And none of these compare to Carlisle in Division 3 in 1998-99 season saved by a goal in 94/95th minute from an on loan goalkeeper Jimmy Glass in a must win match
Jimmy Glass scoring in the 95th against Carlisle will never be beaten. Must win game vs Mid-table Plymouth to preserve over 70 years of being in the football league and your goalkeeper scores with the last kick of the ball to win it. Couldn't write a better script
bottom at Christmas, bottom, at the last match of the season Bryan Robson got on the motorbike completed the jump! But it started before that with a 1-1draw at man.c. when we had no shots but Richard Dunne became an unsung hero with a last gasp own goal, we followed it up with great results at utd and Charlton. We just kept going. Even when we scored our second we were still in the bottom 3 and were there with less than 10 mins remaining no other side has ever completed a truly heroic and historic fate as west Bromwich albions great escape of 2005 infact it was the greatest escape ever! The stuff of Hollywood dream are made of.
The West Brom will forever be the greatest for me. The squad of players they had was truly a bunch of past it championship old guard, and the fact that any 3 of 4 teams could have gone down on the last day. Agree also that wigan deserve atleast an honourable mention
I'm sorry but how can you do better than being bottom of the league on the final day and still staying up. West Brom easily with the greatest Great Escape
Agreed as a Leicester fan I do believe it was the best in premiership history. The fact we did it with one game to go and being 7 points from safety at one stage is even more impressive, if not as dramatic, as doing it in the final day of the season.
I haven't a clue what this channel has against wigan, The 11/12 year we beat Liverpool at anfield, Man United, arsenal away, newcastle 4-0 in the year they were top4 for most of it all from end of March onwards. All was after being bottom for most of the year!
This doesn't really anything to do with this video, except it's about football, but after watching the video about Blackpool fans fighting back, I wanted to tell a story about my own club going down (I'm putting it here so I get more attention I'm admitting sorry) It was the start of the season 2014 for my Finnish club Myllykosken Pallo -47 (MYPA), who were at the top level of Finland (Veikkausliiga/Finnish Premier League) and I was thrilled, as they've bought the manager with most trophies from the Finnish Premier League, Antti Muurinen. MYPA had bought big signings from the Finnish Premier League, even though in former years they had bought most of the players from lower divisions, as the team didn't have a very stable financial situation in any time. I was very thrilled, but despite that, the team was only 8th out of 12, two positions lower than they were in 2013, when everything was good. It was kind of disappointing for me, but the worst was yet to come. In winter of 2014-15, when the season had already been played, there were coming tweets about MYPA not getting the license to play at the top division, instead they were yet to be relegated in the lower division. I was shocked already at that time, but more shit was coming to my back as they informed to the media that they are not trying to get to division 1 or 2, instead the club had just fallen down from poor financial situation. To be honest, I was broke the next 2-3 months and I still am from it, but this just shows how arrogant some shits are with money and not thinking everything all way through. Sorry if there were any brainfarts, not a native English speaker but yeah...
The Fulham survival season was the most memorable season of my life, although we got to Europa league final a few seasons later, the atmosphere at the cottage vs Portsmouth afterwards was mind blowing
I personally think that Leicester's escape was the best ever because no team ever in the premier league have survived from having 15 points at Christmas and also they were 20th and down 2 months ago and now we're secure at 15th place with 1 game to spare!
I'm a West Brom fan and think it's pretty incredible we were bottom not just at christmas but on the last day and still managed to survive. However you have to give it to sunderland as their survival was almost all their own work.
Leicester's should be higher up, but sunderland has to be the best. Being a sunderland fan, that lost to everton at home, i thought we were down. who could have guessed a win at chelsea and man united was to happen? One of the best season's ever. Wembley, being the mags, and a great escape, a miracle.
Yea u only stayed up after some appalling refereeing in loads of games giving u loads of daft pens and some abysmal displays by the teams u played near the end of the season
This isn't in the premier league but truly one of the greatest escapes in history, back in the 80s, a certain club in West London who went by the name of Chelsea were having serious problems, hooligan trouble was giving the club a bad name, financial debt and problems increasing every week. In the second division Chelsea were surely going to go down to the third division of English football. In the last game of the season Chelsea faced Bolton away and results elsewhere meant Chelsea had to take all three points to ensure safety. In the dying moments of the game a long shot volley from Chelsea ended the game 1-0 with Chelsea staying up and allowing them to get their act together. Throughout the 90s the club began its rise in English football (became a regular mid table team) in the late 90s early 00s the club became regulars within Europe and then 2003 happened, the rest is history.
West Brom had the best ever great escape. Bottom on the final day to just survive! No team is beating that unless something like that happens again - which I doubt.
leicester's seasons 13/14 - winners of championship 14/15 - survived relegation and finished 15th 15/16 - won the pl 16/17 - sacked ranieri and now shit again
not premier league but hartlepool this year in league 2. they were ten or so points from safety and manged to stay up on the second last day of the season.
Where's the Everton 1993/94 season relegation escape? Final day of the season, 2-0 down vs Wimbledon, we had to win and hope that Bolton lost because if they drew, we'd have went down. But, penalty, a 30 yard half volley from Barry Horne and a lucky goal that bobbled in over the line saved us that day. For me, that's the greatest relegation escape to ever happen
-17,Hardly any players, transfer embargo, stays up through a last minute goal and where are we now 9th in the prem that is why afcb 08-09 will forever be the greatest escape
AND NOW LEICESTER ARE THE CHAMPIONS!!!! Bloody incredible, hats off to them from a Liverpool fan. Enjoy the party Vardy!
Wigan 2011-12 not even top 5? won 7 of the last 9 including wins at Liverpool, Arsenal and at home to united
Look at them now
Josh does vlogs Look at Leeds, Portsmouth and many others. Where they are now doesn't take away from what they did then.
Trololol
harry newton yeah weird
+Josh does vlogs Where are Villa gonna be next season? Probs in the championship :) Lololol
West Brom No1 by far, table changed throughout the final day!
And none of these compare to Carlisle in Division 3 in 1998-99 season saved by a goal in 94/95th minute from an on loan goalkeeper Jimmy Glass in a must win match
With good old Nigel Pearson the manger :)
+KPIBM Idkwtwhshast it doesn't say that in video title though
i play for carlisles youth academy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
@@charliep-pt1hd Wow, cool!
@@isaacw9091 That was the last Scarborough would ever see of the football league. Got liquidates in 2007. Got a mate who used to support them.
Despite me only being 9, I can remember the West Brom relegation escape! Was one of those fairytale moments in football.
I was 1 but have watched that clip so many times UTA
West Brom is my personal fave.
Man thats nostalgic charlton portsmouth birminghan and sheffield being in the premier league.
Stephens With Man City sitting just above the relegation zone.
*Sheffield United. There's more than one team in Sheffield.
Craig Smith Uncalled for mate.
Manchester City Posts I think it's safe to say that you won't be getting relegated anytime soon :P
Craig Smith Expect the unexpected :P
This dude's haircut reminds me of coutinho....
Coutinho like 2 years ago.
Coutinho in fifa
joenike55 yep and hes at fcking barca now
Sunderland's will always be the best considering the fixtures we had and beating Mourinho at Stamford Bridge
I’m biased, but the Baggies Great Escape was the best and most dramatic! Boing Boing Baggies!! 🔵⚪️
That West Brom survival is mental. Personally think that should have been numero uno.
Jimmy Glass scoring in the 95th against Carlisle will never be beaten. Must win game vs Mid-table Plymouth to preserve over 70 years of being in the football league and your goalkeeper scores with the last kick of the ball to win it. Couldn't write a better script
Baggies escape is the best
I think West Brom's was the greatest escape ngl
fuck west brom
West Ham 2006/07 for me was far the best escape.
bottom at Christmas, bottom, at the last match of the season Bryan Robson got on the motorbike completed the jump! But it started before that with a 1-1draw at man.c. when we had no shots but Richard Dunne became an unsung hero with a last gasp own goal, we followed it up with great results at utd and Charlton. The stuff of Hollywood dream are made of.
aaand Leicester are now 5 points clear on the top of the premier league
+Marty McFly now 7
Thx👍
(cogh) 7 points
Theyve won it actually
+Sam Whysall (cough) champions
The West Brom will forever be the greatest for me. The squad of players they had was truly a bunch of past it championship old guard, and the fact that any 3 of 4 teams could have gone down on the last day.
Agree also that wigan deserve atleast an honourable mention
I'm sorry but how can you do better than being bottom of the league on the final day and still staying up. West Brom easily with the greatest Great Escape
How was wigan left out from this list??
The 11-12 season if I'm not mistaken.
Unbelivably, Chelsea stayed up in 2015/6
Mkbw50 I know
Leicester 100% should be higher up it will be looked back on as best ever escape but because it was this season people don't rate it as much
Nah
Agreed as a Leicester fan I do believe it was the best in premiership history. The fact we did it with one game to go and being 7 points from safety at one stage is even more impressive, if not as dramatic, as doing it in the final day of the season.
Overrated imo
Mate, its coz foxes never give up!
Alex Blight foxs best escape
I haven't a clue what this channel has against wigan,

James Stableford Fuck off, you cost us the title that year, as irrational as that sounds.
:)
thecmk cono clearly he does and so do I.. You are wrong?
Wtf?, how the fuck would it of been Leicester? 3 points would but us 3rd nowhere near the title... Bet you support some shit team
E1_KD and I thank them for that ;)
West Broms escape was the best one tbf
The fact that Wigan 2011/12 isn't on this list is ridiculous
Sunderland was a good choice
This doesn't really anything to do with this video, except it's about football, but after watching the video about Blackpool fans fighting back, I wanted to tell a story about my own club going down (I'm putting it here so I get more attention I'm admitting sorry)

Sorry if there were any brainfarts, not a native English speaker but yeah...
If you look away from the Premier League, look at league 2. Plymouth of 2011/12, Wycombe of 2013/14 and Hartlepool of 2014/15
The Fulham survival season was the most memorable season of my life, although we got to Europa league final a few seasons later, the atmosphere at the cottage vs Portsmouth afterwards was mind blowing
Definitely still believe Leicester's escape was the best. It was very impressive. And Nigel Pearson deserves a lot more credit.
I personally think that Leicester's escape was the best ever because no team ever in the premier league have survived from having 15 points at Christmas and also they were 20th and down 2 months ago and now we're secure at 15th place with 1 game to spare!
I'm sorry, but where's Oldham Athletic? In the first two seasons of the premier league where it was a 90th minute goal which kept us up.
West Ham's had so many sub-plots; the takeover, all the signings in January,Tevez finding form, then winning 7 of our last 9! Unreal.
Look at where Leicester and WHU are now!
I'm a West Brom fan and think it's pretty incredible we were bottom not just at christmas but on the last day and still managed to survive. However you have to give it to sunderland as their survival was almost all their own work.
This guy is by far the best copa presenter
Nigel Pearson was part of the backroom team of the West Brom team of 2004/05 as well!
Baggies 😢👌
Everton in '98 deserves some recognition, survived on goal difference, needed a point and bolton to lose to survive.
Livingston should be up there, they were bottom of the table all season because of a 5 point deduction and escaped on the last game this year :/
iimrawesomeii it was just Premier League
Leicester's should be higher up, but sunderland has to be the best. Being a sunderland fan, that lost to everton at home, i thought we were down. who could have guessed a win at chelsea and man united was to happen? One of the best season's ever. Yay! Sunderland are first in something! Haha
Yea u only stayed up after some appalling refereeing in loads of games giving u loads of daft pens and some abysmal displays by the teams u played near the end of the season
And u should of had points deduced for that thing with signing players outside the window so lucky I would say
Hahahaha, a Newcastle fan going on about appalling, oh my days.
Hahaha a Mackem using technology oh my days
Some people class us as having the best own goal too 😂😂 what a privilege
This should be called "PREMIER LEAGUE Top 5 Great Escapes
Read the description
If west brom manage to stay up this season it will be incredible
And it nearly did happen
Portsmouth 2005/06 should be up there IMO
Take me home, Al Fayed, to the place, where I belong, Craven Cottage, by the river, take me home....
Francis Burgess yooouuuuuuu whitttteeeeesssss ⚫️⚪️
Loved the thumbnail COYI
For me, the Connor Wickham inspired Sunderland will forever be the greatest and most mind boggling premier league relegation escape!
2:36 dat Glen Johnson afro tho

great prounounciation of birmingham
Perfect list
Love the new look Top 5s. Decent.
I would have put the masters of escaping relegation Wigan in there but that top 5 is incredible how they managed to stay up.
West Brom had the best ever great escape. Bottom on the final day to just survive! No team is beating that unless something like that happens again - which I doubt.
No one cares about your peasant club
We nearly did it in 17/18 but it never happened
leicester's seasons
13/14 - winners of championship
14/15 - survived relegation and finished 15th
15/16 - won the pl
16/17 - sacked ranieri and now shit again
That's typicall Sunderland...
Love the new look!!!!
My favroute is palace last season bottom when pulis came in and finished 11th superb
Oldham athletic in 1990s
Coventry City and Southampton in the 90s, both spent most of the decade avoiding relegation!
Definitely agree
West Ham 06 was incredible
2:29 Glen Johnson !!
Sunderland number 1?! Didn't even think to put that into my top 5
Can't believe Everton's Great Escape wasn't on there!
was about to ask how wigan didn’t make it but then saw comments already. what an escape that was! they had an amazing escape in 06/07 too.
goal ski we deserve to be on here
Crystal Palace this season were in the relegation zone at Christmas and finished 10th in the table
sick jumper brah!
2.36 Glen Johnson 😂
nice jumper lad
2004/05 season was great in relegation battle.
Wigan ??
Wigan are the kings of the great escape
I bet everyone would put Leicester in #1
not premier league but hartlepool this year in league 2. they were ten or so points from safety and manged to stay up on the second last day of the season.
Best escape ever for me
As a hartlepool fan scrolling down these comments seeing this comment made me smile joyfully 😏
Football truely is beautiful game
Am happy Sunderland first
Suprised that big sam's team not in the list
It hurts me as in 2 of them (West Brom and Sunderland) Norwich went down instead
Wigan 2001-2012 9 games unbeaten against Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd and inform Newcastle.
Why did you have to put Colback on for ffs haha, great video as usual
you clearly forgot everton's great escape in 1994
and the one in 1998 aswell
I wish escape Burnley :(
I think Leicester's escape was by far the most impressive and it should be no 1. Just my opinion.
I think you mean 1997-98 if it was at boltons expense
+Daniel Eatwell yeah, sorry, got mixed up
Oldham 1992-93
We're is wigan ??
Well I'm a coventry fan THEY ALWAYS FINISHED 17TH
hartlepool 2014/15. enough said
Where on earth is Oldham 1993, the first great relegation escape?
in the prem
yeah definately, 3 point adrift with one game left
8 points adrift with 3 games left and they beat villa 1-0 when when they were 2nd liverpool 3-2 and southampton 4-3
If Pompey aren't here I'll be pissed
Bradford City 99/00 season, where they miraculously managed to beat Liverpool in the final game to keep them in the Premier League.
-17,Hardly any players, transfer embargo, stays up through a last minute goal and where are we now 9th in the prem that is why afcb 08-09 will forever be the greatest escape
Do the same idea for different top european leagues (seriea, la liga, bundesliga, ligue1 and primera division)
You missed the QPR one in 2012
no one cares about QPR.. embarrassing fans who think Chelsea are their rivals hahahaha
Leicester wasn't just at the bottom on christmas....
They at the bottom on Valentines day, Easter and St pats day.
Because of Leicester's title win, they are now number 1.
I support Man Utd and completely despise Newcastle but I can't see them going down this weekend.
LCFC this year is number 1
Surely Everton coming from 2 down to win 3 - 2 to stay up by a point in the early prem days in the game
To not have Wigan in the top 5 is a joke. They were involved in at least 3!
