This is by far the most detailed and appreciated review on this watch! I also couldn’t believe the level of refinement in the video. Definitely won my sub.

Glad to hear that you enjoy it. The 9 series movement is pretty good accuracy wise. As for the Ocean Star, solid good looking watch, I am glad you like it as well :) Cheers!
I really like that Citizen puts long silicone bracelets on their diving watches, because I have a wide wrist and I have a problem when I buy a watch that doesn't have a bracelet long enough for my wide wrist. Citizen, congratulations on that solution. Well done.💪💪💪
I'm wearing this right now. The only thing that detracts from it (IMO) is the noisy rotor, which is amplified if you put the watch on a NATO strap. Other than that, it's superb. It keeps better time than the Seiko SPB153, which I also have, and which costs twice the price. I'd say it's on par with my Tudor Black Bay 58, which it very vaguely resembles. I love it.
@@Tendertroll1 The Citizen is quite noisy, especially when on a NATO strap, for example. If you don't like loud watches, you'll find that an issue. By contrast, The Tudor is exceptionally quiet. I don't think I've ever heard the rotor once. For what it's worth, I also have an Omega Seamaster, and the Tudor is on par with that in terms of both timekeeping and how quiet the rotor/ticking is.
..... thank you for such an excellent and well rounded look at and review of this watch , it convinced me to finally get one ...... and today the 26th June 2024 mine arrived in the post ...... and all I can say is WOW ! ......... pure perfection ..........
This is probably an unpopular opinion - but imo Citizen is churning out better quality watches than Seiko currently ... everything is set correctly (i.e. bezel alignment) - the movements imo are on point - where i feel Seiko's nowadays are just cheaply slapped together with very poor QC.
Last week I was having a watch conversation with a guy who doesn't really like watches. He was wearing a Seconda. He does, however, like sailing and routinely takes his boat from England to the Med. He asked advice on buying a tough, no nonsense watch that he could wear while doing all the sailor stuff you do while dodging Orcas in the Bay of Biscay. I went to the Seiko Turtle or Captain Willard as good choices. Tough, no nonsense watches that would do the job he wanted. The guy has Rolex money, but just isn't bothered. Having seen this and the barnacles, I'm going to have to show it to him as an alternative. Bloody Barnacles !!
Haha! Great story! :))) recently there was discovered a Rolex submariner covered in barnacles, in Australia, in the same place as the Citizen model. so there are options for the guy :))
Great watch. I own the same one and just picked up a vintage version 52-0010. My only recommendation to Citizen that would have put this re-creation over the top but would be a 7mm crown, fully graduated bezel, insert, and red text on the date wheel similar to the vintage diver.
I think this video was the reason I bought the NB6021-17E, and I must say, it's really a beautiful watch. I've had mine for about a year, bought a bunch of 20mm straps, it's really a great watch for many reasons
I am astounded by the atheistic format of your reviews! Damn, I thought I was a little creative but every time I watch one of your reviews, your stap combination together with the photography are truly seminal.
Gorgeous watch, and a much more accurate reissue of their historic dive watch than Seiko did with the 62Mas reissue when they released the SLA017 or even SPB143. Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of the hands. If they would have used the same hands of the Parawater in this watch, I'd pounce.
@@BraveBeaters I've also just been pointed towards the First Blancpain Bathyscaphe model from 1956, I can't post a link here, but check an article by 'swisswatches magazine'
It's a beautiful watch from Citizen, I really like the Citizen brand. Their "The Citizen" and "Chronomaster" series are amazinggggg. The EcoDrive line is also great on the more affordable side, much better than anything under 1k.
saw this video, bought the watch. After delivery and a dip in the ocean I immediately went online and bought a second one. Both watches for under $500.00 from a reputable AR. So far both are running within 6 seconds of each other and about 7 to 11 seconds fast per day. A Titanium automatic dive watch for $477.00, definitely the best dive watch under $500.00 you can buy in 2024. And possibly a better watch than the competition costing hundreds if not thousands more.
Totally agree with all of your points. I've been looking for a dive watch and this one came across and it ticks all of the right boxes. Can see it become a future classic. Nice video and presentation btw 👌🏼
I’ve always liked this diver. But the crown doesn’t fit the watch. It’s just too small. I also don’t know why Citizen insist on such a small date window. Every time I buy one, I have to add magnification windows. Every time! But this diver looks amazing. And Citizen and Seiko get more wears from me than my Omega’s or Longines. They just work! Nice review…thanks for doing it.
Thanks for the video (really nice pictures and videos of the watch and I find your commentary easy to understand). I own this watch too and I have it on a green "ridge" NATO strap - it looks amazing!
Very cool! I’ve been waiting for the Pelagos 39 to become available by me, but maybe this will scratch that itch in the meantime. I’m really interested to see this Citizen on some other strap options as well.
Love it when you wore it with the thick glove , it’s an awesome looking watch and good quality. Personally I only have a two tone Daytona copy which is a Eco Drive model but I simply love it. I don’t have any itch to buy a new dive watch my Tudor Bronze 2019 grey fulfills that role admirably. Thank you for another top notch video Sir.
Great review of a great watch for real divers and affordable price. So much so I bought the blue Fugitsubo on the strength of your review. This is the first watch that I have bought in three years!!! Can't wait to get it on wrist.
I have one of these. I ordered a bracelet for it from Citizen in the UK and it's a very satisfying watch on the bracelet, really elavates it and looks great in all monochrome. Between both seiko and citizen I’ve always considered that seiko was a fair way ahead of citizen when it comes to the case and dial design. What I couldn’t stand is the movement. The 4R movement was kind of solid but the 6R was simply terrible which really put me off seikos. This citizen with the 9000 series Miyota movement and full titanium, Game changer for me. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this watch BB. I love the monochrome look, the clarity and from my experience Citizen has so far been a reliable and well made watch brand at a decent price. Although my experience has been with the Eco-Drive movements my Citizen watches have been faultless for nearly a decade. I've not added another Citizen watch to my collection in around 8 years. I might just have to have a look at this automatic model when I'm next at the AD as I don't have a Citizen diver. If I can justify it I might just make a purchase, we shall see.
Great review 👍🏻👍🏻, but i have seen some other reviewers that are not speaking that well about the quality feel, more as a ”toyisch” feel.. design Wise its top ⭐️⭐️⭐️..

Great review, love citizen brings back good memories. i bought the Citizen Promaster JP2007-17X Diver. Underrated watch but i LOVE it hope you get to check one out!
It's nice to watch a posvideo about this watch, most I've seen are pretty ambivalent and say its inferior to Seiko blah blah. Well done, Citizen deserve some credit.
A question for you watch experts--I have a great Citizen Eco Drive Promaster Diver BN0150-10E. It's perfect as far as I'm concerned. But I've been thinking of "upgrading" to an automatic and I love the looks of this Fujitsubo. But I think the daily accuracy of -10 to +20 seconds would drive me nuts. Is it really worth upgrading? I really enjoy the accuracy of the Eco Drive.
I'm no expert but I can honestly say that coming from G-Shock watches to automatic mechanical watches I was hesitant due to the inaccuracy but I have come to accept that and make allowances for it every couple of days. Something nice about a mechanical movement which you don't find with quartz. You become accustomed to picking up or dropping a second or ten every day or so. The mechanical movement feels alive whereas quartz feels cold and sterile.
I own quite a few seikos, orients and Citizens. The promasters offer great value compared to seiko. I like that they are the uncool underdog, unaffected by some of the hype surrounding other brands. This challenge diver is definitely on my wish list.
nice watch :) if u had to choose between this one and certina ds action 38mm? considering these 2 i like the citizen look better but think the movement and overall quality is better in certina
I don’t know why, but I really really like this. Many times I have looked at this and have been contemplating a purchase. I have been a fan of the 6R35 movements in many seiko divers May I ask why do you rate this one higher? Great review as usual many thanks
I really like this! Great review and thoughts on the design. So interesting that the dial layout from Citizen predates the 62mas. What are your thoughts on this model vs the SPB143 62mas reissue models?
The 62mas is awful. Misaligned bezel and the 6r35 movement may have a 70 power reserve. But out the box my Willard reissue was losing 16 seconds a day. If you like this case style, go with a citizen. If you want to spend the same amount of money on a watch that equals a 62mas, buy a used Oris. Also forgot to mention the janky bracelet clasp
@@jmemphisTX I owned an SPB143 and had the same experience, gaining 18spd and misaligned bezel. Also metal bits underneath the dial. But the case finishing and dial are very beautiful, and the bezel insert is tougher than Aluminum. I wears well dimensions wise but I found it heavy on wrist
Hi Paulo, I want to make a dedicated video when I reach 50 brave braters. Now, if you go the channel and select the playlist brave beaters, you can find all of them listed
Something is wrong. The bezel markers at 15 and 45 minutes seem not centred on the 3 o'clock and 9 o' clock on the dial, and also all other markers seem affected except 6 and 12 o'clock.
Nice diver. The only thing I do not like is the lumed index at 3. It is a little bit off set compared to other indexes and it bothers me a lot. Seiko does that too. Do not know why.
Some things give me pause. I'd like it to be sharper, and the bezel sounds like it's not fantastic. For me, this would be a big purchase. I need to find one in a shop and try it on. But I think I respect Citizen dive watches even more than Seiko
I buy one last month !! 750$ (NB 6021 - 68 L ) i love it. But i own also NY 0129 - 58 L 3 times cheaper and its closer of original 1977 challenge diver ! ( steel... basic 3hz mov... big crown...doomed gass.. bezel with points on each minute..mercedes hand like fujitsubo... ,) of course FUJITSUBO TITANIUM IS BETTER !! BUT ITS A TRUE PREMIUM WATCH WITH A SAPPHIRE AND A 4 HERTZ HEATHBEAT...
Just get a promaster eco drive titanium. No need for mechanical. Either way it's 200m only. They should have make this one 300m to differentiate this line for doubling the price.
Pirchased it on march 2024
BEST WATCH EVER
TOTALLY RECOMMEND
Have been wearing mine for a month now, what a watch, there is nothing I would change. 4 hertz and running at +6 seconds a day, absolute Seiko killer.

will go for the certina with blue dial prolly also suit me better as i have a small wrist
thx for yr reply and have a great day :)
Thanks for wonderful video
Cheers! :)
Stunning!
It's amazing how good looking a lot of vintage Citizen watches, they just don't connect with the new models.
I don’t know why, but I really really like this.
Many times I have looked at this and have been contemplating a purchase.
I have been a fan of the 6R35 movements in many seiko divers
May I ask why do you rate this one higher?
Great review as usual many thanks
Nice watch. Nice review. Subscribed!
Spb143 is a great watch, it's super popular! The price is not good 🤣
Love it so much
Wher can we have access to your "brave beaters" list?
Thank you!
Paulo
Hi Paulo, I want to make a dedicated video when I reach 50 brave braters.
Now, if you go the channel and select the playlist brave beaters, you can find all of them listed
Something is wrong. The bezel markers at 15 and 45 minutes seem not centred on the 3 o'clock and 9 o' clock on the dial, and also all other markers seem affected except 6 and 12 o'clock.
Nice diver. The only thing I do not like is the lumed index at 3. It is a little bit off set compared to other indexes and it bothers me a lot. Seiko does that too. Do not know why.
I prefer to have it as a landmark and symmetry :) But I understand what you say. Cheers! :)
I think it's do with the ISO certification.
Citizen is often overlooked
Some things give me pause. I'd like it to be sharper, and the bezel sounds like it's not fantastic.
For me, this would be a big purchase.
I need to find one in a shop and try it on.
But I think I respect Citizen dive watches even more than Seiko
Jak ja się cieszę ze znalazłem kanał o zegarka który prowadzi Normalny Europejczyk a nie Azjata Lub Anglosas …Salut my friend 🤣👍❤️🔥🇵🇱👏👏✌️
Awesome review tbh. 👌
Nice watch I' d like to buy it if it were a limited edition sub 500 pieces!!
That’s the one. Love it❤
It's a really good looking watch. A shame they don't make it with Eco-Drive too.
that can be a good option as well, with a bracelet too :)
The Eco Drive if I am not wrong needs to be serviced faster and costlier than automatics. Very respectfully..
Love mine!
Top notch video as per usual! And the watch looks good. Not a super fan of Citizen though.
Thank you Lars, I wasn't either but... I am now :D Cheers!
Did I miss it or did you not refer to its nickname, the "Fujitsubo"?
I buy one last month !! 750$ (NB 6021 - 68 L ) i love it. But i own also NY 0129 - 58 L 3 times cheaper and its closer of original 1977 challenge diver ! ( steel... basic 3hz mov... big crown...doomed gass.. bezel with points on each minute..mercedes hand like fujitsubo... ,) of course FUJITSUBO TITANIUM IS BETTER !! BUT ITS A TRUE PREMIUM WATCH WITH A SAPPHIRE AND A 4 HERTZ HEATHBEAT...
Beautiful watch but I would have love blue lume iso the green lume.
Looks nice
I love CITIZEN
great review. subscribed
if it were a stainless steel with an H link bracelet then it would have been a proper reissue.
Agree!
Just get a promaster eco drive titanium. No need for mechanical. Either way it's 200m only. They should have make this one 300m to differentiate this line for doubling the price.
