewhere else. 🤣
