Have you seen how Murphy treats his AAPI characters ? The majority of Asian characters in Murphy's shows, have very little screen time, or, have something terrible happen to them. Sunshine, Mike, and Tina are given such little screen time or plot points with Mike and Sunshine straight up disappearing. Sunshine is even sent to a Crack house, because Rachel can't handle competition. In AHS, Asian characters have incredibly violent deaths and only appear in a few episodes or scenes.

Jane would’ve had to perform for maybe a week or two (?) with Lea after zero rehearsals together and it makes way more sense to bow out early so the new cast can begin together, especially if they are rehearsing together already and adjusting aspects of the show upon Lea’s debut to better suit her. I don’t doubt that Jane wanted to avoid her tho lol

Two people from the same town in Ohio were offered leads together in a Broadway show? And one of them only got that audition because of ANOTHER friend from Ohio who had connections because she got signed (and dropped) by a record label? PLUS another one of their friends is a super genius who is the daughter of one of the most famous scientists in the world? And this WHOLE SHOW was supposed to be about a ragtag group of bullied music nerds. I just think they were stretching believability WAY before season 6 😂

Im a trans woman and the fact that they made the coach trans always angers me so much. So much part of his storyline pre coming out is about how he's still a women even tho he's masculine and likes to feel loved and femenine and then that just goes out the window randomly. The trans characters in this show are so mistreated like Unique's storyline about her being in love with the white boy just resolves by him being transphobic and pum, to never be spoken about again Mike looks great as cheerio tho

I loved the new singers (except for gay Eminem who could not sing), the twin drama had me cackling and they were all unique and entertaining. Wish we coulda had two seasons with em!

the main issue with the newbies in s6 was that there just wasn’t enough time. there are 13 episodes in season 6 and a fair amount of them don’t focus on the kids AT ALL. it was too much too late
If they introduced them instead in season 4 instead of the group we got maybe the show could’ve lasted. But the actors themselves individually were way great. I never had any idea how truly talented Melissa was from Glee. Melissa Benoist is the prime example of how bad writing can bring down an incredible actress.

He was a sophomore in season 2, junior in season 3, and senior in 4-5. He didn’t really “change” grades, it just seemed like he was older than Kurt when he was introduced and then they kinda backpedaled by later deciding he was a year younger than him. I always took the Warblers referring to him as a “junior member” as meaning he was an underclassman. Kinda like Junior Varsity vs. Varsity on teams.
honestly i've would've loved to see a Sam-Blaine relationship. Bisexual men barely get represented in the media and i feel that was a great opportunity considering darren and chord's insane chemistry. But the writers decided to go with those weird sam-brittany and blaine-tina storylines for no reason whatsoever.
from what i remember, sam was kurt's original love interest before the writers decided blaine would be a better fit (if you watch old promos, they mention kurt's love interest as a football player that has confusion about his sexuality and quinn plays a role in figuring it out) so it totally could've worked! they could've reused some of those ideas for sam/blaine. what a missed opportunity.

I was inspired by your last video to actually go and watch Glee for the first time. I finished all 6 seasons and can safely say it’s a show that exists. Iconic at times, problematic at others, a wild ride overall. This series perfectly captures that, thank you Mike for all your hard work
Count me among those that watched religiously for seasons 1-3, caught part of season 4, and then never saw seasons 5 or 6. I've heard of some of the insane plot points that transpired in the later series and have maybe heard the names of some of the NewNewNewDirections, but I really didn't know anything. So thank you very much for filling this Ohio (or maybe New York) shaped hole in my mind and doing it while absolutely slaying. Loved the updated format too!
I feel like we don’t talk enough about how truly evil Kitty is. The character? Fucking truly cruel. The writers SHOULD HAVE known better than to write a literal guide for disordered eating. I'm like 90% sure it's based on something Laura Bell Bundy did when she was at Wicked. She was 2nd cover for Glida, Kristen was out because of surgery. Laura went off to LA and the understudy had a STROKE and they couldn't find Laura so Kristen had to go on in a back brace.
Also, I think along the way Rachel’s dream changed from being on broadway to being famous… and LA was the easiest way to do that

Also, THE ONLY reason we got the Britanna wedding was because of Cory's passing (RIP The Quarterback). When The Break-up came out, the writers published that 2 of these 4 are endgame. Obviously they meant Finchel and we were guessing but maybe Klaine? But without Finn, I'm glad they kept their word and we got the Britanna storyline in full.

the main issue with the newbies in s6 was that there just wasn’t enough time. there are 13 episodes in season 6 and a fair amount of them don’t focus on the kids AT ALL. it was too much too late
Yet the s6 newbies were miles better than the s4 ones
If they introduced them instead in season 4 instead of the group we got maybe the show could’ve lasted. But the actors themselves individually were way great. I never had any idea how truly talented Melissa was from Glee. Melissa Benoist is the prime example of how bad writing can bring down an incredible actress.

as someone watching glee for the first time, having blaine switch from a sophomore to senior and skipping junior year so he would be in the same grade as the others and the change was never acknowledged upset me so much

He was a sophomore in season 2, junior in season 3, and senior in 4-5. He didn’t really “change” grades, it just seemed like he was older than Kurt when he was introduced and then they kinda backpedaled by later deciding he was a year younger than him. I always took the Warblers referring to him as a “junior member” as meaning he was an underclassman. Kinda like Junior Varsity vs. Varsity on teams.

honestly i've would've loved to see a Sam-Blaine relationship. Bisexual men barely get represented in the media and i feel that was a great opportunity considering darren and chord's insane chemistry. But the writers decided to go with those weird sam-brittany and blaine-tina storylines for no reason whatsoever.

from what i remember, sam was kurt's original love interest before the writers decided blaine would be a better fit (if you watch old promos, they mention kurt's love interest as a football player that has confusion about his sexuality and quinn plays a role in figuring it out) so it totally could've worked! they could've reused some of those ideas for sam/blaine. what a missed opportunity.

I was inspired by your last video to actually go and watch Glee for the first time. I finished all 6 seasons and can safely say it’s a show that exists. Iconic at times, problematic at others, a wild ride overall. This series perfectly captures that, thank you Mike for all your hard work
Count me among those that watched religiously for seasons 1-3, caught part of season 4, and then never saw seasons 5 or 6. I've heard of some of the insane plot points that transpired in the later series and have maybe heard the names of some of the NewNewNewDirections, but I really didn't know anything. So thank you very much for filling this Ohio (or maybe New York) shaped hole in my mind and doing it while absolutely slaying. Loved the updated format too!
I feel like we don’t talk enough about how truly evil Kitty is. The character? Fucking truly cruel. The writers SHOULD HAVE known better than to write a literal guide for disordered eating. They knew their audience and demographic. I was 14 when i watched s4 and it screwed up my head SO MUCH to see the way it was presented. Granted, I was already experiencing body dysmorphia, but that depiction fully pushed me into ED. Shame on you, Ryan Murphy
