I lived in Calgary 15 years from 1990 to 2005, moved down to Richmond,BC, simply because “ enough is enough”. Definitely I could not move back to Calgary due to aging, hard to deal with such extreme cold weather. However, summer is absolutely beautiful and enjoyable in Calgary. I missed the good old days.

The ➖ 42 degrees lasted les than a week,that with windchill. We have lots of sunny days and very little snow . Sunny days 300 a year brightens up my day.

Flew back to Calgary on the plane still no heat. Got back to our little apt on 20th and 4th st Mother in law behind closed door to kitchen and guest room with the oven on for heat. The floors at the front of our flat were covered with ice. As I thought about this while watching your video , I kept thinking " that's Calgary .... life goes on.".. lol

I have lived in calgary for 20 years now and its very true, life just goes on. We might moan that it's cold today but we carry on as normal. The school kids ( ftom 5yrs up) have to play outside in the yard at recess unless it gets below minus 20 celsius, any colder than minus 20c and they are allowed to stay inside. 😆

The cons can’t be fixed for Calgary weather are the outdoor dryness and windchill (75% 15-30km/hr, feels like sprinting when walking, feels like biking when jogging, feels like driving when biking) and the super hard drinking water. If you can physically overcome all the above in daily routine, it is a really nice place to live

A LOT of the US is currently seeing unbelievably low temperatures but the problem is that neither these cities nor the people in them are used to dealing with arctic weather… Oh and this isn’t proof global warming isn’t happening. We are experiencing an imbalance in our weather system. The hotter it gets the more extreme the weather we will see. This includes frigid colds as the planet tries to rebalance herself and all of her systems. What I’m most afraid of is when the Gulf Stream shuts down. That will be a bad day for everyone.

@@riccadavid9697 no single jacket will ever be enough when that cold. Best to have many layers. A couple of wool layers and sweaters, and then a good winter jacket on top. Plus a hat, scarf, and gloves. That will normally be enough for these temps.

Every winter but these extreme cold spells are broken by Chinook s, warm winds that can raise the temperature by 35 degrees in a few hours.
