I know that the first meme is meant as a joke. But it actually took me 7 years to get a black belt in WT Taekwondo. We also do a lot of conditioning, as well as full contact sparring without gear.
Without gear? TKD always use gear.
Yea my TKD Dojo wasn’t easy. It was in the mid 90’s though and I think my teacher was an American kickboxer before.

The sensei makes a mistake meme reminded me of this amazing Okinawan Karate Masters demo held at the Japan Society in New York City. I think it was sponsored by the tourism board of Okinawa. Couldn't tell what was what because I don't know many kata, but one master just suddenly stopped and, smooth as butter, bowed and started over. This dude was cool as a cucumber, in front of an audience of karate experts. Thats's the moment where I really thought "these folks are the real deal".

The first one was so funny to me. As someone who has been training in Taekwondo for around 8-9 years there is a huge gap between people who have black belt and the people who are black belts.
My guy, took me almost a decade to get black belt in TKD...

As you mentioned in your previous videos many new strikes and modifications can be added to standard karate, I wrap two flat pillows in a soft blanket and place them against a wall and practice punches on it.

Yes! This would be awesome! I’m slowly trying to ease my husband into the idea of taking Karate with me, if for nothing else than to help me practice sparring and techniques..the closest I’ve gotten is him randomly trying to play fight with me and throw me on the ground and then ask me where my karate skills went 🤦🏼♀️🤣

Next time you want to take a Gi from the warehouse...... donate it to a karate student in need of a Gi! I’m serious! I have only one Gi and I’ve tried a lot of Gi’s. They really don’t function and fit right. I’m over halfway to my black belt and my training is getting demanding!

5:06 that's soo relatable in a way. You see, my sensei was explaining how to make a proper punch, and well, I was the one receiving the punch for the example, so he punches me in the stomach. He didn't punch with all his force but man... Ohh man... Rumor has it that my face turned purple 🤣🤣🤣

Well belt systems were actually never used in traditional karate
You have a point, about TKD. specifically in North America. At my Dojo (Dojang) it took me 5 years to reach 1sr Dan. 2 kyu (Gup) per year.
This was 30 years ago in Sweden though 🇸🇪

That awkward moment when you're watching a video for fun and a meme of your kid's karate instructor is on there 😱 Okay, so the guy with the ronald mcdonald meme. He is an actual instructor in Verona, Wisconsin. They were doing some sort of charity event which is why ronald was dressed up-- McDonalds helped host the event (I'm pretty sure ronald is an actual member of the school who just dressed up for the event, but it was before I was there so I'm not too sure). The little stars on the kid's gi are part of a free program that instructor does where the kids do classes and learn certain things that are outside of martial arts (stuff like nutrition, community service, stuff like that). So the star patches don't really mean anything towards belt rankings, more like just personal growth. The red star you see on the instructor is just a decoration on his pants. The pic makes it hard to see but he has a row of them going down both legs. Again doesn't mean anything just for decoration. We stayed with him for about a year and a half, and then my daughter decided to transfer to another school. I wouldn't call him a mcdojo, you do work damn hard for your belt there and there is a very good curriculum. My daughter just wanted to do something different than what he was offering.
So much hating on TKD. :-( Though I can't argue much about the skinny arm one though. There could be another one with TKD big legs and skinny Karate legs. I started Uechi-ryu this year after decades of TKD/TSD and it is certainily a transition from nearly all legs to heavy arms and moderate leg work. Oh my aching arms!
Real TKD is mostly arms/hand techniques. What they do since 1990 is all about sport.

LMAO, So hard on Tie-kwon-do, I agree, tried it out in Korea,, the sense wouldn't let us throw punches at the training partner, kept punching to the side.. I wouldn't move. The sense asked why aren't you moving,. I said, "why move he is never going to hit me punching 6" to the side of my head!!!!"

Nice diss of Taekwondo there, particularly with the Karate Kid meme. Funny that Cobrai Kai is choreographed and actors taught by Simon Rhee, himself a WTF master. Similar to the original movie, actors also taught by TKD practitioners. The movie would be better with less kicks and more punching though, “the crane punch” has a nice ring to it and would have caught on massively 😜
