    I am not a Quaker myself but I do admire how they often seem so cheerful and content. It's refreshing to see this considering all the prevalent seriousness that seems to surround most religions.

    "The Light. Goodness gracious." - that just about sums up my experience, as well. :)

      I think that phrase (well, and all of what AJ shares in that clip) is my favorite of the series. There's a lot to like in all of the videos, but that part seems so genuine and heartfelt.

      If anyone is interested in hearing early quaker testimonies, come support my channel. I hope to inform people on what the society was built upon by uploading letters and sermons onto my channel. God bless you in the spirit.

    There is within each person that which is not bound by the passage of time nor by the physical world. A seed or embryo that exists outside of the time space continuum. An eternity shaped void within the human experience. The Apostle John referred to it as 'the light that lights within every person who comes into this world'. George Fox called it 'The Guiding Inner Light'. It is more than mere conscience or a sense of right and wrong, more than a moral compass. It is a link that references our origin and forecasts our ultimate destiny. In between those two points this link can give us an eternal perspective on the present, allowing and enabling us to 'live in light of eternity'. It is common to all. If we take a small portion of this time space continuum to listen, we will hear 'that still small voice'. The voice can ultimately lead us to recognize whose trademark we all bear. 'Made by God' the label reads. On the reverse is simply 'Redeemable by Manufacturer before expiry'.

    Having read some of George Fox and William Penn's writings, it would seem to me that the modern Quakers are very far removed from the early Quakers. To bad too, because there were actually reports of great healings and of raising people from the grave from those days, kind of like the times of the early Christians. Hmmm. The first "outbreak" of Christianity just so happened to coincide with Roman roads, and it facilitated it's spread, far and wide. Then we have Fox and his friends that seem to be an "outbreak" just at the time of the printing press. I wonder, now with the advent of the internet, is it time once again?

      I dunno. The preaching in my meeting is very much about listening to the Light, tending to the Seed, minding the Power to hear what Love will have us do. If we have not love then all we say is a clanging of bells. I think it's creeping up again. Pray rather than criticize. It's hard to do I know. VERY hard to do. But the power doesn't need our judgment but wants us to pray and listen.

      Then perhaps you are once again following the "way". I find this pleasing, for one cannot hear, unless they are listening. Peace.

    • @gmann1968

      @Zanna Oniseri I'm not sure how to put this without speaking what was not given to me to speak. They are not my words that make this claim of the Quakers, but His. Peace of Christ be with you.

    • @gmann1968
      @gmann1968 4 роки тому

      @Zanna Oniseri No, that is not what I said. I was attempting steer you towards thinking upon what was said more deeply, to perhaps see the deeper meaning behind the words. Apparently I failed.

      We don't hold conversations like this at my local meet, but oh my goodness Quaker Youth in the UK is amazing. We have the best conversations. Final meeting at an event I swear everyone is just shaking, it's an amazing community to be a part of

    how would a Quaker parent explain this to a blind child? what 'Quaker speech' terms are acceptable, Consciousness, awakened, wisdom? instead of sight, enLightenment, or other visually defining words?

    • @PaulaStreet
      @PaulaStreet 7 років тому

      sight is only a metaphor - so that a physically blind person is just as capable of spiritual sight as a physically seeing person is :)

    Forgive me, with deeo respect, but I feel more comforted and enlightened within the Eastern Christianity than the within Quaker movement.
