    Wonderful Artifacts you found today. That Coin is great, the U S started out with 13 colonies and only 13 stars on the flag, maybe that Coin means the same thing, I know its old, what a rare find, you are on a roll at that river. Thanks for taking us along, you find really great things. Much love.

    Another great video Rocks. The indentations you saw in that piece of pottery were done with a corn cob (minus the kernels). This was a common practice of the Mississippian Cultural Period peoples. Great arrowhead hunting videos lately!

      Yea. I am going to go back there and hammer it. Try and dig like 1000 pieces of it to frame up. I will find bone artifacts and hopefully some more worked shell. The water just went up and down twice. There should be some good stuff in there. Some of the pottery has effigies on it. Hopefully I can get some of that for a video. Hopefully

    That first spot was loaded,between the pottery, bone and stone tools,cool seeing the crushed shells as tempering, i find alot of owasco pottery here in Finger Lakes region NY, up here they tended to use crushed quartz mixed with Mica stone for their temper material. Squirrel man snagged that berry like a pro! That river is amazing.

    That was a nice day on the river, got back home way before the storm. You always seem to find more pottery shards on the other side of the river. That was a curious wave pattern on that shell piece. The coin in your screen was a pleasant surprise, I'm sure you'll find a great spot to show it. :~)

    How crazy is it you found a shield nic sifting the river. I metal detect every chance I have .. and only have dug 1 ever. Nice find they are kinda rare. I'm in Romney wv not too far from ya. I will take you to some spots I have found Spanish reales and early American coins and we can do some digging. Fair trade for your constant content and great attitude. Love to see you living your dream brotha. Rock on

    • @rockscousteau
      @rockscousteau  4 місяці тому

      I dont find many coins in the sifter. Only a few a year. But if i go back to that area...id say more will come. I am close to the mouth of a big creek, Lots of traffic there. Lots of stuff in the layers off the shore. There must be a modern dump in the bank too. There was acl bottles busted....beer bottles....and some old glass shards. I think that last area where i found that coin will have finds of all ages.

      Its hard to tell what is there. I am pretty close to a creek mouth. Should be good. I found all that stuff in 2 hours. I will try and stay longer next time. Last time there.....that is when i found 2 celts. That place is GOOD

  • @kimhollinghead8541

    Just curious, why don't you use a flat shovel?

    • @rockscousteau
      @rockscousteau  4 місяці тому +1

      You could never find much with a flat shovel. The stuff is stuck like glue to that base clay. I even sharpen the edge of the shovel. It wont work....at all.
      I guess I would find something eventually. (With a flat shovel). But I wouldnt be getting videos every trip with one.....that is the KEY.

    • @rockscousteau
      @rockscousteau  4 місяці тому +1

      There is no way you could use a flat shovel on any of the places I look. I guess I could. But it wouldnt be a video every trip out like it is for me. All the artifacts have to be loosed from the base clay. No way you can do that with a flat shovel with no tip.
      You even have to sharpen the shovel edge.
      Flat shovel on the river equals an idiot.

      @rockcousteau..With all that pottery laying in there we both know something insane is hiding there someplace. You just don't find large amounts of pottery with small amounts of worked pieces
