(Sorry if this was too long) While I'm still young, I live in a small town that I really hate, it's in arctic Norway and you'd probably think that it's a great place, but I would only say that is the case of just visiting (just for the nature), not living here.
Technically speaking it is not great, the infrastructure is horrible. Winter lasts half a year, almost no sunlight for half the year.
Roads are not maintained well, they are narrow and the tunnels are in a horrible state. No trains further north, and you actually need to get on a ferry to get to the other half of northern Norway. If a single road closes, which does happen sometimes, landslides and "avalanches" in a way - it takes a whole other route through Sweden to get further north.
There isn't much opportunities in the north, people usually move south to study and stuff. The nearest proper city (what people from actual cities call a town) from where I am is 10 hours of driving away. You know I just feel so isolated here. In Norway, at least in the north, it is difficult to get new friends, and my town has almost knowingly removed a lot of places where the youth could thrive, they don't have a place to go.
All the people I talk about this with, either denies it being that bad, or just says what's to do about it, in a naysayers way.
I know for a fact that southern Norway will be better, if maybe not so much of technically better, it would still be better to just live my own life and try to chase the dream and have kinda of a maximalistic view of things. Live life as good as possible, the image and dream of something better is often just what you need, it is motivation and as long as you think, it will be great.
The worst part is that my town is one of the European capitals of culture this year, and that just reinforces those that say it isn't that bad here, bunch of crap that the politicians randomly got into action. I know for a fact it isn't as big as it makes it out to be here. All the people here thinks it is such a big thing everyone outside of Norway also knows about.
I feel so alone in the thought that this place isn't good enough, you know, something I like to say is that I'm NOT a pessimist, I'm just such an optimist that this place isn't good enough.
Great video btw, got me thinking more about these things, important things such as quality of life you know.

Been outta my hometown since 3 months old. Moved 18 times, lived in 13 different countries across 3 continents.
I agree with your outlook on things, but it also sounds like you’ve remained in the US..
Until you live on the other side of the world, I don’t think you truly understand the concept you’re preaching. So take your own advice, and actually move to a different country, not state!

Why would you want to stay in your hometown? The possibilities are literally endless in how you can travel to places.

@@AlbertDunisch Everything you aren't doing by staying in the same boring place forever. Having a fresh new start, having brand new experiences and bringing in stimulating new energy which helps you grow as a person instead of the same old bullshit that never changes by being in your hometown all your life.
