Nice . The worth is in the memories . And those can be priceless . I remember the old old days when my pal was a DJ , we carried around heavy box loads of the LPs .😀😀 . As one of your subs sugested , the sleeves should be gotten rid of . Moisture ? Static ? Some classic songs and performers . Some of my faves who i still listern to. Del Shannons Runaway was used in the crime drama Crime Story . Thanks to your mom, you for the show and tell .
Nice posting. Great assortment of 78's.. That autographed Everly Brother booklet may be worth some money, since Don and Phil have now passed away.. Everlys had several double-sided hits like the Beatles. Bird Dog/Devoted to You is from 1958; it was preceded by All I Have to Do/Claudette. Canadian Paul Anka with a UK # 3 hit in 1958. Elvis -- A Fool Such as I was the A-side, # 1 in UK, 1958. Your mum must have been a big Everlys and Elvis fan. Cliff Richard debut hit; he didn't gain a foothold in the US until the 1970's. Marty Wilde was strictly a UK star, covering Richie Valens' Donna from 1959. Value of the 78's would be based on their condition. No cracks, no chips, no warping. In their original sleeves is a plus. I suggest you store the Elvis photo with the Elvis lp. German songwrter/band leader -- Swinin Safari was one of his many hits, 1962. Not so fast with the Chris Barber/Acker Bilk lp; they both were responsible for the popular trad jazz movement in the UK Richard Anthony was an Egyptian-born French singer. His music director, Ivor Raymonde, also worked with Dusty Springfield and Susan Maughan.
Thanks so much for all that detailed information. I asked my mum about when she met the Everly Brothers. It was at the stage door at the Plymouth Pavillions. She was with her childhood friend, also a big fan. She said Phil gave her a kiss on the cheek 🙂
Gosh, I still have most of those LPs in my collection, I must be the same age as your Mum (75) Don't knock chris Barber and Acker Bilk - great jazz in their time😊.
I was going to comment the same thing. Here is a really good video that explains exactly why. (It is a highly recommended channel). Thank you for sharing! ua-cam.com/video/P_z5oa24cd4/v-deo.html
Hi 👋 How wonderful that you have your mother's music items. That Everly Brothers book is in very good condition, and with a signature by one of them in it makes it of value to a collector
@@JulesBurt Wow , that's cool that she met them. I'm old enough to remember their songs on the radio. My mother liked them too. I have 2 cds of their music.
Hi - nice collection, but I would take all those plastic sleeves and throw them away. They will ruin the sleeves and records as the plastic bleeds onto the cover and eventually onto the records. You can replace them with low cost lighter sleeves from Amazon etc.
Great vid Jules. Always like looking at people's record collections. The Shadows were my grandad's favourite band. God knows how many people must have bought the Dr Zhivago soundtrack. I see it in every other charity shop I go in !
Are those PVC covers the same ones they put picture vinyl albums into? I have begun putting the picture records into soft rice paper sleeves from Vinyl Styl, which are just like the MoFi ones...
Oooh if you didn't live on the other side of the world, I would beg you to ask your Mum if she would sell me that Debbie Reynolds 45 "Tammy". I loved that when I was a kid and too young to buy records❤❤ . Freddy Cannon..you should play that, it was a huge hit, fantastic beat. Some great records there, would certainly bring some cash in for your Mum.
@@JulesBurt I am in Australia Jules. I was only joking when I offered to buy your Mum's record! I wouldn't be parting with any of her collection if I was you🙂
The Classical recording of John Ogden might be worth something as he was a very talented British Pianist - who I believe suffered with his mental health - but was extremely gifted. In 1962 (mentioned on one of my Classical CD Notes) he won alongside Ashkenazy the Moscow Tchaikovsky Piano Competition
@@JulesBurt can't post link or image here - but have to your twitter account post on this video (as a reply) - PS the site mentioned has a search function that might help you too!
The reason these record outer covers look wrinkled is because they are PVC which in time sweats under heat and can actually do damage to the records this is why he had trouble getting some of them Eps out.
Richard Anthony was a very popular French singer in the sixties and early seventies. Great voice. Never knew that he sold in the UK. Same for Sacha Distel, a golden voice, a shiny smile, a very handsome guy. I kind of remember that he had a short affair with Brigitte Bardot.
I can assure you they did..I ran a secondhand record store from 1992.to 2002 and we had these from when we opened, in fact many years before that..Just look in an old issue of record collector magazine, the company selling them was called Covers 33

Thanks Sylvan! Great memories here. Mum's not seen it yet but I'm sure she'll enjoy looking through them after all these years🙂
those are jewels buddy !keep them ! your mum had a great taste in music love all of them.
I definitely will, glad you enjoyed the look through🙂👍
Fun collection. I especially like how your mom decorated the some of the sleeves. Thanks!
Indeed, she was very creative🙂
"Bird Dog" was the "A" side of the 78. It was the first rock and roll record I can recall hearing on a juke box in a diner in the late 1950s!
Awesome Tom, thanks for that memory🙂

Yes, Mum is 79🙂
Interesting that they were still releasing on shellacs in '58 when vinyl had been around for almost a decade at that point.
True, who knows why?
Get rid of those PVC record covers. They can damage the vinyl as well as the covers.
Will do, they have not aged very well 👍

Hi 👋 How wonderful that you have your mother's music items. That Everly Brothers book is in very good condition, and with a signature by one of them in it makes it of value to a collector
I asked her about it recently and she said they waited by the stage door for half an hour, got the signatures, a cuddle and a kiss on the cheek!
@@JulesBurt Wow , that's cool that she met them. I'm old enough to remember their songs on the radio. My mother liked them too. I have 2 cds of their music.
Get rid of those PVC covers. That's what's making them stick to the records. Nice collection though.
Thanks Christopher, they'll be gone this weekend 🙂
Great condition on those covers! What a treasure!
They are lovely 👍
Hi - nice collection, but I would take all those plastic sleeves and throw them away. They will ruin the sleeves and records as the plastic bleeds onto the cover and eventually onto the records. You can replace them with low cost lighter sleeves from Amazon etc.
Yes, took them off straight after👍
Great vid Jules. Always like looking at people's record collections. The Shadows were my grandad's favourite band. God knows how many people must have bought the Dr Zhivago soundtrack. I see it in every other charity shop I go in !
Thanks Chris, yes Dr Zhivago is one of those albums that must have sold bucketlosds that nobody wants today🙂
I got all the Shadows Eps inc that one
@alfching2499 nice!
The Elvis photoplay magazine is 1956
Thanks for the information 👍
I remember having that magazine in my Elvis collection 100 years ago...LOL
It's lovely 👍
Nice collection. Maybe the sleeves are PVC? They can go brittle and discolored. Marty Wilde is great, father of Kim Wilde who is still touring.
For sure, sleeves are now binned👍
Collection us great - nice to see collections in original sleeves. Yes as others have said remove those PVC sleeves.
Thanks, the sleeves are in the bin!
Mum has amazing taste in music!
She certainly knew what to listen to back then 🙂
Some gems in that collection!
Thanks John🙂
Beautiful collection!
Thanks Sheryl🙂👍
Fantastic and fun to watch this. Thanks. You will need to get rud of those hard pvc covers. They are toxic and will damage the records.
Absolutely! I was really surprised how they'd degrarded so quickly. Glad you enjoyed the video👍🙂
Are those PVC covers the same ones they put picture vinyl albums into? I have begun putting the picture records into soft rice paper sleeves from Vinyl Styl, which are just like the MoFi ones...
The ones on these records were pvc and NOT recommended long term. Rice paper sounds ideal.
@@JulesBurt Thanks. But are the ones in this video the same ones they put the picture vinyl into?
Great taste in music 🎶
Thanks Jerry🙂

Thanks 👍 We'd definitely prefer to keep the collection together for now🙂
👍🙂
You do realize that was Buddy Holly's last performance before he died. If original it's truly a collector piece !
I'm sure it's just a repro from the stage play👍
fabulous xxx
Thanks Kim🙂

Thanks Titi! Great information. I really do have the best viewers on this channel 🙂
Richard Anthony did a nice version of If I Loved You from Carosel
@alfching2499 👍
When removing those dreadful PVC-sleeves, use a scissor instead of trying to rip out the records!
They are already off!🙂
Did you know that elvis his hand in mind was his first gospel album
I wasn't sure but can quite believe it.
Lovely collection. The pvc sleeves have to go. They will damage the records…
Thanks, they are in the bin👍🙂
Definitely take all the covers off there has been a chemical reaction you want non pvc covers to protect them
They are all off now Paul. Thankfully no sign of any damage. 🙂
Great collection by the especially the 7inch ones they would be a dream to own
That's good looks you have been a bit lucky with that, take care
Yep, mum has given them to me for safe keeping 👍
I will treasure them Paul 🙂
Yes get rid of those plastic selves or they will distory the records
Already in the bin👍🙂
Interesting that these albums are in sleeves that did not exist even 20 years ago ☹
