As a child, Yang witnesses the murder of his parents by three kung fu masters. The child patiently waits outside Shaolin until admitted, and is later accepted as a student by an elder monk. Yang has no trouble leaving the temple, ready to find the killers and make mincemeat of them.

Speaking of the comments about no kicks and all fist (which I didn't notice til it was mentioned) every time the soldiers did that pyramid I thought why doesn't Carter of Polly go after their legs instead. Sammo Hung's death in this movie was one of the most satisfying deaths of that Kung Fu movie era. It was completely unnecessary for him to take the mother's eyes out. And so gratifying that Wong's character made sure to kill him the same way.
