    Adam Lambert has been wildly successful as a solo artist AND has fronted one of the most iconic bands of all time... Stepping into the biggest shoes ever... and NAILING IT!
    As singers, we can learn a lot from Adam. His showmanship is impeccable, but when you dig specifically into his singing, you hear clever and intentional restraint, a beautifully dialed in mixed voice and subtle use of compression and placement to make up one of the most beautiful, yet accessible singing approaches out there today!
    Let's be inspired, try some things with our own voices and see what happens!! You'll probably learn some great vocal licks for your bag of tricks!

    hey dude, just wanted to drop in and post this to the public. I'm on week 5/6 of the discover your voice course. I have never had so much fun in correcting all my bad habits. I've sang for over 10 years as a pro musician on the gigging scene. I own Ken Tamplins course, don't get me wrong I love ken, he's a lovely guy and an amazingly talented vocalist/ teacher and I have learnt many, many things from him, but, the way that you teach Chris, reaches me and clicks in my brain. Since the lesson of removing tension I have removed a decades worth of neck strain in one 20 minute video haha, it's honestly a surreal experience for me, I sing stuff from Johnny Cash to AC DC, I have never gone easy on my voice ha, and your course is allowing me to honestly sing however I feel like when I wake up haha. For anyone reading this considering Chris's course, I can't recommend it highly enough. Cheers Chris :)

      @@MultiEMitchell If you're talking to me, yes, I checked David years ago, but I think Adam is a genre-wise universal performer, because he sings fantastic rock, pop, funk, soul, blues, jazz, Broadway, reggae, country, disco, dance, house, gospel, EDM ... and even Christmas Carols. As a teenager he was trained for 1 year in opera singing. Also Lambert's vocal range is greater. Live he's absolutely amazing, because hits these 5ve octave notes in chest or mixed voice with ease! Most male singers can't drag pure chest past the upper 4th octave

    Oh wow. I'm trying really hard not to make comparisons between you and another very popular singing coach on youtube (one that has been mentioned here already...) You are SO. MUCH. BETTER. And I'm compelled to say this because the other one just bothers me a lot. The way you express the processes of Adam's body, like him "allowing the notes to come" makes so much sense to me. The language you use is very easy to internalize into body awareness! Plus there's no arrogance or an endless desire to prove you're better than the other coaches. Refreshing.

    I love the way you broke down some bits of Adam Lambert's technique and demonstrated what&how he is doing it, I know you can't fit everything into one video, but maybe the next time you can also comment on his extraordinary breathing - which is really essential for singers and which is like the basis for other technical stuff. And Adam Lambert is the perfect example of how he uses breath to support his powerful voice and reach all those high notes with resonance and being able to sing long phrases (even over 20 sec). I think he is the best male vocalist I've ever heard, and I really enjoyed your video, thanks!

    Sir, you really need to read this. I LITERALLY search "how to sing like Adam lambert" because I'm a big fan of him and I also love singing, and I want to be better. So this video is on the top so I click on it. The thing that surprise me is... you're actually can sing exactly like him and your voice is pretty high and powerful compared to when you're speaking, like this is the closest thing to Adam lambert's voice I've ever seen so far. That mean you're teaching a real thing and you can clearly proof it. Even though I know his voice is higher than average male, but you helped me alot. I'm subscribing form now on, good work!!! 👍

    You should do a video like this about Alex Newell. His voice seems so unique, I'm pretty sure he's considered a male soprano. His range is insane and he seems to be comfortable singing in nearly any part of it. The sheer power behind his voice is incredible. Also just the energy he puts into most of his performances is amazing, he's really animated and fun to watch; especially in his performances of Mama Will Pride (which he sung on broadway. Either the music video one and the Tony performance would do, but I'd recommend the Tony performance since he threw in a Bb6 whistle tone in that one. But they're both worth watching), Poor Unfortunate Souls (not his most vocally impressive performance but his sheer stage presence in that one is absolutely breathtaking, especially in the one he did in the Disney virtual pride concert thing),
    Some of his other performances that are really worth checking out are his performances of I Am Changing (particularly the one on The Cabaret), I Know Where I've Been (honestly any of his performances of this song would do, they're all amazing), and there's probably a few other ones that I can't think of right now.
    You don't even have to react to all of these, but Alex is just really worth at least checking out.

    Hello Chris! Watching your channel lately really helped me start learning how to sing. All of those tips you give in your vids were really useful. I just have a question, as a started moving to the notes higher up in my range I noticed that no matter how hard I try they seem to come out more as a loud wheeze, like "I've lost my voice" type sound. I couldn't have damaged it, I didn't attempt anything hard at this point. I presume it's something that I can get rid off with practice, but I still have doubts, could it be some kind of an issue with my vocal chords? Hope this makes sence. Thx in advance!

    • @chrisliepe

    Do you relax your solar plexus and let it get caught up by the pressure in your body so it kicks outward when you produce notes??
    I know that’s a pretty specific question but I’m testing a theory. 🙃

    • @chrisliepe
      @chrisliepe  3 роки тому +1

      The solar plexus should be as relaxed as it can be with the poop muscles engaged and should not be the focus of 'push' or energy. What's your theory?

    • @petersoar2886
      @petersoar2886 3 роки тому

      @@chrisliepe my theory is that relaxing the solar plexus means that your body has to get push from elsewhere, namely the poop muscles, as you say. Also, that this tip has been hiding in plain sight from me for years because a bunch of vocal coaches have been saying it and I somehow missed it. Tensing up my solar plexus has messed me up for yearssss. It’s like it’s joined directly to the throat and so causes my throat to tense if I tense it. weird.
      Just yours move outwards when you sing, just as a result of it being relaxed and getting pushed by pressure elsewhere in your body?

    Can you do Brian Aubert from Silversun Pickups? He has an extremely melodic and clean sounding fry scream that I would love to get tips on nailing.
    (I noticed he steps towards the microphone when adding aggression which was an epiphany back in the day when I first started out, I realized it's an indicator of great technique!)
    Take a look at Kissing Families live on Carson Daly and Panic Switch live on David Letterman for the sound I'm looking for
    Most vocal instructors online just seem to lump it into "singing with fry" and then assume that's all you need, not very helpful!

    • @chrisliepe
      @chrisliepe  3 роки тому

      Sounds like you need to spend more time feeling your pure head voice. Get that coordination and be comfortable singing cleanly across the whole spectrum first... before you start adding more air. Your cords are not handling the air you're giving them when you're inching higher... so they disengage... turning it into fry. Have you joined my free course yet?

    You want to discredit Adam Lambert at all costs. If you're so good, why don't you sing with Queen and why don't you have solo albums and full houses like Adam Lambert. Studio recordings are amplified, but Adam Lambert often sang a cappella and was fantastic, just like on the records, without any tricks. You howl on You Tube, but I think you know that it's not enough to make a career. You have to have personality and something. You're not Adam Lambert, so you won't sing like him. Adam Lambert is ONE.

    • @chrisliepe
      @chrisliepe  5 місяців тому

      I'm not discrediting Adam Lambert, I really like his voice and love learning from singers that are way better than me... And Adam is certainly one of those singers. I fully realize I'm not Adam Lambert. I greatly enjoy trying things out with my own voice while being inspired by singers I respect. I get ideas, I improve and I help others do the same. You sound unhappy and defensive in your comment. If you're not here to learn with me, please just move on.
