Lame puns are what I live for! Despite the reboot not writing us particularly well and being non-canon according to our own dadoo, it's still great because it lets us feed Wakko. He eats a dumptruck load of food every day! We gotta make a lotta money to feed him!
Yes yes and yes!
As a Hollywood background actor in the early 2000’s I got to spend many days and nights working on TV shows & movies at the WB studio. Just being there was an absolute treat and adventure every time. The entire studio lot has an ambiance of professionalism, culture, and a long history of success. I throughly enjoyed your video. Thanks
I had a college internship at the NBC Studios in Burbank and you're right about the feel of working in the film and TV industry. Looong hours but great experience, so much fun and free food.
What shows / movies were you an extra in? How'd you get into the business and why'd you get out?
Not anymore
my dad was an exec for WB from the 80s till 2000s. He took me to work at "The Tower" in Burbank (right next to the Disney building) as well as the studios that they moved into in the 90s.
I worked on the lot in the early 90s. My office was in the N. Administration Bldg. and was originally part of Bette Davis' dressing room/apt. 🤩
And the best cafeteria in the business!!!
I'm low key disappointed to find out that their names aren't actually Yakko and Wakko and they don't even have a sister Dot..
The Animaniacs lied to us!
Maybe they are the Warner "Bros" he's talking about. 🤣

I don't think Warner Bros will ever go away. Doesn't matter what parent company owns them next, they are an important part of the movie industry.
Tbh I hope they become independent as I think that would benefit them the most.
@@Jean_Jacques148 An independent film studio wouldn't survive in the streaming era.
@@Jean_Jacques148 yup, how much Warner Bros could do as an independent media company would be outstanding.
Everything goes away eventually.
I wouldn't be surprised if Fox Corporation bought WarnerMedia/Discovery as a big "middle finger" to Disney for buying 21st Century Fox and leaving the rest of the Fox Corporation hanging per the FCC's dual network rules...
If that ever happens, I do hope that MyNetworkTV changes its name to The WB, forcing The CW (The CW could change their name to The C-Plus) to become 100% owned by CBS.
Considering that the company has gone through 5 iterations and is still not only a viable but huge conglomeration in under 100 years, is remarkable. Very impressive for a company that started with just a projector.

Now that Amazon has publicly stated they want to buy MGM for U$8.4 Bln / K-Mln that would precipitate Creator Mike here to put on a video on "The Many Lives of Leo The Lion" soon enough...
I'd preferred that MGM would split United Artists and then sold both, one to Amazon and one to Netflix. That would be better for everyone involved and CREATE GOOD COMPETITION in the media business.
As a huge Godzilla fan I will say I'm thankful that warner bros has helped with producing the monsterverse. Seeing Godzilla and kong faceoff along with rodan, mothra, ghidorah and mechagodzilla make the big screen has been more than worth it. Hopefully they help continue to make the future films awesome as well

@@frank-bmtz AT&T sold them Warner.
@@Clay3613 Not really. ATT will own 71% of the new company, but not be ATT. Basically what ATT is doing is having majority share of DirecTV, and the Discovery/Warner media , bit having other more experienced people in said fields run them. What that does is allows ATTs focus to then be On the Wireless/Fiber internet front, then the Warner Bros. Discovery company focuses on the Creation and some distribution, with DirecTV being the main large scale Distributor of media. It's a way sort of off ATTs books, benefit from the good, and get hurt a bit less from any negatives. Honestly it's complex as hell, but might be the absolutely best move ATT has done. ATT is behind in a few fronts bit with their moves ATT could be on track to gain alot from 2 two Spin off companies .
I could also mention that Warner is one of three major labels after many acquisitions by themselves, Universal, and Sony.

I think most people do because when we're kids they're among the first introductions to WB we get.
Ye
I hope you would talk about MGM - The Rise and Fall... And Rise Again next because I heard the news that Amazon bought MGM for $8.5 billion.
With MGM is rise and fall... the company has been mostly unremarkable for the last 50 years.
Yeah they have pretty much become irrelevant anymore which is sad, I mean Warner bros.owns a ton of their classic library and they haven't made many movies in the last 25 yrs. NOW RISE AND FALL OF UNITED ARTISTS WOULD BE INTERESTING! it was founded by the stars because of the screwed up contracts film studios would have back in the Earl y days of film. And yes I know united artists is part of mgm!
@@ScrotieJohnson Actually, MGM is de facto United Artists; they are just a rubber stamp since they lost their own historic catalog in 1986 and they rely only in the UA library and its derivatives to survive, plus the libraries of Orion and American International.
@@radiotelefonia I knew much about this, but the ua early history is interesting because of the actor rights which if I remember correctly, is directly linked to jack Warner and his business practices.
@@radiotelefonia MGM owns it's films after 1986 and you have to give them
credit for some smart mergers. Sad though MGM never seemed to attract
the great talent after the 1960's that would have made them the success they
were in the 1930's, 1940's and 1950's.
I miss the Warner Bros. Studios Stores. They had the coolest merchandise.
I had a pair of t-shirts that each had mugshots of Daffy Duck and Sylvester, bought from those stores.
Sucks that they closed them down, I really would have loved to take a great visit at them
Warner Bros. Will always be my favorite studio. Their animated movies have always been the best in my opinion (Iron Giant, Storks, Lego Movies, etc.) and of course they've got Looney Tunes, LOTR, and my personal favorite DC Comics. I'll take that over Disney every time.
Warner BROTHERS. I know the logo says Bros. but no one at WB pronounces it that way.
I've always felt that more than any other major studio, Warner Bros. represents the best of American filmmaking. Not only did they give us The Jazz Singer, Casablanca and The Exorcist, but they also own most of the classic MGM film library. Back during the Golden Age of Hollywood, WB was second only to MGM in musicals--they distributed 42nd Street and the Gold Diggers series, and they also made the 1950s version of A Star is Born with Judy Garland (not to mention the various musicals Doris Day made with them). They're the only studio that has ever been able to compete on the same level as Disney in animation, between Looney Tunes, DC Comics, Animaniacs, Hanna-Barbera and Cartoon Network. Warner Bros. was also behind my two all-time favorite movies, Space Jam and Osmosis Jones, not In short, they've always been one of the leading studios in the kinds of films I like most. And best of all, they have by far the best record of any studio when it comes to preserving and restoring the films they own. I have almost nothing but crazy respect for them and I hope they remain an important part of the film industry for many years to come.
Yes they are good but they make big mistakes
@@bullrun2772 Yes, they have made mistakes, just as every studio has. They're only human, after all. (Go ahead and stone me for suggesting that "corporations are people.")
Warner Brothers = Looney Toons.
I love you, man, but it is Warner BROTHERS. I'm 54 years old and I've never EVER heard anyone say it as 'Warner BROS'. Especially repeatedly. But your video about this awesome company is, as always, of very high quality and your professionalism is top-notch. I always enjoy the very thorough review of whatever company you are featuring. You obviously do your homework.
I've always thought very highly of Warner Brothers because they are always looking to present something new and original. For decades and decades they brought original entertainment to the masses and the fact that so much of even their oldest productions have become absolute classics and must-see entertainment for the newest generation is a testament to how they think outside the box.
WB is one of VERY few production companies that have so many legendary films, TV shows, and the stars that made them great consistently from every decade since their beginning. So many studios have come and gone during the WB MANY years of excellent entertainment. What other studio has been the producers of such legendary characters that they were able to open stores in malls that sold merchandise featuring those characters? Disney, and that's it. ONLY WB has given us both animated and live-action characters that are legendary even though those characters are 50 years old or more. It's stunning. Disney has done this to a certain degree, but it feels more forced and hyped. WB has given us Bugs Bunny and all the other associated characters and I never grow tired of watching those animated characters in excellent shorts that are the lynchpin of real laughs and totally relatable events in those shorts. Mel Blanc and the animators were absolute geniuses that came up with the most incredible laugh-a-second entertainment that any of us have enjoyed. NO ONE but Warner Brothers has done all of this and so much more in their MANY legendary films and TV shows.
I think about what the world would be like if the Warner Brothers hadn't had an idea and gotten together to make some of the greatest entertainment productions ever made and I cringe at that thought. They changed the world of entertainment and left it much better than they found it. That's what it's all about. So I honor their names and lives in regard to their contribution to this complicated, if not sometimes disturbing, world that we all live in. I truly hope that WB continues to follow the path less traveled and not become complacent and unoriginal. But with their record, I dare say that they will continue to bring us the absolute best.
WB is the only name which made me excited when I saw movies randomly as a kid on TV and even now into adulthood. The brand name stands for something for me.
I share the exact sentiments myself, even though I've been having a love-hate relationship on the studio with its executive decisions, Warner Bros. is without a doubt one of the grandeur movie studios of all film history, with a sense of appeal that applies to all-ages without having to be a family brand. It has always stood for taking things with more ambition and not following a traditional "family formula" that Disney is known to have.
Another thing that it's quite clear looking at their legendary history of TV shows, events and movies, is that it is well-known that WB does love the moviemaking business, the major craft in producing and making movies, something that's notable based on their history. Not all of their movies and series will be perfect, but the majority that stands out will always reflect on the greatness and appeal of Warner Bros. Pictures

They also had one of the biggest record labels in the 80’s. Their record label was so big that they threatened MTV that if they didn’t play Prince’s videos along with other black artist they would pull all of their other artist from their platform. Then Epic did the same thing with MJ.
I think the name should be spoken as Warner Brothers.

uh, every time i hear "bros", i shudder. DON"T TASE ME WARNER BROS!
Unironically the most surprising thing to me is how long Warner Bros. and DC Comics were connected, and how it happened almost coincidentally rather than actively looking to put the two together.
I wasn't even aware that they were in trouble.
They haven't been their own company in decades and AT&T decide it was a media company instead of a telecommunications company when they bought them! Although, the merger of WarnerMedia with Discovery has me very intrigued.
I'm not a fan of these mega mergers we have been seeing throughout the 21st century, but becoming the biggest in any way possible seems to be the strategy all companies seem to be pursuing even when the Venn diagram of these companies never comes together in anyway, but here we are in the streaming wars!

It's jarring hearing Warner Brothers pronounced as 'Warner Bros' which I've never heard before. The 'bros.' is just an abbreviation for 'brothers' and not the way to say it.
Crazy how much history this company has! I think the value that they provide with their movies is massive. Let's how it's going to be with Discovery.
Hopefully better than how AT&T was running things. I think it's easy to be skeptical about Discovery because one can probably think "How can a mass media company that focus on reality-based and factual programming could enter into the entertainment show business?".
But Discovery has a greater advantage because they have created their own content over the years, through their documentaries and their supernatural/crime reenactment TV series, which technically do count as an audiovisual medium just like movies. So, in a way, they can implement those abilities to their own advantage and hold on its own with WB.
@@Merdicano Guy from the future here, um, Warner Bros. (Now Warner Bros Discovery) is fucked. Animation? fucked. Good movies? fucked. Removing content from HBO Max ( now just Max, which is just stupid) for tax write-offs? fucked. Bad flash movie, terrible Sam Levinson shows, you name it, it's really really fucked.
It was also AOL who decided to close the brick and mortar stores. They thought they could make as much online. Now it's tough to find good quality WB merchandise
As I understand, they were underperforming compared to the Disney Store and other stores of that kind, so it's likely they would've been closed anyway.
@@hotwax9376 As I understand it, I worked for the company. AOL was the decision maker. No brick and mortar stores. The company had one of its best Christmases yet

It's been years since I read the book, "An Empire of Their Own", which is about how various men of hardscrabble Jewish backgrounds (The Warners, Louis Mayer, Carl Laemmle, Harry Cohn, Jesse Lasky, Adolph Zukor & others) started or ran studios in the early years of Hollywood, but I recall in the Warners section that Jack Warner pulled a fast one on his brothers and took over the studio. Harry and the remaining brothers (Jack and Albert) agreed to sell their stakes in the business, which as the video alluded to, was struggling with the advent of TV in the 50s. What Harry and Albert didn't know is that behind their backs, Jack put together his own group to buy the studio with him running it as the sole head. By the time Harry and Albert caught wind of Jack's scheme, it was too late.
Jack was considered the most uncouth and most loathed of all the brothers. I recall reading a part where one day, he walked into the animators office and caught the staff leering at the studio's starlets from the window. He promptly had the animators' office moved to a windowless warehouse or something like it.
Didn't realize there was a fall
It’s amazing that Warner Brothers grew so large. I think AT&T took a dump on Warner Brothers. As a huge movie fan it’s sad to see how far Warner Brothers has fallen. Warner Brothers had Superman movies, the Matrix,Lethal Weapon, as well as Clint Eastwood movies. In the 90’s it seemed that Warner Brothers could do no wrong… Now they seem to be on life support!! It’s very sad to see
Discovery merging with WarnerMedia means that If Dan vs. ever gets a reboot, then it will be an HBO Max exclusive.

The last homerun of Warners that I can recall as a company, was the launch of the warner channel. At least in South America, they showed reruns of Seinfeld and Friends... then they came up with Smallville... right before the arise of streaming services, it was probably the last tv channel that you could tune into and leave it on while you did something else.
Latin American right here as well, it definitely was a major homerun because it was the main outlet to showcase all of WB TV shows despite them being aired in different networks on the US

Ya and I wonder what there future will be like now that he left them
WB is smart with their roster of directors. They also regularly collaborate with Fincher and Denis Villeneueve (for example) to ensure longevity at the box office and home video (which is now HBO Max). Nolan's box office success feels like the tip of the iceberg.
He made them the most money but in return they gave him a lot of freedom
I personally thought The Dark Knight was horrible. Probably the most overrated film in history.
@@AK-47ISTHEWAY very unpopular opinion
You always make a top-notch video. I really appreciate it, thank you.
I’m happy they’re still around, if the major studios/distributors, WB are probably my favorites
Dude went the whole way and didn't mention the Animainiacs
As fun as they were/are, i dont think they're relevant to this video
@@PrincessAshley972 exactly.
New WB logo: "People say I'm the worst logo change ever."
GM: "Hold my beer."
It's not even the worst logo Warner Bros. has had.
They also bought the TV production company Lorimar Productions.
Lorimar produced hit shows like The Waltons, Dallas, Falcon Crest, Knots Landing, Family Matters, Full House, Step by Step, ThunderCats, Eight is Enough, and many more.
As an in-name-only unit since 1994.
Now it’s “The rise and fall…..and rise again……..and fall again.”
Tell that to Wall Street. 50% rise in stock price since the beginning of the year.
@@trevonpernell0814 Crazy how a comment can age so poorly in such little time lol
@saryphx Just as poorly as the Disney-Fox merger. No way on God's green Earth can anyone convince me that WB-Discovery was worse than THAT.
@@trevonpernell0814 God, I DESPISE the Disney-Fox merger.
@saryphx I hated the idea of that from the get-go. But it did reveal to me just how short-sighted many comic book fans can be. 'Yeah, it doesn't matter that this sees one Hollywood major gobbling another, X-Men and Fantastic Four will finally be in the MCU.' I honestly believe Marvel will make a Fantastic Four movie even worse than Fant4stic.
Could you do a "Fall of Westinghouse" video my parents used to work there so seeing the reason for their fall would be interesting
Always loved their tag line....
YOU CAN BE SURE, IF IT'S A WESTINGHOUSE.
If you get a chance, look up Nikolai Tesla, he actually has an interesting connection to that famous company. Let's just say AC/DC isn't merely the name of a classic rock band!
Petition to have this video remade with “Brothers” said in the audio instead of “Bros” . . .
I'll be the first to sign it!!!!
Its also good to note that they are a big publisher in the gaming industry too! Owning highly rated studios like Netherrealm, Rocksteady, TT Games, etc. They made games like Mortal Kombat, Batman, the lego games, etc.
Is it a pet peeve for anyone else hearing UA-camrs pronouncing Bros. (with a period) as “BROS” rather than “BROTHERS”? No? Just me then? Thought so.
No, I wrote a long rant in the comments just now.
I fear that he saw "Bros." one hundred and four times in the Jokipedia article, and concluded that's what the company is called.
Either that or he's messing with the audience, like a psy-op.
@@Bill_Woo LMFAO big fucking deal, people and Wikipedia are using the shorthand for Brothers instead of the full word how will Warner Bros ever recover. Also LMFAO x2 a fucking psyop ?
@@inkoalawetrust And The Internet does what the Internet does. You're a walking, talking cliche` Jasper. Derrrrr.
@@Bill_Woo What are you even talking about.
I get like that to.
Internet talk changed English language.
That was really informative. I always though the classic movie studios ended up in sunny California mostly to get away from an outrageously litigious Edison who sued them literally thousands of times in New Jersey because he was convinced that movie cameras, which he "acquired" the patent for, should only be used for Nickelodeons and nothing more. Oh, also you forgot about the Warner sister, she's right there at the end of the name, the Dot after Bros.
That's true. In the vast open spaces of LA, crews could get away from Edison's shakedown thugs. But an even bigger reason was the weather: LA is sunny almost every day, whereas NYC has New England-type winters. The main advantage to being in NYC was access to Broadway actors.
It's weird you say bros instead of brothers. I've never heard anyone call it Warner "Bros".
Millineal speak.
I wrote a long rant in the comments just now.
I fear that he saw "Bros." one hundred and four times in the Jokipedia article, and concluded that's what the company is called. I feel certain that he uses serious news sources, but seeing in 104 times in Wikipedia convinced him to use that IRRITATING phrase.
Well ... either that or he's messing with the audience, like a psy-op.
@@barryf5479 more like Zed speak. I don't know anyone who uses the term Bros and I'm on the tailing end for millennials.
First of all: Great video about Warner Bros.! As always very informative, THANK YOU! Could you please make a special video about the Discovery Inc.? I watched the German Discovery Channel very much back in the days and I would really know some more about the backgrounds. Have a good day!
That pronunciation of "Casablanca" just hurt

Similar to hearing Warner Brothers pronounced as 'Warner Bros' which I've never heard before. The 'bros.' is just an abbreviation for 'brothers' and not the way to say it.
@@apexsensation idk, sounds like you were living under a rock, it has always been pronounced bros where i live, it's simpler that way.
Do the rise and fall of MGM next. They were the titans of the film industry in the golden age and seeing them fall so far is really interesting to me.
It would be cool if for some videos you would pick a topic and view how different companies performed relative to each other.
For example, like this video touched on, talk about the rise of Hollywood and show us how the different major studios came about and how they performed over the decades. It would be like watching a horse race.
This would work for many other topics as well.
The AOL Time Warner deal also took WCW (World Championship Wrestling) of TV and lead to WWE to buying it. It was a huge change in the wrestling industry. Great video as always.
Awesome video (as always) ... I'm a bit surprised there was no mention of the beginnings of their animation department, though that could be its own video.
_QUICK!_
Do a video on MGM.
I missed you company man!
WarnerMedia and Discovery need to leverage the resurgence that they will gain from streaming in the near future to acquire Six Flags which they should be able to do at a favorable price due to the pandemic. This will create an ecosystem similar to that of Disney and Comcast so that they can better position themselves for the future.
I’m glad you talked about Warner Brothers ❤️ I had suggested Their Studio Store as it’s a great source of nostalgia for me 😎 There is so much here to discuss 😳
