I grew up Mormon and I have some info/experiences. The way you reach the Celestial Kingdom in modern times is to get baptized, and “make and keep sacred covenants” to God in the Temple. Once your temple work is complete, you do your best to live your life as a kind and loving person. There are some blessings/prayers etc that take place after death but they’re nothing crazy. I’m not saying there aren’t issues in the church, I literally left it because it felt like there was no place for me there. And in my experience they DO exert a bit of control over you growing up. When I was younger my plan was to go to a Mormon college simply for the sake of meeting a man who I would marry and have children with. You’re discouraged from having non-member friends unless you’re actively trying to convert them. At one point I was at church 6 days a week, 7 if there was an activity on Saturday(I attended seminary before school each morning and church on Sundays lasted 3 hours at the time so it was literally 8 hours a week at church MINIMUM). You can’t date until 16, and when you do you can only hold hands and MAYBE share a chaste kiss. You are not allowed to be alone together. I didn’t try coffee until I was in high school. the church was EVERYTHING in my life. That’s why it’s unsurprising that so many cults stem off of it, because the control is already THERE. The programming is already there. All they have to do is pretend to be the next Joseph Smith. Also it’s unlikely this comment will get any attention but if you made it this far and are curious about certain aspects of the church, I am more than happy to share! I may not subscribe to the religion anymore but it is objectively very interesting, so please ask! Fair warning: I will not be going into detail about parts of the temple. It’s considered very sacred to them, and I would like to show basic decency and respect the parts that they are not supposed to talk about(if you’re REALLY curious, you are welcome to look it up, just make sure to read real accounts of ex-mormons. and make sure you read more than one or two, bc i have experienced how angry you get after leaving the church first-hand and it does lead to bias). I can absolutely share my temple experiences with baptism for the dead though!
Dude. This comment is awesome I’m literally pinning it rn because I SINCERELY APPRECIATE THE TIME YOU TOOK TO WRITE THIS ALL OUT!! I still have what I feel to be a pretty surface lvl understanding of Mormonism & I’ve been reading up on it for a year so far. Thank you for explaining how mainstream Mormons reach celestial lvl because it didn’t even occur to me to look that up; all I knew was that the lvls still exist but plural marriage has been removed! I really hope ppl do use this comment as an opportunity to ask you questions & learn (within the realm of respect) From what ik the temple is really v sacred. I have several active & ex-Mormon friends who have each shared pieces of it with me or chosen not to.
@@DaisyFoko Thank you! I really didn’t expect anyone to read/respond to this, but I really appreciate it! I think what people forget is that there’s a certain level of naivety in the church, and if you’re in deep enough, it would be EASY to get pulled into a cult based off of it. Since it was such a big part of my life for so long, I have a lot of information about it but I also have respect for the religion, because ultimately, in my experience, this church really is full of kind-hearted people. My mother managed to get me to sing with her in church on Easter sunday, which gave me a panic attack because I haven’t been to the church while it’s in session in YEARS. I was feeling awful about being there, like everyone was judging me because I was wearing slacks instead of a dress, or I haven’t been there, or whatever. When I tell you that my phone has gotten BLOWN UP by people expressing how grateful they were for me sharing my singing voice, and how they felt the spirit(which is what they call the Holy Ghost, who is a separate entity from both Jesus and God)and just generally being very lovely? I’ve lost count of how many people, whose contact info I DONT EVEN HAVE, have reached out to me. That kind of perspective makes stories like this even more sad, because most of them truly are just trying to do what’s right, and corrupted people will always take advantage of innocence.
Boy oh boy where do I even begin. Lebron… honey, my pookie bear. I have loved you ever since I first laid eyes on you. The way you drive into the paint and strike fear into your enemies eyes. Your silky smooth touch around the rim, and that gorgeous jumpshot. I would do anything for you. I wish it were possible to freeze time so I would never have to watch you retire. You had a rough childhood, but you never gave up hope. You are even amazing off the court, you're a great husband and father, sometimes I even call you dad. I forvever dread and weep, thinking of the day you will one day retire. I would sacrifice my own life it were the only thing that could put a smile on your beautiful face. You have given me so much joy, and heartbreak over the years. I remember when you first left clevenland and its like my heart got broken into a million pieces. But a tear still fell from my right eye when I watched you win your first ring in miami, because deep down, my glorious king deserved it. I just wanted you to return home. Then allas, you did, my sweet baby boy came home and I rejoiced. 2015 was a hard year for us baby, but in 2016 you made history happen. You came back from 3-1 and I couldn't believe it. I was crying, bawling even, and I heard my glorious king exclaim these words, "CLEVELAND, THIS IS FOR YOU!" Not only have you changed the game of basketball and the world forever, but you've eternally changed my world. And now you're getting older, but still the goat, my goat. I love you pookie bear, my glorious king, Lebron James. 🥰❤️🫶🏽
