Iv been thinking of getting a C02 laser cutter, I'm in the UK and after just watching about the secondary earth would it earth properly by making an earth cable and using the earth pin in a plug and using the wall socket for to earth it as there won't be a live or neutral cable wired in in that particular extension? Plus do these cut through metal?
I do not think they will cut any metal, they might be able etch metal with the right preparation beforehand, they will just reflect back like Roger mentions with the Aluminium base plate, They can only cut around 1/4 inch, or about 6.5mm of wood, leather cardboard and acrylic. Think this model can only cut 300x200mm as well.
Hi Roger, thank you. Another great teaching experience video. On earthing, what do you recommend for your primary earthing connection where the frame of the laser unit is constructed entirely from 80/20 aluminum? Kind regards Gavin
It bothers me that Chinese manufactures use a CE symbol that looks enough like the European conformity symbol that some people think it meets the CE safety standards.
That is 'China Export' they purposely make it look like the European symbol so people think it meets the safety requirements. As you can see from the video, it definitely DOES NOT meet those requirements, hence his modifications to make it safe.
@@rogerwebb9600 , sorry but logo displayed on the machine is the official ‘Conformité Européenne’ logo. The C and E in Chinese Export logo are a lot closer together. However, in this particular case it clearly is a fake CE certification as is obvious in all the issues.
More great info. Even though mine has been in use by the previous owner, I'll check that ground. :)
A other great series of videos
Your on 🔥 at the moment think I will enjoy this as much as the last self build CNC machine well done sir
My ground is isolated from the case with plastic or nylon washers... do I remove and sand paint off and install without the plastic washers?

CE does not stand for China Export. But it a certificate for products in Europe.
