This is by the Leifiifi High School. When I was in Leifiifi in 73 / 74 it was an intermediate school then, but when I went back in 2003 it is now a High School. My dance group dance to three of their songs. This is one of the many ways in which some of our old music is preserved, by the efforts of the great educators we have who are aware of the deterioration of music and values in our young people and these songs are thus preserved longer through their collective efforts ...malo Aveatu
Just the way they sing, and harmonize, the men and women and the way their voices blend together fascinates me! Is this way of singing called something in Samoa? Is there a certain term for this old style of singing? I'm fascinated by Samoan culture, obviously cuz I'm Hawaiian I love my culture too, but Samoan culture, Ali'is, Malietoa, Matai, Ava Circle, all the aspects of Samoan culture always interested me. Fa'afetai tele lava. Malie le aufaipese ma le pese! (Hope I said it right, hahaha)
There's something about the way the old polynesian way of singing is, especially samoan, that is so unique. When the men and women sing together, the men sound so deep and the women so powerful. Especially when the old samoan chants are sung.
ok i used to be a leififi student but not close to the avele choir, avele is the best thanks to aiga poasa the principal whos running the school and,and make sure that all her student graduate.malo lava cuz from sia

Really appreciate you putting this on. The more these old songs are heard the more they will be appreciated. Your a legend.
Its a powerful sound and I just appreciated all the singers' effort of keeping Samoan music alive and well in this form....God Bless!

Epic. The core of the Cradle (Savai'i/Upolu) and Heart (Tutuila/Manu'a) of Polynesia. That is Samoana.
Martin, I'm glad, love the Hawaiian culture as well, and I'm samoan at that.
