Tim looks like a really wise man. Toys and games over a lifetime really sharpens the mind. Mechanic toys were always my favorite as a kid, because the puzzle to me was always to figure out how the mechanic worked :D

Frame does stretch, you can tell thanks to that one piece that he slides up to the top when there should be no room. This is nothing like that whole chocolate bar trick.
Color cards are just for the show. Light bulb lights up different color in order you just need to memorise it. Last one wasn't pink it was orange, because It goes after blue, but Tim didn't want to spoil all the magic. That's also why he "casually" skipped red. But then again you probably realised that.

4:40 made me smile! I love these! I worked at a daycare this summer and the younger 'classrooms' had two buckets of those magnet toys (much larger than these ones though). I never knew how they worked until now, but they were the favorite toy among the workers and kids both. The children absolutely loved manipulating and building with them, and it was great for letting them naturally learn and experiment with how shapes interact and stack to form new shapes or bigger 3-D structures. Even at three years old they would make the neatest little patterns, castles, and compartments out of them, and then have fun seeing if they could fit other toys inside them or add little shapes that could stand up with the magnetism - all without any guidance from us. Developed all sorts of skills (spatial planning, fine motor, shapes, sharing/cooperative play, creativity); they're safe (too big to swallow, too light/small to hurt anyone), intuitive, and relatively self-contained... absolutely wonderful toys. I'm still in college but should I become a classroom teacher, those little guys will definitely become part of my toy repertoire for the kids to use.

Today, the comment section is demonstrating admirably why it's a nice thing not to be chained to a TV set for your entertainment. Tim got to use his imagination to figure out the characters rather than be spoon fed what he was supposed to think. Personally, I somehow kind of recognised the kittens (even though I've never seen the cartoon in question) but wouldn't have had a clue about the mother cat - and thank goodness for that!
He doesn't need a TV to know about pokemon. What about the videogames? What about all the merchandise they've made for them? Toys, plushies, clothing, lunchboxes, backpacks... Pokemon is everywhere. I did not expect him to know their names, but at least acknowledge that they are pokemon.

Today, the comment section is demonstrating admirably why it's a nice thing not to be chained to a TV set for your entertainment. Tim got to use his imagination to figure out the characters rather than be spoon fed what he was supposed to think. Personally, I somehow kind of recognised the kittens (even though I've never seen the cartoon in question) but wouldn't have had a clue about the mother cat - and thank goodness for that!
He doesn't need a TV to know about pokemon. What about the videogames? What about all the merchandise they've made for them? Toys, plushies, clothing, lunchboxes, backpacks... Pokemon is everywhere. I did not expect him to know their names, but at least acknowledge that they are pokemon.

After all, games aren't real art... tv isn't real art... animators are really artists... tv show writers aren't really writers... and watching it rots your brain, right.

There's no cause to act superior just because you don't enjoy a particular form of entertainment. Plenty of people of all ages enjoy Pokemon, and you're not better than them, or better off than them, because you don't.
